Hotel San Carlu Citadelle

We loved our stay at Hotel San Carlu Citadelle! The location is perfect, right in the city center and within walking distance to all the main historic sights, restaurants, shops, and even the beach. The highlight for us was the beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant with amazing views over the bay and city — we really enjoyed drinks at sunset and a delicious breakfast there each morning. The service was outstanding, everyone was so welcoming and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The rooms are a bit small, which can be a challenge with luggage, but the bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. Overall, a charming hotel with unbeatable location, great service, and a rooftop you won’t forget. We would definitely recommend it for a stay in Ajaccio!

The location is to die for. Walking distance to many restaurants, coffee shops (word of caution - do your research - mileage varies from amazing to barely edible) and sights. We had some complicated situations to handle and the people all throughout have been extremely helpful. The hotel is also great - good sized and well done bathroom, cute room with good, comfortable bed. We had the room with the sea view and it was great. All around great experience and a hotel.

Outstanding Ajaccio hotel with an unbeatable location, charming character, plush comfort, and top-notch customer support, on par with other greats I’ve experienced (HK Peninsula, Brussels Hotel Metropole, Sydney Four Seasons, …). Kudos to the front desk staff, especially Oriane, who were extraordinarily rapid and responsive to the numerous questions I posed prior to and during my stay. You MUST have at least one visit to the top floor bar/restaurant, Carl’s, for spectacular views, yummy gnocchi, lobster rolls and the chef’s Caesar salad, all delivered with warm hospitality and enthusiastic service.

This modern hotel has an excellent location near the Citadel in Ajaccio Pros Clean and modern rooms and bathrooms Windows do open Very helpful concierge desk Okay breakfast on an attractive terrace overlooking the city Cons Getting in the hotel requires hauling your luggage over a flight of stairs I requested a quiet room and got one in the back of the hotel with a small window opening on a narrow back alley. I assumed it would be quiet, actually on my second night it was not, revelers late at night and workers early in the morning.

We’ve visited Corsica many times and for our return to Ajaccio we wanted somewhere near the Citadelle with sea view. San Carlu certainly delivers on that. The views are spectacular, particularly from the breakfast room/bar and roof terrace. This (almost) justifies the pricey rates. Our room was pretty small however, with nowhere much to unpack. The open rail for clothes hangers had a surprisingly budget feel. The bathroom was great though, and almost as big as the bedroom. Breakfast was decent enough but unremarkable considering the price. Reception staff were charming, helpful and spoke good English. Overall, expensive but probably the best in the city

The hotel is perfectly situated. It is close to the centre and the restaurants but in the same time very quiet. You reach a beautiful beach in 2 minutes on foot. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very tasteful and clean. I would go there anytime again

Just a great hotel! Renovation is fantastic, rooms, slightly small, but big bathroom. Breakfast and the staff so friendly. Great breakfast with superb view and outdoors feeling. Yet shaded. Just 10 metres to a lovely beach for a swim. Towels at the hotel.

Modern hotel in a good location near all the restaurants in the center city. Nice rooms, great bathrobes!. Excellent breakfast buffet. A few stairs at the entrance to the lobby. Staff was friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night, but would return.

This is my favorite roof top bar and hotel in Ajaccio. Every time I stay here I have a wonderful and great experience the staff is amazing, friendly, upbeat. The 360° view of Ajaccio and the bay is just so outstandingly beautiful. To mention the cocktails they are just wonderful aesthetically pleasing and the taste is just pleasing and refreshing. I will definitely be coming back to stay and enjoy the lounge and restaurant on the rooftop beautiful place. Thank you.
