White Sands Resort & Conference Centre in Dar es Salaam

The hotel's location and the rooms/bungalows are very nice. However, the stay was marred by a very dirty beach. While trash is collected, it's buried in a hole in the sand. The wait times at the pool restaurant are unacceptably long, and some staff members are unable to take orders in English. They also don't seem interested in asking if we need anything else. The food we ordered was lukewarm, and the wine we ordered was "forgotten." ;-((((

So if you are looking for a beach resort where you can swim on the beach, this isnt the area for it because this whole stretch of beach is extremly dirty and unswimmable. We tried to go into the water in the afternoon and morning (high tide and low tide) and both times the water was FULL of disgusting garbage and plastic. Its not the fault of the resort ofcourse, but this spoilt our holiday because we went to this resort to swim on the beach, not just be by a garbage filled beach. The sand around the beach was full of garbage too, not safe for babies. The swimming pool water was murky and not clear and it wasnt clean, it had some stuff in it. They should really clean it more often. We found some of the staff to not be that welcoming. Other than that, the room was really nice and cool, and the bathroom had the best shower I ever had. The garden and views are spectacular as well. The food (dinner) is quite bad in terms of taste and really expensive.
