Reviews
We had a wonderful experience at this hotel! The staff were attentive and kind, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were lucky enough to get an available room and were allowed to check in early, which was such a relief!. (If not, they do offer luggage storage at the lobby before the room is ready—very convenient!) The room itself was spotless and fresh—no trace of that old, dusty or moldy smell you sometimes worry about. Everything felt clean, comfortable, and well cared for. Truly a pleasant stay!
Clean, newly renovate, spacious room, lots of eateries nearby, just walking distance from Gaya Street, located in the downtown, recommended.
During this one-week trip to Malaysia, we visited different cities and stayed at various hotels. This is the only hotel that almost ruined our entire trip and our good mood.
Problems:
1. Extremely Poor Hygiene and Facilities: First, although we knew a three-star hotel might be just average, we specifically booked a high-floor room. However, there were no disposable toothbrushes in the room (we called the front desk, but they didn’t deliver them even after an entire afternoon). Second, there were small insects in the room. Both of us woke up with many red spots on our bodies, which were very itchy. Finally, the pillows in the room were extremely hard and high, so both of us had stiff necks the next day and needed to get massages.
2. Poor Sound Insulation: After 11 PM, we couldn't sleep even with noise-canceling headphones because the sound of motorcycles outside was so loud it felt like they were riding right next to our ears.
3. The Most Fatal Issue - Extremely Poor Service Attitude: This hotel seemingly exists to make money from Chinese people (I didn’t see any non-Chinese guests during my stay), but the front desk staff were extremely unfriendly and inefficient. When checking in, we were told we had to pay a 100RM deposit. We asked if we could pay by credit card (because the confirmation email before check-in clearly stated that payment could be made by cash or credit card), but the front desk staff said no and required us to withdraw money from an ATM. We were already very tired at that time, so I asked if we could get the room card first and go upstairs to rest while my husband went to find an ATM. The two front desk staff gave us a hostile look and said no, with no room for negotiation at all. 😲
Summary: If you don’t want to have sleepless nights, get bitten by insects, or be annoyed by brainless staff, please check out other hotels.
Great location - near Gaya Street, Jesselton Ferry Point, Suria & Wisma Merdeka Malls, restaurants, Handicraft Market, etc.
Room with good bed, 4 pillows (2 hard pillows & 2 soft pillows). Complimentary 2 bottled water & 2 3-in-1 coffee sachets. Electric water kettle, bar fridge, TV, etc.
Slight complaints -
1. rooms adjacent to main road can be quite noisy at night due to zooming passing vehicles,
2. sink that is slight blocked
3. No wifi
4. Shower gel should be changed to shower liquid (proned to get stucked in the given small plastic bottle container)
