Hotel Saint-Martin

Room 22 was the worst. The room had a thermostat controlled heater and air conditioner that did not work at all, it just pushed a meager amount of air through it. So they had a separate portable air conditioner in the room, but it required the window to be wide open to vent the air, which didn't work at all. The room was like 25 degrees all day until it cooled down at night outside. I had to keep the window open for the AC to work at all, and stuffed blankets in around it to keep the warm air from coming back in. However, it was loud because the window was open. Plus you had to climb another flight up a narrow stair to get to that room and there was a bright fluorescent light on all night to illuminate the stair in case of a fire. The room was not very clean and the soap/shampoo was empty. Plus there's no shower, and the tub has a VERY low ceiling above it which meant squatting in the tub to wash. Needless to say that did not go well.

I asked for another room, but none were available. It was dismal.

So I basically booked the room one month before for 2 adults and 1 child including breakfast for €92. I called again today to confirm for tomorrow my arrival and the employee said €792 for one night for a 3 star hotel. Whata joke. Taking full advantage due to the Christmas season.

In response to the answer you have mentioned due to the holidays and the season. First of all I travel ALOT and no one but no one where ever i traveled too I have never paid 10x the price of the original for Christmas! Second of all youre not even located in paris and youre not even a 5 star hotel! What amenities do you serve???? That i had to pay €792 for ONE night! ONE! What did you have in your breakfast? Caviar?? Iam sorry but the logic with the €792 price is unacceptable, unprofessional and unheard of especially for the location. Strasbourg is the capital of Christmas in Europe and prices for a 3 star hotel ive never met! Exactly why I called 2 times in November to confirm the price which 2 employees said to me €92 including breakfast. 9-2! No excuses. As today I know that i will never step my foot at this specific hotel.

Bedbugs/horrible staff

One of the worst Hotels I have ever visited! -and I have been in many places way cheaper and cleaner than this.

We arrived in July at 5 PM, took a quick shower and found bed bugs (bettwanze) in our room shortly thereafter while we were starting to unpack.
Thus, at 5:45 PM we wanted to check out and cancel our reservation, because of the bed bugs.
All we wanted was to leave and have our money returned.

But the reception-woman who at check in had seemed very nice now completely switched character. All of a sudden she understood close to no english and denied any possibility of bed bugs in the hotel. She then insisted we spoke to her manager on speakerphone who spoke some english.

Speaking with the manager prooved to be a lost cause, because she refused to believe that there could be any bed bugs, even though she mentioned in passing (by mistake I assume) that they had the rooms sprayed 3 months earlier.

She then called us fools to her colleage on speakerphone and said we could send an email to her manager, because she herself could not cancel the payment.

We insisted that it should be possible for her to do so, because the room was booked on their own website. When we said that, the receptionist smiled gleefully and said that there was no return guarantee when we booked through their website.
We were then more or less told to leave with no other option than to send an email.

We sent the email and ofcourse - recieved no answer. But to no surprise the money has been withdrawed from our card anyway.

On a sidenote, the room was booked with aircon, but the build in aircon was broken and the room had a noisy mobile aircon positioned in an open window with a big tube hanging out, making it impossible to close the window facing the busy square.

I find it astonishing that a hotel finds it worthwhile to treat their guests like that, when all we asked for, was for them to cancel the reservation and not charge us. Instead they made a huge unpleasent scene in the lobby.

I cannot recommend you strongly enough to stay away from this horrible place and its horrible staff!
