Outstanding stay. Beautiful little hotel with luxurious rooms overlooking a bustling old street. You can tell how good a place is, when something (out of their control) goes wrong and how they manage it. The main receptionist (Benoît) was so incredibly helpful. A plumbing issue with the shower was fixed, he gave loads of other options to help us be comfortable, made sure it didn’t impact on our stay at all. He Gave excellent vegan food advice for my wife, carried our bags all the way to the station. He was exactly what you want hospitality to be. The location is remarkable, in a stunning city. Don’t wait. Book. Which helped make a last night of holiday, a perfect one. Thank you.

Stayed in this beautiful boutique hotel for 2 nights. The location is fantastic as you have the beach to the right and restaurants on your doorstep. It was comfortable, clean and was perfect for my stay in Saint Jean de Luz. There are steps to the reception but I’m sure you could get help with your luggage if asked. There is a lift thereafter to the 2 upper floors. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and most importantly I’d return. Thank you for looking after me.

Overpriced, noisy and uncomfortable: nothing like a 3-star hotel.
A total scam: not 3 stars, expensive and impossible to rest.

Terrible value for money, it doesn’t deserve the rating it has.
Impossible access, broken bathroom and no reception: a 3-star fraud.

St Jean de Luz is an attractive fishing/harbor/beach town on the southwest coast in the Basque region. Hotel Txoko is well located in the center of it. It is medium quality as a place to stay and feels more like a hostel, but it is comfortable enough. Unfortunately the host was called away for a family emergency and the person filling in seemed quite irritated to be there. He also had a cold and was coughing and sneezing as he put together a very ordinary breakfast for us the next morning - one that he didn't seem to realize he was to provide! Honestly, don't book the breakfast, just buy something in town and you'll do better. Our whole experience may have been different if the actual owner had been on property - and we hope his emergency resolved well.

Well located but not comfortable
Well located and walking distance to everything we wanted to do. Helpful and friendly staff when needed
But the hotel has issues which I was surprised didn’t show up in other reviews. Rooms are much smaller than photos make it seem, lots of noise from the street until 2-3am made it very hard to sleep. Room felt stuffed inside, probably due to carpet. Bed not very comfortable, and shower had a bit of an issue with water not draining fast enough for the shower strength and leading to a lot of water on the whole bathroom (with no curtain or door for it)

This was the most comfortable hotel I have stayed in in years - the bed, pillows,duvet all perfect. The walk-in shower was roomy and the towels large and soft. It is in a perfect location in the old town a few steps to the beach, and 5 minutes walk to the port. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our hostess - friendly, warm and helpful.
