Sidari Waterpark

Fell victim of reading the “amazing” reviews. The hotel and pool/slide facilities are totally decrepit. Food was below sub standard, entertainment consisted of a 15 minute “kids mini disco” by a woman with a speaker on wheels. Grass parasols around the pool are INFESTED with wasps and I was stung twice during our weeks stay. Staff are rude and aggressive and will do anything to squeeze more money out of you. BEWARE and keep receipts for absolutely everything. Eg: paid tourist tax on arrival only to be asked to pay again at check out, and paid our bar tab each evening in euros and at check out was told multiple tabs hadn’t been paid, I smugly pulled out 7 days worth of receipts and ended that one. Please don’t waste your time or money staying here.

This must be the worst holiday experience we've ever had, we even asked to be moved to another hotel but the Tui rep was a waste of time, another review will be done regarding the shambles of of a company they are. We arrived at the so called water park (3 tired slides, and poorly maintained pools) after sitting on a coach for over 45 minutes at the airport waiting for 2 late guests, in about 70 degrees heat. After checking in, we found marks on the bedding, dirty coffee pod in machine, dirty sun lounger covers, black mould on walls, which were eventually washed off 5 days later by house keeping, they wanted money for a safe key, money for towels to sit by the pool, even though we had a suite with a private pool you would think towels would be standard. Now the worst bit, we paid for half board (what a joke) the food was inedible we tried the evening meal on our first night as we had been travelling all day, to say it was bad doesn't come close, Butlins in the 70s would appeal more, then the breakfast absolutely hideous, all cheap, poor quality, cold and completely off putting. Forget to mention the bar, another joke, got given a drinks menu, huge menu, and great selection, asked to order drinks, eventually after being told they hadn't got the first 3 on the menu I was told they only had one, a local cheap tasteless local lager, after 3 drinks of rubbish we retired to our room, the guy behind the bar said that a dilivery was due the next day when I asked staff the next morning the reply was so different, saying they were winding down for end of season closing so they would be no more. after the 2 hideous attempts for food and drinks at this so called 4 star hotel, we finished up having to go out for dinner and breakfast every day. Not sure how they got 4 stars, and can not believe the reviews stating how brilliant the food and complex is. We bumped into 2 other couples in different restaurants in town having to eat out as we were saying the same thing. Not sure who the guy who sits at the bar, or just wonders around looking at everyone's movements, either manager or owner, but never tried to make conversation or contact. When checking out the girl on reception just quoted our room number, no thank you, or did you have a good holiday, nothing. The reason I believe is because I complain the first day. The beds in the so called suite are 2 single beds pushed together and uncomfortable. The only positive thing was the great size balcony and plunge pool, and the shower in the bathroom was amazing. I would like to say the girl on reception did as a gesture give us towels to use for the pool (no charge) and a safe key. But every complaint she came back with ridiculous replies. Not even understanding why they charge 49 euros when you arrive. We were in Crete in May, at 5 star hotel which makes this place look like a 2 star at best. No doubt excuses will follow from Sidari water park.
