We stayed in Hotel Montaigne for 4 nights and we enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful in giving recommendations. The rooms were clean and spacious enough and appeared to be newly renovated. Breakfast was decent with bread, fruits, yogurt, cheese and cold cuts. Since we had a car, we utilized the hotel's private parking facility (for a reasonable fee) which we appreciated. Location was good and walking distance to the town center. We will gladly stay here again in the future.

Very good location for everything. We reserved a garage well in advance. It is located about half a mile away. Very tight and difficult to park. We had a smaller car Citroen C4. Still... We were afraid for our rental (maybe, it was unnnecessary, but why risk?)

Fabulous place to stay in the centre of Sarlat. Spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly but professional. Tip, ask about their garage parking.

Everything you need!
Everything you need within few minutes walk of old town. Nice reasonably priced breakfast too. Parking in the lot in front was a bit stressful, but we did arrive on a busy Saturday. Lots of nice places to eat/drink nearby. We loved La Cremerie.

This would have been a 4* review based on cleanliness, location friendly staff etc. However, for us, there was one overriding problem - the room temperature. The hotel is advertised as have in AirCon - which it does. But the aircon is centrally controlled and set to 24C. We asked for it to be lowered to 20C in our room (probably should have asked for 18C) but were told that the lowest we could have it was 22C. So, we asked fo that. I am not sure whether the room temperature was even that low as it was uncomfortably hot until around 6am (and then only because we resorted to opening the window in the middle of the night).
The most fundamental thing a hotel should offer is a good night's sleep and Hotel Montaigne utterly failed us in this respect. When I see a hotel with AirCon, I expect to be able to use it to achieve a comfortable temperature.

Lovely large room …so clean! Breakfast good, adequate. Helpful staff… parking bit of chsllenge( very narrow garage space 200 meters down the street and limited in number)…just inside old town, perfect for walking, but traffic in and out a bit much!!
