Hotel South Paradise

I stayed at the Hotel South Paradise from 9 to 16 August with my girlfriend and three couples of friends. The location of the hotel is truly excellent, a few steps from the sea on the beautiful Tonnara di Palmi.

Upon arrival, one of the managers was very courteous and gave us excellent advice on beaches and attractions to visit, a welcome that we greatly appreciated. However, there are some aspects on which I believe it would be useful to work to make the most of this structure.

The rooms, for example, could benefit from improved soundproofing, as noises from other rooms and adjacent floors are easily audible. Furthermore, the absence of an internal laundry represents a small difficulty for those staying longer.

During our stay, we encountered a problem in our room related to a persistent odor coming from the bathroom. Unfortunately, this discomfort continued throughout the week. In hindsight, I could have asked to change rooms, but initially I thought the smell was only temporary.

Another inconvenience was the water heater, which had a water leak, causing constant flooding in the bathroom. However, I would like to underline the kindness and helpfulness of the cleaning ladies, who always proved to be very nice and ready to help us.

Regarding the breakfast service, I think there is room for improvement. The offer was mainly made up of packaged products, and the selection of savory foods was rather limited. On some occasions, the breakfast staff showed a somewhat abrupt attitude, especially when we were asked to leave the table for cleaning in a rather hasty manner.

We also found the dishes good at the restaurant, although the prices are a little high compared to the type of cuisine offered, simple and homemade. Furthermore, the staff could adopt a friendlier approach here too.

Finally, as regards the lido, the structure has great potential. The beach is wide and the sea is wonderful, but it would be useful to give priority in booking umbrellas to hotel guests. This would make the stay even more comfortable.

I would like to point out that these observations are not made by sterile criticism, but by a sincere desire to see this hotel improve. It is clear that the staff are very committed and that there is a strong family management behind this establishment. The potential to make South Paradise an excellent destination for summer holidays in Calabria is all there, and with a few small adjustments, it could really make the difference.
