Reviews
I will start with the Pros. All staff, although most seem angry or bored, are very nice and helpful. Most don't speak English, but most speak German. They made all the possible effort to understand us and make sure we were comfortable. The area for kids is good, even for small kids, with varied toys (but lots of broken toys too!) and if the kids are not bothered by colder water (27oC swimming pool), they might have a lot of fun. All in all, I would say staff was 9/10, food was 8.5/10, and the room (we got one with a little sliding door separating the bedroom from the "living room") was 7/10, kids' areas (2 playrooms and swimming pool area) 8.5/10.
However, if you think you are going to a relaxing affordable spa hotel, think twice. This is highly likely NOT your hotel. In our view, the Baltic Plaza Hotel Medi Spa ("4 star") is more of a budget undisclosed Family Hotel. Starting with the "spa" area, the 3 saunas are in fact IN the swimming pool area. So, you need to use the sauna in your swimming suit, and you have no space to lie down and do your pause between sauna sessions. If you are used to using the sauna area to relax, meditate, or read a book, I warn you, this will not happen. The volume in the swimming pool is louder than in an indoor public swimming pool on a Saturday afternoon. The difference is that it is CONSTANTLY so, 3 minutes before it opens (10am, as kids and parents alike push each other to be the first to go in, and some of them don't even wait for the official opening, simply putting the waiting tape aside as soon as the watch hits 10am, while the lifeguard didn't even arrive), until its about to close (6pm on weekdays or 8pm on weekends). Moreover, the swimming/sauna area is shared with their new "twin hotel" (Blue and Green, where the restaurant is located). So we are talking about all rooms in two hotels sharing one small swimming pool (that gets uncomfortable with 15 people in it already), and two 3-people jacuzzis. Moreover, everywhere things are falling apart, both in the bedroom and in the common hotel areas, and nobody seems to care. The feeling is that they will let the hotel fall on itself. One last point is the fact that the hotel accepts dogs. Although I generally have no problem and most dogs are very well educated, lots of dogs also mean barking and eventually peeing inside the hotel, which I find unacceptable.
So, to sum up, the hotel might be good or bad for you, depending on what you are looking for. If you have (older) kids that can go to the swimming pool and the play rooms alone, while you chill in your bedroom, and if the presence of lack of maintenance and dogs doesn't bother you, the hotel might be a great cheap option for you. However, if you have small kids that don't like or can't go in colder water, if you want to use the sauna and swimming area to relax, or if you just don't appreciate the lack of maintenance, wet corridors (as children come wet out of the swimming pool to the rooms directly), the screaming children until 9pm, or the eventual barking of dogs, you should probably look for another option. We give the whole experience a 6/10 as we chose the hotel mainly due to the sauna and the thought that we could take turns to relax. It was the opposite.
Service was great, 👍
Food is tasty and delicious 😋
Overall I enjoyed it as much as my family!
Pool is too small for about 60 rooms, has 5 sunbeds, 2 jacuzzis, it's nearly always crowded. And we were there off-season.
There is nobody to help you with luggage, and you can't pick your room, if you'd have mobility issues this might be too much of a problem.
Nobody ever asked us if we are liking our stay or food. No apologies or refunds when we decided to leave few days early. No questions why and what's wrong. Rudely said "write down your concerns and send it to us". Hotel agrees to do a late check out depending on availability (1 pm instead of 11 am) which we asked for, and were granted it, but on 11:10 am on checkout day I received a phone call from the reception asking if I asked to check out late. I was already carrying luggage down.
