The best thing about this hotel is its location; a very short walk to the historic centre of Quimper. It is clean. The breakfast was good. But it is very dated and in need of complete modernisation. It looks quite sad. If you get there early enough (which we did) there is hotel parking - but only two places. There is no lift - and we struggled with our luggage to our room on the second floor.

A warm friendly welcome by the hotel reception set our stay. The hotel is full of character and warmth. Stayed in room 127 on the first floor over looking the central atrium. The room was clean and well presented with good size shower and bed. Good WiFi , very quiet ( till the gull population wake up at 5.15 and for the next hour have a morning singalong ) ideally located for the old part of town as only a short walk away. We parked on the Main Street outside the hotel at no cost . Highly recommended.

Absolutely shocking service, the bald guy who works on the desk wants to go on an anger management course! Was meant to be stopping here, we had booked 2 single beds and we got there and he said no i don’t have 2 single beds even though we had booked already so we said well that’s what we have booked straight away he started going mad and told us to get out, even when we was on the phone to hotels.com trying to sort it he was telling us to shut up. I could tell straight away he didn’t like us because we are english, wouldn’t let my dog stay in that hotel even if it was free. also it’s out dated and smells like a care home.

Quite old fashioned but very clean and comfortable. The Hotel Gradlon is an easy walking distance from the historic centre of Quimper. Good sized well appointed rooms and first rate breakfast. No elevator. Very quiet and relaxing. Would recommend.

Ideal for visiting Quimper, lack of parking was a bit of a issue, but there is on street parking.
Rooms OK, clean and tidy.
Breakfast was lovely.

We have just returned from six weeks in France where we stayed in nine hotels and the Gradlon was by far the worst of the lot (most were fantastic). Glowing reviews in certain travel guides are completely outdated. This hotel has the air of one that is on the verge of going out of business. Specifics: The front desk clerk (daytime) was surly, slovenly, unfriendly, and unhelpful. No pleasantries whatsoever, even though we consistently spoke French to him and gave the customary “bon jour “, “bon journée “ and the like. No elevator, and when asked if there was one upon arrival with our bags, we’re told curtly “non” and offered no help whatsoever. All decor is outdated and needs freshening; the small table on the staircase landing was covered in dust. The outdoor rear garden/patio was weed-filled and lacked any charm whatsoever (it looked like it could be quite lovely given a bit of attention). While our room was comfortable enough all furnishings, carpet etc needed updating or replacing. Our one in-house breakfast was adequate but nothing special; the hotel seemed virtually deserted and now we know why. The one advantage this hotel has is its location, about five minutes walk to the heart of the old city, which is lovely. Be forewarned that upon arrival there is no where to pull in if you come by car- you must pull up on the sidewalk to unload. There is paid parking (garage) on the adjacent street but you must ask the front desk to unlock the garage each time you go in or out. While the evening desk clerks were slightly more friendly, the aforementioned day desk clerk always seemed to begrudge any request like this made to him. In sum, I would never recommend or return to this property and urge you to seek lodging elsewhere. Almost any place would undoubtedly be better than the Gradlon,

We were given a lovely room with a view of their gorgeous courtyard by MarieLou. We loved having a kettle. Maria (from housekeeping) made sure that we had the provisions required and shared her photos of Albanian dancing with me when I said that we had come for the folk dancing at the Cornouaille festival. Louis allowed me to mix up Italian and French as he is fluent in both. You are ALL wonderful. Suzanne xxx

While the hotel is in a very good location, the staff was indifferent, if not unfriendly. When I asked them to call a cab for my wife and I, they looked at me as if I had asked them to donate a kidney. The rooms are a nice size but the interiors are tired. Despite what some tour guide books said, the breakfasts are nothing special.

Hostel service from the moment we arrived. Targeted as "English" even though we where from Ireland. Fusty smelling rooms and very dated. Clean rooms but service was atrocious! Such a shame in a beautiful town.

Lightness of the room, friendliness of staff, interesting art work and books, availability of parking.
