Hotel Ortler

Unfortunately, I don't have an optimal rating for what appears to be a very nice hotel, even though I (unfortunately) wasn't there myself. However, there is a back story to this: My wife and I booked 2 nights with breakfast a few weeks ago. We deliberately did not book via a booking portal in order to save the hotel the relevant fees. If we had done this, the assessment would probably have been different because we would not have been left with our own expense, as my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer during a routine examination about two weeks before the start of the trip and had to go to the clinic during the booked time. I then immediately informed the hotel that we would have to cancel or postpone our vacation. When booking we were already informed that 100% of the cost would be charged in the event of cancellation. However, if booking via a portal, a free cancellation would have been possible at short notice. Despite the terrible diagnosis, the hotel insisted on paying the full amount (including the unused meals), which was of course okay from a legal perspective. Unfortunately, a rebooking for a later date was rejected. We found this very unaccommodating and had the feeling that the owners only cared about money and less about hospitality. Whether that's morally OK? is, the reader should decide for himself. We then found a couple who went on the trip instead of us and we paid for the trip. You liked it at the hotel. In any case, we won't be staying there on our future South Tyrol vacation! By the way, another hotel in another part of South Tyrol, where we wanted to go for a few days afterwards, reacted completely differently and canceled it free of charge. We will take a longer vacation there as soon as possible!
