Sayang Beach Resort Koh Lanta

The rooms are old and the bed is not very comfortable at all. I stayed at three hotels in Long Beach area and they have the least comfortable bed. The location is great. The restaurant and food are very good. If they fix the bedding and the pillows I would stay again.

The resort has a prime location at the north end of Long Beach. The front desk and restaurant staff were extremely gracious. There are 3 categories of bungalows and we had the simplest with "Superior". That meant: Pretty shabby, definitely in need of renovation. The better (more expensive) cottages were apparently already renovated and better equipped. We didn't have a fan, only air conditioning. Since there were no mosquito nets on the windows, you couldn't open them because otherwise hordes of mosquitoes would swarm in. So no ventilation was possible and after the shower the damp, stuffy air was in the room. The bathroom never got dry anyway because the drain was in the opposite corner from the shower. So the water was always running across the room and the floor was always soaking wet; even if you just wanted to go to the toilet, you splashed through it. As a result, mold has already formed in the joints/corners and it smells musty. The water comes out of the shower very sparsely; Washing hair can take a long time... The low wall base in the middle of the bathroom is a single trip hazard. There is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to cleaning the rooms. All in all, €46 per night was too expensive for the simplest bungalows. The garden area could use a refresh too. The peace and quiet in the resort was wonderful: you only heard the chirping of birds, cicadas and the occasional gecko. The food in the resort's own restaurant was very good and not overpriced and the cocktails were great too. The massages next to the restaurant were also great: the ladies seem very experienced and did a great job.
