I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Castello in Ugento for a friend's wedding, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience. This hotel is truly unique, combining the charm of a historic castle with the comforts of modern luxury. From the moment you arrive, the incredibly welcoming staff makes you feel right at home. Their warmth and attentiveness truly enhance the stay, ensuring that every guest feels like part of the family.

The rooms are spacious, spotless, and designed with comfort in mind. The beds are large and extremely comfortable, providing a perfect night's sleep after a day of exploring. The bathrooms are equally impressive, with a generously sized shower that easily accommodates two people, adding a touch of indulgence to the stay.

Thoughtful amenities like complimentary water, juice, and coffee are available, which is a lovely touch when you need a quick refreshment. There's also plenty of space to store your clothes, making longer stays more convenient.

One of the highlights of Castello Hotel is the on-site restaurant, located within the castle itself. It's not only convenient but offers the perfect opportunity for a quick bite before heading out to explore the beautiful city of Ugento. Our stay at the Castello was memorable. The Castello itself is breathtaking, architecture, and history, and the accommodation has been brilliantly renovated. The delightful fruit and herb garden is not to be missed. Even though we didn’t have a suite our room was spacious and comfortable with all facilities that could be requested. The service was impeccable and friendly, especially the hospitality staff – Roberta, Isabella and Mirko. They couldn’t do enough for us, whether it was organising excursions, recommending restaurants or arranging for their driver Giorgio to drop us off and pick us up from a Lido. Giorgio himself was very polite and efficient. Our room was serviced beautifully both morning and evening with little luxuries like slippers left out for us. The highlight of our stay was a morning in the cooking school with lunch with the chefs to follow. Head chef Francesco, pastry chef Elisabetta and sous chef Luigina are clearly very passionate about their food and staying true to the cuisine of the region. They were fun, understanding, instructive, patient, and extremely skilled. It was an experience and meal we will not forget.

One of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had! They made me feel so welcome, especially as a solo traveler, and the staff were all wonderful. Highly recommend staying for a few days and taking some of the amazing cooking classes, good for all levels and very thorough (plus you get to eat the food after). There’s also some spectacular beaches right nearby that you can get to with the driver or on your own. This is a gem in a beautiful city that you don’t want to miss.

This was one of the best most beautiful experiences. The Castello is STUNNING and has a rich history. It only has 8 rooms - so it genuinely feels like you have the entire grounds to yourself. It's situated in a town that is extremely local. If you're looking to off the tourist trail and enjoy delectable food, incredible service and one of the BEST overall vacations we've ever had. I don't have enough words. We will be back FOR SURE.

A truly special experience even from before arriving. The team helped us put together an amazing itinerary for our stay in Puglia - booking beaches, coastal private boat tours, amazing restaurants, hikes and more. We did two of the cookery classes at the Castello which were sensational.

As for the Castello itself, even the best pictures cannot prepare you for how incredible this place is. Restored beautifully with high spec modern finishes. From the moment you arrive and walk through the gate you are treated like family and this place very quickly becomes home from home. The grounds are spectacular and peaceful. Location-wise it’s a perfect spot to see the beautiful region. Best to have a car to get around but the Castello also has a driver service for trips that involve wine or if you aren’t driving. However you don’t need to go anywhere - the restaurant serves magnificent dishes and local wines.

The best part of the hotel is the team. Professional but relaxed, they work hard to make sure you have the most amazing experience and quickly feel like old friends. Roberta and team - thank you. I am already looking forward to coming back.

Visited Castello di Ugento in early July together with family (wife + kids). We were extremely pleased with the beauty of the site, both from an historical and cultural standpoint as well as from a comfort standpoint. Rooms were very comfortable, spacious, cleaned every day, equipped with sizable baths, flat TVs, filled fridges......extremely relaxing and peaceful, really top notch. The restaurant (we had breakfast every day and dinner for one of the evenings) was of a class by itself, with high quality food mostly prepared with ingredients sourced from their own gardens (within the Castello) and with bread / cakes / ice cream baked or produced in-house. Fruit was also fresh and of great taste. Service at the main desk and at the restaurant was also of high quality, very personal, always helpful in answering all questions and proactively engaging when a tour needed to be set up. All staff spoke fluent English. This is not comparable to a large size multinational hotel like a Marriott or a Hilton, often located in the center of mega cities, and in areas crowded by people and cars. Castello di Ugento is unique, provides a different one-off experience as it is filled with peace, relaxation, privacy, personalized high-quality service and structured (in terms of human resources) to support two dozen of guests at most. We used the Castello as a "hub" to then take our own car and visit the beauty of the Southern / Eastern part of Puglia, driving anywhere between 20 and 60 minutes at most from the Castello and enjoy wonderful places both on the water or inland. My family and I had a memorable and wonderful experience staying at Castello di Ugento. Thanks!!

The Castello was beautiful and so quiet and peaceful. The rooms were large and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was great. Unfortunately as the hotel had only just opened we were unable to experience the whole offering. We were unable to do a cooking class which I'm sure would have been great. We ate at the restaurant on the first night and the food and service was incredible. Unfortunately it was closed for the rest of our stay due to some issues outside of their control. We also received an interesting tour of the Castello and it's frescos from the friendly staff. The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Overall a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Beautiful property combined with excellent culinary experience. Attention to detail was noticeable. The restaurant, Tempo Nuovo, was to die for. Staff was attentive and friendly. Ugento is a quiet town but the Castello is 15 minutes from the beach and close to neighboring towns for day trips with the hotel's driver. Absolutely recommend - especially for couples.

We were the first guests of the season and they upgraded us to a larger suite. Absolutely beautiful and perfect. Sad for us that their restaurant wasn't open yet. Some issues with the AC, but they did their best to fix it and offer us options.

My wife and I had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations at this wonderful location. The food is fantastic with a real PUGLIESE taste. The rooms are 5* each one with its own personality.

But the best of all is the magnificent and charming staff that makes you feel like family from the moment you arrive. They provide guidance and support every time we needed it. They arranged for a special boat ride and recommended us the best dinning options in the area.

We can not wait to go back !
