I booked this room for a quick weekend stay. After checking in, we discovered that our room was in the Pinnacle building. When I walked in, I thought that the lobby on that side was beautiful. When we arrived to our floor, I started to worry about the room because the hallway was pretty dirty and smelly. The doors were pretty old and beat up as well. When we arrived at our room (oceanfront king room), the door would not unlock with our wristband keys. I called the front desk and she said she would send maintenance. After a couple minutes, I decided to try my key again and it worked. I assume that the front desk fixed it on their end. Maintenance never showed. Anyways, so we entered and found that the room had some updates. The countertops looked new. There was a huge smart TV and the ocean view was fantastic. However, the bed was super hard. It was probably the hardest bed that I’ve ever experienced in life. The room was also not as clean as I’d expect. It was not completely filthy but I definitely had to do my cleaning. I also was not a fan of the hotel’s service. We called and asked for more pillows about 3 times within the two hours that it took for them to bring them. The front desk said that we didn’t answer the door when we were first brought pillows. However, there was no knock at our door and we repeatedly checked outside the door for them. But whatever. On another note, the distance to the ocean water was short. It had great beach access and the location of the hotel wasn’t too far away from anything. There were restaurants and a cute little cafe at the resort. I didn’t actually go but those are nice additions. To sum up my experience, this hotel is a pure 2.8. I booked this hotel for a last-minute weekend getaway. Because of this, I needed a hotel that wasn’t too pricey and that still had King Oceanfront rooms available. Because of the price, I was not expecting everything to be perfect. If I were looking for an affordable room at the last minute, I would definitely return. I do feel that I got my money’s worth out of my stay.

We had an amazing oceanfront efficiency! We were well pleased. Close to attractions and a parking garage. The breakfast buffet is wonderful! Overall, a great place to stay. The only negative thing is service was limited due to covid.

Let me start by saying, I've had this room booked for a year. The closer we got to check in the more nervous I got from reading recent reviews. We experienced almost non of the problems other guests did. We came on vacation visiting family. So we did a beach day and my husband n I went to see if we could check in early...first even if you can't, they will still register you so you can use the amenities. We however were able to check in!! 4 hours early!!!! Now our room did have a musty smell to it, we sprayed some lysol and weather was so perfect we had patio doors open whole time after so it wasn't an issue. After further research the pinnacle building we stayed in, is almost as old as I am. So yes, it could use some updating but we were hardly in our room so it doesn't matter. We didn't stay there to be in our room the whole time. 👍🏻Fridge, oven microwave all clean and working. 🚫No bugs, no signs of bugs. Parking garages, little packed and inconvenient but, we only left a couple times. All the staff was friendly and helpful. We had no issues with housekeeping. We came back from beach one day and they had replenished towels and tp🧻. One time they had just put some of everything in a garbage bag inside our room which is fine. We never had to ask them for anything. Whole family enjoyed facilities, my husband and I enjoyed happy hour, right on the beach...we had nothing to complain about🤷🏼♀️ we will be back!!!

Amazing beach and great pools. But it's a hotel and it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had to sleep in. If they would upgrade their mattresses I would give it four stars. But the most important thing is being able to sleep. And you can't when you feel like you're sleeping on concrete. The hardest mattress with absolutely no give that I have ever had to sleep on. Woke up in pain every morning. I also was not impressed with their breakfast. When you have to pay $12 to eat the breakfast at the hotel, they should have better options. No fresh fruit, just a lot of carbs and protein.

What an absolutely atrocious excuse for a hotel in Myrtle Beach. We were forced to stay there through the Ripken Experience. The pictures look beautiful, but it is absolutely not even close to the actual quality of the hotel. For the insane price we paid (staying there in March), it is a major rip-off and scam.
- The rooms legitimately smelled like mold and poor ventilation. Stuffy and nasty.
- Garbage pickup is once every other day if you are lucky. The hallways are packed with garbage at all hours of the day.
- Our room was not cleaned one time in the week span.
- Towel rack collapsed off the wall randomly.
- Elevators take 10 minutes to pick you up.
- One employee working the coffee place who is slow- coffee takes 20 minutes each morning.
- Extremely outdated
- Towels were not replaced one time during our week stay.
- Beds were old and uncomfortable.
- Half the place was under construction/renovation
- 2 of 3 treadmills in the gym didn't work.
The place was bad. Please look to other places before booking here.

