Hotel Gran Roc

I went to Hotel Grand Roc, as I was on holiday with my son, and had been looking at Crystal Ski holidays, which offer Gran Roc as one of their Sestriere hotel options. We went to reception, and asked if we could come in for a drink, very friendly. We went to the lounge, waited at least 10 minutes for service, so I popped my head into the kitchen to alert the staff of my presence. A very rude lady emerged and grudgingly took my order. My presence was a huge inconvenience to her. I then wanted to pay, and me wanting to pay with card was seemingly unthinkable. A huge dramatic scene later the manager came out, and he took my card payment. I mentioned to him that my experience had been terrible and he nodded. I asked him if he understood that I was not happy and would never return. He understood. My 10 yr old son and I enjoyed our drinks and left… and will never return. A shame as the rest of our Sestriere experience was exceptionally friendly!

My stay at Hotel Gran Roc, Sestriere, was far from the restful retreat I had anticipated. The hotel's walls are incredibly thin, leading to a constant barrage of noise that includes what sounds like perpetual furniture dragging, which resonates through the floors and rooms, disturbing the peace of guests.

After enduring a sleepless first night due to the noise, I reached out to the staff to complain, hoping for a resolution or at least some form of action to mitigate the issue. Unfortunately, my concerns seemed to fall on deaf ears as no apparent action was taken to address the noise.

The second night proved no better. Noise persisted throughout the night, compelling me to call the reception again to complain about the disturbance in the corridor. It was another sleepless night, leading to significant frustration and exhaustion.

Given the circumstances, after two nights of no sleep, I requested to check out early, hoping to find solace elsewhere. To my dismay, the hotel refused my request and insisted on charging me for the full four nights, showing a lack of empathy and customer service.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend staying at Hotel Gran Roc, Sestriere. The lack of action taken by the hotel to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of their guests was deeply disappointing. If you value your sleep and well-being, it might be wise to consider other accommodations in the area.

Oh, where do I begin with this "hotel experience"? It was like a comedy of errors, but without the laughs. Picture this: a double bed that turned out to be two grumpy twins constantly pushing us apart. It was like trying to sleep on a fault line!

And let's talk about their commitment to health and safety. They had a knack for interior design, with rusty nails coming out of walls that doubled as impromptu acupuncture sessions. And oh, the balcony! It was a masterpiece of sharp edges and unfinished business. I had to wear a suit of armor just to step outside.

The staff? Well, they must have been graduates from the "How to Be Unfriendly 101" school. The manager, bless his heart, looked like he was auditioning for a beach holiday brochure instead of running a hotel. I guess smart attire wasn't part of their job description.

Now, don't get me started on their claim of being dog-friendly. The dog lifts were like mythical creatures that refused to work, and our furry friends were banished from the communal areas faster than you could say "sit." I'm pretty sure my dog felt more welcome at a cat convention.

Ah, the food. If I could describe it in one word, it would be "disgusting" (and that's being generous). They had the audacity to serve Italian coffee from an unbranded vending machine. It was like a sad attempt at caffeinated water. I've had better coffee from a garden hose. And when we asked for a refund, they clung onto our money like it was the last life jacket on the Titanic.

In conclusion, this hotel was a real-life comedy show that left us longing for an early check-out. It's a place where comfort and safety take a backseat, staff forget their friendliness manuals, and Italian coffee dreams go to die. If you're seeking a truly terrible adventure, this place might just be your ticket. But for the rest of us, I strongly recommend finding another destination. Trust me, your sanity and taste buds will thank you!
