Lintas View Hotel in Kota Kinabalu

I stayed at Lintas View every time I visited Kota Kinabalu over the past 10 years. Their location is great, but some rooms have no windows, are very dim and smell musty. I always chose a windowed room, but even then the bathrooms don’t have doors, so water splashes out when you shower.

Their male receptionists have been there for, I think, at least the past 10 years — but they always look cold and unwelcoming, never smile, and reply with short, curt answers. There is only one male staff who is better, but all other male receptionists' attitude is very poor.

The last time I stayed there was in March this year, and the stone-faced receptionist gave me a room where the air-conditioner was blowing hot air and not cold at all. I had to request to change to another room.

After so many years, the rooms look old and dated, with no renovation, yet the prices are not cheap. The only good thing is the location, but everything else really needs improvement.

Unacceptable checkout handling & rude front desk

Checkout time is 12:00 pm. We went out for breakfast and returned at 11:20 am, only to find that our access card no longer worked and we couldn’t enter our room.

When we asked the receptionist, he said the room access is blocked 30 minutes before checkout. I have never encountered such a policy at any hotel. It wasn’t even 11:30 am yet, it was only 11:20am, yet we were already locked out of our room.

There was no apology, no explanation beyond a dismissive “hmm”, and the receptionist appeared completely indifferent.

Warning to future guests: I do not recommend this hotel, especially if you expect basic professionalism. The front desk staff were sour-faced and unhelpful, making us feel like we were inconveniencing them rather than being paying guests.
