Muang Samui Spa Resort - SHA Extra Plus

A lovely resort located in the heart of Chaweng. The staff were polite and attentive. The room was comfortable and spacious with traditional Thai design. We had a great stay here but there are few things that could be improved, for examples, the options of breakfast were limited and not so various. Also the hotel front desk services could be better as one of the staff was not so enthusiastic and warmly when welcoming us - so our first impression was not that memorable upon our arrival, but other than that we enjoyed our experience here. :)

Nice resort but not 5 star. Had to move rooms because AC not working properly, jacuzzi needed cleaning and staff kept walking into the room without knocking. No apologies or gestures of good will.

Everything is great except too many mosquitoes.
It will be great if the public areas are installed with mosquito repellents (either electric or non electrics type)

Overall, a lovely resort in a fantastic location.
Situated right in the heart of Chaweng, the resort offers the best of both worlds — close to the action, yet tucked away just enough to enjoy some peace and quiet. The staff was warm and hospitable, and we had a mostly pleasant experience with them.

However, there was one disappointing incident.
While sitting at the beach, a local vendor came by selling coconuts. My daughter bought one, and shortly after, a waiter managing the beach area told us — rather bluntly — that we needed to dispose of it ourselves since it wasn’t from the hotel. When I asked if the hotel served cold coconuts, he said no. Later, when we forgot to take the empty coconut with us, he approached us again — this time in an extremely rude and unpleasant manner. It was an unfortunate and surprising interaction that left a negative impression.

Rooms:
This was the biggest downside of our stay. Although the rooms are stylish and equipped with good amenities, they lack natural light and proper ventilation. I stayed in a Grand Suite with a pool view, and while the decor was lovely, the room felt quite dark and stuffy. Opening the doors for light invites mosquitoes, so it’s not a great solution. Installing mesh screens or breathable windows could really improve the comfort level.

Food:
Nay at the restaurant deserves special mention for their courteous service. Overall, I’d rate the staff a 9/10. Breakfast was on the smaller side with limited variety, and the menu didn’t change much from day to day. That said, the food was tasty. I appreciated the effort the kitchen put into accommodating my gluten-free diet — delicious pancakes, sandwiches, and even desserts every morning. Chef Dee was particularly kind and helpful.

Final Thoughts:
While the staff (with one exception) and food were commendable, and the location is excellent, the room comfort and overall value for money didn’t quite meet expectations. I enjoyed my time in Koh Samui and will definitely return — but next time, I’ll explore a different resort.

Very nicely placed hotel for walking in the busy street of Chaweng.
Beach is very clean and due to lying behind the reef, very children friendly and no noise from the breaking waves.
Only downside this time was the construction site next to the pool area making this not very useable.

This is our 7th hotel on our trip travelling Thailand, and this hotel is by far the best we have experienced! It’s a tropical paradise in a great location for shopping, bars and restaurants. The beach and grounds are very nice and beautiful it’s perfect we love it! The staff are hardworking and professional, we were lucky enough to be given a room upgrade, we appreciate that a lot. Thank you!

Excellent Stay at Muang Samui Hotel – A Wonderful Experience with Minor Disruption

We had an amazing one-week stay at Muang Samui Hotel in Koh Samui, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and exceptional service.

The breakfast was a highlight of our stay – fresh, delicious, and with a great variety of options. It was the perfect way to start each day in paradise. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained, and our room was cleaned impeccably every day, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing environment.

One minor downside was the noise from the refurbishment of the new spa, which was noticeable while we were trying to relax by the pool. However, the hotel handled our complaint professionally and generously offered us a complimentary one-hour spa massage as compensation. This thoughtful gesture truly demonstrated their commitment to guest satisfaction.

Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall experience at Muang Samui Hotel was excellent. The combination of great service, cleanliness, and attention to guest needs made our stay memorable. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Koh Samui and would love to return in the future!