This was our family's 1st time at Compass Cove, September 2017 and we couldn't of asked for a better vacation rental! The staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant. My child is 14 months & my nephew is 6 years old the amenities for them were fantastic! As for the adults the pools & lazy rivers along with the 2 hot tubs were great (also kid friendly). I certainly recommend them to anyone with children or without. One nice touch is they have beach towels available all day long at no coast and they wash! The beach access is very easy and the Lifeguard is stationed right there, a lot of honey holes for shark teeth finding too! We certainly will be booking again for 2018 and we plan on making it a tradition.

We were set to check in at 3pm on a Sunday but it was closer to 5:30 before our room was ready. The pictures on their website must be from many years ago as the place is run down and could use a major face-lift. Our main reason for choosing this "resort" was because of the kids pool but unfortunately it was closed for an entire day during our stay. The room was okay and relatively clean, just really dated. On the morning of checkout, the elevators were down and the fire department was on site to fix them. Since we were on the 10th floor, we had to wait for them to be fixed before we could leave. Even after the fire department eventually left, only 2 of the 4 elevators were working and it took a very long time for an elevator with any available space to stop by on floor. We also requested a pack-n-play for our infant to sleep in but we never received it, thankfully we brought a small collapsible bed of our own to use. We just felt a bit deceived by the way the "resort" is described online. Overall, it seems like North Myrtle is the place to stay as all of regular Myrtle Beach has attracted a lot of trash and nothing appears to have been updated in over 20yrs.

Very nice and clean but rooms and hall smelled like cigarette smoke it didn't bother me much as a former smoker but my husband wasn't happy about it. The parking situation was tricky. There is a garage attached to the building easily accessible but it fills up quick especially at night and on the weekends, overflow parking garage is just across the street not a bad walk but there is no elevator in the garage across the street. Hallways will make you think you are walking in a old apartment building but the rooms are very nice. Staff is friendly and breakfast was great. Be prepared for a wait to be seated for breakfast. Multiple pools, and very easy beach access. I will be booking again. Do not use the app it doesn't work for check in

I have to say I am very disappointed the way everything went about during our stay there. We checked in at 4:30 pm. When we made it to our room, we find that there is cigarette burn that was on our comforter and through the sheets. We called the guest services to get it fixed and they said a manager will call in 10 minutes. 25 minutes went by and no phone call back. Finally, we got a phone call back and the manager said he would send some right over to change the sheets. 30 minutes pass by and the person finally shows up, but they show up with a fleece blanket! They said they would return and bring us new sheets. 6:30 came by and they still hadn't shown up. We were done waiting to we left. When we got back at 3am, NO ONE had ever returned to change the sheets. On top of that, I pull to shut the curtains and a LIVE cockroach comes out. We had to sleep there that night because there was one one at the front desk. We eventually got a room change the next day at like 1pm but they gave us attitudes. The managers were given us attitudes as if we were the problem. I was so infuriated. They put us at a huge inconvenience and they didn't care. They acted like it was our fault. When we made it to our room, we noticed we had no hand towels nor wash cloths. We called just to get 2 wash cloths. IT TOOK THEM AN HOUR! I'm so disappointed with customer service, cleanliness, punctuality, respect, etc. The money that we paid for to stay here was not worth it. I will never return to this place ever again and I will make sure no one else does.

Our room at affordable family resort, (which is owned by Compass Cove across the street) was very dirty and we found roaches on the wall and kitchen counter. This was the weekend of the eclipse and were unable to book a room anywhere else. When i brought this to the attention of the representative at the front desk she was very rude. We were able to move to a different room in the hotel but were then over charged by $277. Again when dealing with the staff about the charges i was told it was not their problem and would need to call my bank. After hours on the phone we determined that the hotel was at fault and had to have them fax paperwork to get the refund. The staff was very rude and acted like we were bothering them. In addition many amenities advertised were not available at this hotel. The slides on the side had been closed for years and there was no breakfast or working wifi. We had a terrible time at this hotel and would never go back or recommend anyone ever stay here.
