New owners and investors are working very hard to bring this hotel and water park back to a great attraction. There's a lot of time and expense that needs put in yet. That being said it was as clean as most other hotels, staff was friendly and attentive and accommodating. The kids (and adults too) had a blast. Everyone on staff was super nice and made our stay even more enjoyable. When we didn't have any regular coffee in our room they apologized and cheerfully ran us up 3 more packs. It was a great overall experience. They are not as fancy or shiny as say a Great Wolf Lodge and that's why I have them 4 our of 5 stars. Still great value for the money and great staff

My 9 year old son had a great time in the water park. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It does need some maintenance work around certain spots. It is also a labyrinth of hallways to get anywhere. I would recommend always going outside then entering through main doors to access your room or the water park and lobby. It was over priced in my opinion.

It is much less expensive than Kalahari or Great Wolf but you get what you pay for. We have been to all multiple times. The lazy river is closed most of the day (I don't think they are fully staffed much of the time). Staff has been friendly and the rooms were clean. Very close to all the attractions of Sandusky especially Cedar Point. Our room was clean and comfortable. There is a game room, indoor pool, jacuzzi and outdoor pool. This hotel is huge. Free breakfast was good.

Good overall place. Went for memorial day weekend. 2 pools kids had fun. Complimentary breakfast has tons of rooms for improvement. No ketchup?? Fruit? Bagels? Just cheerios, frosted flakes, sausage patties, and "eggs" Curtis from room service deserves a shout out. Great work, helpful and friendly.

I had an issue that I wanted to discuss with hotel management about the training employees receive for the registration desk, cannot seem to get any employees to respond. It seems that they do not give detailed instructions to the employees about guests with service dogs. I have found that they are lacking the basic knowledge of the ADA laws concerning the legality of the questions that are allowed...

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights after traveling back from northern Michigan and we enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was clean, the staff was kind, and our room was very nice. The staff was very kind and helpful. It's very nice inside the lobby. The rooms were clean but outdated for the price and it was a little confusing to get to the hotel so we had to go around the block (no big deal). Can't complain considering the cost. You get what you pay for. It was a pretty clean but outdated room. The initial smell was strange but after a little you stop smelling it. Bed was clean and comfortable and everything in the room worked. The people at the desk were nice too. Won't catch a complaint out of me, and if I needed a hotel to stay at in the area I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Very nice surprise! The outside looks like your typical older hotel but then you walk into the lobby and Wow! So beautiful, like a five-star fancy hotel. Rooms were very clean. Easy check in and price was reasonable. The only thing I thought was odd was there was no mini fridge. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

2 king suite turned out to be just 2 king beds with a Jacuzzi. Small bathroom. No couch. Decently comfortable. Didn't appear to be updated recently. We stayed in the 1995 honeymoon suite, needs updating but man it did the job. Door had an issue that only opened after sever swipes but the room had a nice big hot tub, fridge and microwave. Staff was friendly. Outside pool was hopping. Parking for our 26' moving truck easily. Awesome free breakfast. Best part of our move.

Service was fine. Room was plenty clean and the grounds in general were kept okay. Not too noisy. Roomed lacked a few amenities but nothing unusual for a motel. I wouldn't want to spend a day there but for a night's sleep it was perfect.

Everyone's reviews make this place sound scary and disgusting. I'm here to tell you that is untrue. For how much we paid it was completely fine! Floors were very clean, bathrooms were clean and mirrors were clean. The beds were comfortable, the staff was super friendly! Bathroom is tiny, but for goodness sake who gives a damn! We stayed two nights and had a fun time!

If you are in a rush or last minute findings peak your interest then this is the way to go. They are rebuilding rooms and cleaning out the old stale cigarette smell and trying to repair things. They are 55 dollars a night and offer weekly stays. It's not the Ritz Carlton but if something has to do....it will.

It's honestly not too bad. Paid 59 dollars for a room which is a good price. The pool is filled with rocks and not a great view but the rooms are just like your average hotel room. Wouldn't recommend it though.

We had tree beds separated by a bathroom. It was surprisingly spacious and not terrible. The beds were rather small. All in all, not too crazy

Stayed here beginning of June, which is normally a busy time of year, but this weekend was also ColossalCon and Sandusky Bike Week, so they were very busy. However, the staff was very nice and accommodating. There was an issue with my bill (I was charged twice, and it overdrew my bank account) and was told that it could not be resolved until after I had checked out, which was incredibly frustrating...

The room was reasonably clean and modestly priced. I stayed there 5 or 6 years ago, and vowed never to go back because it was the most disgusting place I've ever slept. A friend booked this room, and I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement.

We visited the island for the 1st time with a group of friends. we were not celebrating anything special just being together. what a fun place to visit. all of the pubs, bars, live music and dancing were a blast. we are going to make us an annual event. The hotel location was great but could definitely use some renovation. Pool bar was beautiful but too many people were packed into the hot tub.

The hotel room had a bad odor and was very drab. It was clean, but very outdated. I imagine they have a lot of big party groups in this hotel, and it is hard to keep up. Great location, great pool bar, great showers in the room. There is no full length mirror in the rooms, kind of a bummer when getting ready to go out. The beds are pretty firm, which was great for some members of our group but not for others. Overall would definitely recommend.

We stayed for two nights, and the hotel is an enjoyable location to visit. The Edgewater Hotel has historic charm, and the room decoration was attractive. We splurged on the front suite overlooking the lake and Marina, and it was perfect. The hotel is conveniently located no6 more than a block away from the ferry pier, which makes it very convenient.
