Vibrant hotel rooms that embrace the Greek culture, good variety of food and very helpful staff from ordering taxis to helping organise day trips.

Excellent family holiday. Rooms provided everything needed with a bonus of comfortable beds. Pool and area never felt overcrowded and always plenty of sunbeds. Food provided a nice variety. Evelyn just amazing, on top of everything and nothing a problem

We have had a wonderful stay and would like to say that the staff are amazing, especially John and the wonderful most helpful kind lady Evelyn (Cat Lady !) The pool is lovely with the sunloungers spaced out so you're not on top of each other and a lovely spacious pool area.Overall my family and i have had a perfect relaxing holiday

Great hotel, staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The room was cleaned everyday with fresh bedding and towels. Towels available for around the pool. Amazing private beach cove directly across the road. Would 100% recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very clean, the breakfast is great, so much variety and always fresh. The pool is a good size, plenty of shallow areas for the children to swim and play safetly but also deep areas for diving & jumping. The staff can’t do enough for you. Evelyn on reception in an afternoon is a lovely lady, very helpful and friendly. Evelyn made our stay so special and personal. She is a credit to the hotel. As are all the staff there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our two children aged 10 & 8. We will definitely be back.

The food here is amazing, so god that I'll come back home with 10 more pounds lol. The staff is so nice, I don't think that I've ever been treated better at any hotel ever. If you're ever traveling to Greece Kefalonia I would recommend you stay here.

Just returned home from a week at Porto Scala hotel. There are positives and negatives, and the hotel will suit some and not others. It's quite a typical touristy hotel, not a traditional Greek. I would say it's a 2-3* not 4*. The rooms are basic but functional. We had a lovely balcony with a sea viea. The rooms were cleaned daily, towels changed. The bed was comfy. Free safe and air conditioning. There was a fridge in the wardrobe although I had to turn it off at night as it was too noisy. Nice big pool area, always sunbeds available. The staff are nice, especially the reception staff. One thing that spoilt it for us was the awful dance type music by the pool on repeat all day every day. I must have heard those same 10 tunes about 50 times each this week. I don't know how the bar staff cope. I asked them to change it on day 6 as we couldn't cope with it anymore. They said they'd ask the manager but didnt change it. Our balcony overlooked the pool so there wasn't any escape, even with the room door closed. The same music continued into the evening, the same songs playing, no people at the bar except the bar staff looking bored. The inside bar was closed so the only place to get a drink is the pool bar in the evenings. There is potential for entertainment but there isn't any, just the same CD playing over and over with no people at the bar. There such potential if there was just a little entertainment, a bit of Greek music (that's what we come for) or even a variety of music. I assume everyone goes into town as there is nothing here, apart from those songs, over and over. It sounds like a small issue but it really made a difference to our holiday. The hotel is about a mile from the main centre. It's not a bad walk but not great in the heat. There is a mini bus that the hotel provides for €2 each way, once an hour for 8 people, book quick or you'll be walking. The supermarket is just on the outskirts of the centre. No other shops nearby. The shop onsite sells water, €6 for 6 bottles, it's €2 for 6 bottles in the supermarket. We stayed half board. Breakfast was ok, a fair bit of choice. Evening meal was a slight variation of the same thing every night. It was ok for the first 2 nights then we got bored of the food. Not great quality or what you expect in Greece and not worth the extra €18 per night per person. There are some lovely restaurants in town which we tried on our last couple of nights, really good value, about €15 for a main in most places. I wish we had just gone b&b. The little cove over the road is stunning. A bit tricky to get down but once there its truely beautiful. We spend half our days there. So pretty and peaceful. If you like to snorkel, it's the cove for you, but I'd bring something to sit on as the rocks are uncomfortable. Overall this hotel is ok, bog standard hotel with a lot of potential, certainly not the Greek experience we have had in other places. It's a shame, the staff are lovely, the views are fantastic and the gr

I seriously believe there are 2 Porto Scala Village hotels, the one receiving the good reviews and the one we stayed at for a week in June. That one is tired, neglected and not even 2 star. I have been visiting Greece in general and Kephalonia in particular for over 40 years and this one is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in. I am not willing to waste my time listing all of the problems but I think lack of investment, poor maintenance and understaffed is at the root. I feel very sorry for the staff trying their best to support guests, Panos in the restaurant and Evelyn on reception in particular, but it's an uphill battle with the poor facilities and apparent lack of management support. This looks like a hotel that is about to go out of business. Avoid.

We went to Porto Skala with two kids (8and 10years) in the beginnig od season and we enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel stays in calm place near by little beaches in a walk distance. Big pool with a lot of sunbeds, bar by the pool. Transfers to Skala easily made at the reception desk, taxi anytime available, for bigger trips is better to rent a car. The outwiew from the restaurant is lovely, food was very good. All personal is very nice and helpfull. We recommend and will come again.
