La Gustea Hotel & Cucina

I recently returned from a 2-week stay at La Gustea. This was the third time I've stayed at this wonderful hotel within the last eight years, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I visit beautiful Sarteano. The owners, Nadia and Felice, are delightful hosts, and Nadia generously offers advice about visits to some of the town's historic sites and points of interest, as well as help with other needs of her hotel guests.

The hotel is located just outside of the historic center of Sarteano on a quiet residential street. Some of the rooms have a view of Sarteano's hilltop castle. The rooms have recently been updated. They are immaculate, with excellent lighting, as well as high-quality furnishings and fixtures. I also enjoyed the creative new palette of colors in my comfortable and spacious room.

The breakfast that's included is exceptional, with a variety of fresh baked pasteries and croissants, farm fresh eggs cooked to order, prosciutto, seasonal fruits, and much more.

The hotel also operates a restaurant that offers pleasant indoor and outdoor seating. Although I enjoy having dinners in the many excellent restaurants in the town, my favorite dinners are at the hotel. Felice is a wonderful and creative chef, and every entree I've ordered has been high quality and with a particularly delicious blend of ingredients. My two favorite menu items this year were the fried zucchini blossoms and the handmade pici with white pork ragu, ginger, and lemon. His pizzas are also the best in the area!

Five stars are not enough! I had a wonderful experience here. It is very quiet and clean, and breakfast was delicious. The pizzas were sooo good!

Nadia and Felize are the nicest people that you could ever meet. They were very welcoming. Any accommodation that I needed Nadia was there to assist. It was such a personalized experience that I felt at home, even as a solo traveler. Nadia even went above and beyond to help me with transportation.

The location was great, I walked to the town piazza most days, which was only a 12 minute walk. I will definitely be back.

A smaller family hotel, a pleasant owner, luxurious rooms and a gorgeous modern bathroom, the hotel is equipped with an elevator. The reason I only give 4 stars and not 5 is that I would have liked a functional wifi connection in the room in a 4 star hotel, the internet looked like it was and the speed was comparable to the 90s with a 50kb modem connection, 2 key cards should be given for the family, because the entrance door of this hotel is locked and the possibility of entering requires a key card , so it is not possible for someone to stay in the room with the card and others go out for a walk. The choice of food at breakfast is smaller, which is probably due to the overall capacity of the hotel, there is also a lack of gluten-free pastries, tea was served in extremely conical cups, which, thanks to the poor stability, made it difficult for children to hold it without spilling it. Maybe there are the details, but the details matter. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn't even have a pool. In conclusion, a nice hotel, but at least the internet connection should be improved.

Albergo Roberta is a delightful place with the most accommodating, welcoming and kind hosts. The rooms are pleasant in a traditional and true Italian way, and are spacious and cool, with en suite bathrooms. Breakfast was a delight, composed of choices from fruits and yoghurts to meats and cheeses and amazing delicious cakes and fr sh orange juice with a fresh cappuccino offered on arrival at the table. It's a 10 min walk to Sarteano centre and off the quiet side road of via Adige so peaceful and calm. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shutters provided a very welcome and much needed perfect night's sleep! Grazie tante! Would definitely return and recommend.

Perfect B&B! The room was spacious, bright, and very clean! Nadia is so kind and accommodating. Breakfast is delicious (absolutely perfect eggs) and so is dessert. We'll have to go back and try dinner. Very reasonably priced, highly recommend! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We „had“ to stay there because our car broke down in the middle of the road from Rome to Firenze. I want to say once again THANK YOU to this amazing host Nadia who helped us all the time and offered support at any time while we needed something. You can truly feel that she cares about her guests. Breakfast is great, rooms are very big and AC works perfectly. Perfectly located to visit the centre. 100% recommended. Grazie mille!

If you look for a real good cusine with very fair prices you should not miss this restaurant. The interieur is modern and not stereotypical Italian (chequered tablecloth…). The pizzas are absolutely fabulous , the wine selection is limited but very good. The prices are almost at shop level. A Rosso de Montalcino from Banfi for 16€, a Vino Nobile Reserva from Carpineto for 28€. The restaurant is member of Slow Food, so only ingredients of high quality are used. The service was very attentive and nice. It seems that most tourists don‘t know this place… we came twice and were the only non-Italiens. Thank you for two great culinary evenings.

We were passing through the area on our way from Montepulciano back to Rome & needed to break up the drive. We called & made a reservation for 8 people at noon, but arrived earlier (closer to 11:30). Although the restaurant wasn’t open yet, Nadia greeted us at the door with her beautiful & welcoming smile & asked us to give her 5 minutes. We sat on the patio & enjoyed the view and as promised she was back within 5 minutes (or less) to escort us to our table. She was so helpful in explaining the menu & accommodating in offering to make “off menu/ custom” pizzas. As it turned out 3 of us ordered the pappardelle with shrimp & zucchini. It was the best meal I’ve had in the full week in Italy only made better by their superior hospitality. They have given me a reason to return to the area & stay at the hotel. Thank you so much for being your wonderful & welcoming selves. It is so refreshing in today’s world!

My first stay in Italy was spent here and I feel like I discovered a gem by staying there.

There are so many things I liked about the look and feel of this hotel, it's cleanliness, generous sized rooms and modernity, etc.

But above all, the number 1 standout to us was the genuine warmth, friendliness, care and attention extended to us by the owner Nadia and her husband.

I travel alot and have stayed in some really nice and comfortable places but never before had the feeling of being at home too.
Staying with such genuine hosts really made my stay in Sarteano most memorable. Thank you again.
