Olympic Star Beach Hotel

Pros:
• Diverse and tasty breakfast

• Right across from the beach
• Friendly staff (kind of)
Cons:
• The biggest issue—and the reason I’m giving only one star—is the dog that hangs around the hotel and the terrace across the street (which is actually part of the hotel). It’s a large yellow-and-white dog that attacks people unprovoked. It was aggressive with us too, though luckily it only barked and didn’t bite. However, from our balcony, I witnessed it attacking two different people during my stay—and I only spent around 2 minutes per day on the balcony, just enough to hang towels.The first time I saw it jump at someone was during the first few days: it lunged at a young man, around 20 years old, but he managed to dodge it and used his backpack as a shield. The second incident was much more serious. The dog barked at a man walking down the street, who ignored it. The dog stopped barking, but instead of staying where it was, it snuck up behind the man and bit his leg. He didn’t even have time to react because he didn’t know the dog was behind him.Reading other reviews, I saw that other guests have also complained about this dog. However, the staff and the owner clearly care so much about their guests that they’ve chosen to do absolutely nothing about it—and even acted rudely towards those who filed complaints about the dog. I never felt fully relaxed because I was constantly keeping an eye out for their “precious” dog.Because of this, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place, especially to families with small children or anyone afraid of dogs.(P.S.: This review is coming from someone who grew up with dogs and cats—I'm not someone who's uncomfortable being around animals.)
• If the shower gel runs out, good luck getting more. They won’t refill it—you’ll have to go buy your own or bring it from home.
• Ants in the room (they were very tiny, and since I didn’t spend much time in the room, it didn’t affect me too much—but I thought it was still worth mentioning in the review).

Restaurant staff is rude. Stray dogs, cats everywhere. Breakfast only available from 8:00. 0 min earlier. Not flexible at all if you need to go for an excursion or traveling home early that is guest’s problem. Meat is poor quality for the dinner. You better not pay for any food in this hotel and eat at the restaurant next door. You also better take toilet paper from home because in the this hotel you need to beg for it.

From the beginning, the staff was very rude and offensive. The refrigerator in the room was extremely small and didn't work at all. Additionally, they insulted customers behind their backs. Our experience at this hotel was disappointing, and I would not recommend it.

We stayed at this hotel for 8 days. From the second day we had a problem with the aggressive stray dog who sleeps at this hotel. The dog was barking and growling at us. Especially during the night. He attacked several times and also bited my partner. Manager of this hotel was extremely rude and unprofessional. She was protecting the dog and blamed us for the the attacts. We were in the room most of the staying after the dog bite. We were upset. We wanted some help. We didn't feel safe in that hotel. The manager told us to go to the room and it felt like we were in the prison there. The only solution she was suggesting was to kill the dog. She told us several times to kill the dog. She didn't want to give us police number. We googled it and called the police to find the solution. There are many stray dogs there, but this one who sleeps in the hotel and they treat it like a pet is very aggressive. The dog has a scar on it's neck from previous fights. It's not safe. Also the hotel is called pet friendly, but it's not. They only keep that dog to bark and attack people. It was attacking others too, also children. We decided to leave the hotel 2 days earlier because of their behavior. It's not normal to protect the aggressive stray dog over the man. Also it was unacceptable for the manager to not give us the police number. She was blaming us that we made her problems. She said that we called the police and the agency. She ruined our staying, our holiday. She didn't want to call the owner. I assume that the owner is not informed how she treats guests. Greece lives from tourism. That's nor the way you treat the tourist. We emailed the Ministry of tourism about this problem. Also I hope someone will call sanitary inspection. This hotel is bad. I do not recommend it. As a foreign citizen, you should feel safe and protected in another country. Greece is a member of the European Union, it lives from tourism and something like this is unacceptable.
