Where to stay in Hobart

We stayed for the first night of our honeymoon and they upgraded our room. It was beautiful and a massive room and bathroom.

The location and views were magic. So easy to get to and to access other attractions, such as all the great restaurants. Room was massive and very comfortable. The atmosphere of the public spaces is dramatic, yet sophisticated and comforting. All the good paradoxes! Staff are excellent, personable and professional.

Stunning hotel and amazing staff! Couldn’t be happier to have stayed here during our long weekend in Hobart. All the reception and service staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and our room was outstanding. I’m pretty sure it was the comfiest bed I have ever slept on.

This is a world class hotel with all the amenities you could want. Our room was enormous with great views of the harbour. The on-site spirits bar is also a highlight. Loved it.

Stayed for several nights as a getaway from Brisbane. Had a great time and experience! The hotel room did not disappoint and was of great style. Kept true to its roots with modern upgrades. A wonderful stay at The Henry Jones for work. From the moment I walked in, I felt looked after. The staff were accommodating and warm. The valet parking was quick to put the car away and to retrieve it. The building was interesting to walk around in. There is so much to see! The meals both in the room and the dining room were delicious. I can't wait to come back in July.

Beautiful property with amazingly furnished rooms, architecture and landscape. We originally booked to have dinner there but couldn’t make it as our flight arrived a few hours late. We emailed the hotel and they’re nice enough to prepare us a cheese platter in our rooms. Breakfast was magnificent, so is the space we dined in. The staff went out of their way to make sure our 97 year old Mother's birthday afternoon tea went off without a hitch. They helped with parking, changed our seating to a quiet area, and were helpful and super attentive. Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant location, central to everything in Hobart. However, the “city view” side is quite noisy due to the constant traffic which is a downside. Would recommend requesting/ booking a harbour view. Very welcoming staff and fast service. Room was nice with good selection of pillows to suit all.

Family of 4 stayed here for 2 night. Perfect location, rooms were lovely and large in size. Room service available and a restaurant down stairs. Parking available at a charge. We stayed at room 1221 over the weekend and it was absolutely lovely staying there. Location was close to everything. The view was amazing. Room was very good size for twin deluxe. Their shower gel and lotion smells amazing. The bathroom needed a bath mat i think to prevent slips for safety purposes.

Lovely hotel. Went to a conference. Large air-conditioned room with massive round tables. Had internet issues with some presentations and linking to people in other states. The breakfast is typical of a hotel buffet style. priced, a little over but not greatly. Shame they charge more for speciality coffee, was surprised by that.

The rooms are spacious enough. The bathroom was great. The view was amazing over the Derwent river and surrounding areas. Easy check in and out. Easy access to the restaurants around the hotel. TV great channels. Only tea and coffee making facilities. Would be much better with microwaves in the rooms. Comfy, big spacious bed.

People will generally go somewhere because the venue has something to offer that others don't have. The Casino is one such place. What makes an enjoyable visit and make one keen to return or pass on positive feedback to others will be the staff. Unfortunately the staff lack providing its clientele that special experience. I did not feel that special experience so I will spend my money else where next...

The renovations look great, the atmosphere is good, makes the place stand out from what are used to look like, on the downside. Dress code is gone out the window, the only thing missing from some patrons where thongs and hi viz vests. At least in the casino part, maybe a little bit of a dress code

Our night out watching Aussie comedian Dave Hughes was lots of laughs —He’s so funny! Trendy atmosphere, everyone dressed up and having a good time. Place was packed. Our Drinks & snack food were delicious. Easy access with plenty of taxis waiting to take us home. Our First time!

Been going to Wrest Point for more than 30 years now. Stayed there 2 years ago and the room was a good size for our cheap bums. Roomy for 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids liked the pool and mini golf. We chose Hadley’s Orient Hotel because of it’s old world charm and location. A beautiful hotel with wonderful, friendly and extremely helpful staff, plus it is only 10 minute walk to the Salamanca Markets. Our room was comfortable and well maintained. We enjoyed the ambience in the bar and a delicious meal at the restaurant, again the staff were wonderful.

What a timeless gem. The room was beautifully done up and very comfortable. The vibe of the whole place was fantastic. Staff happy to be there and overall could not speak highly enough about the venue. Comfort, quality service and location all 5 star!

Very nice and quiet stay. Top of Hotel which has strange windows behind columns, not a good view. Room was cosy and had 2 areas, bedroom and living area. Doors were oddly placed. Bed comfy. Room had a spa bath that took forever to reach half full. I suggest they rip it out and put a claw foot type in. Restaurant below very good food and service. Desk staff was nice.

Very good hotel. Clean rooms, excellent attitude from the staff. Like stepping back in time to a period hotel but with all of the mod cons. And quiet! Didn't hear traffic or other guests. The art gallery is very good too. We really enjoyed our stay and would go there again.

Mostly positive experience but a couple of issues. The mattress was pretty old and saggy. The big problem was that 2 nights out of 3, the phone alarm went off. Once at midnight and once at 6am. Great room on the 7th floor. Double glazing is really good - we get a nice view over the roundabout without having loud traffic noise. Nicely appointed room. Great location, just a short stroll down to some of Hobart's best bars and restaurants. We have stayed here a few times now and have not been disappointed by the rooms or staff. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous and the views from the rooms of either the harbor or mountains (depending on your selection) are great.

Just up the hill from Salamanca Place, a restored mansion that offers modern accommodation and amenities. The venue has all the mod-cons, great staff with ample knowledge of the island. Worth a stay with that special someone.

I've stayed here a number of times with work and I always enjoy staying here. The building is historic and while it has a semi-modern feel, the richness is starting to show its age if you look hard at the details in the room accommodation. Stayed at Salamanca Wharf Hotel as part of our honeymoon trip in Tassie and couldn't have picked a better location, lovely apartment and convenient location just a stone's throw away from attractions (Saturday Salamanca markets is almost on your doorstep!). From the moment I walked into reception, I was greeted by lovely and staff. The car I was driving was just a little too long for their carpark stacker. We tried… but staff promptly assisted with an alternative parking arrangement without any fuss. The room is perfect. The room service is great except they don't offer enough coffee, sugar and milk and you need to repeatedly ask at Reception. Parking is $15 per night (payable in advance) with no guarantee that you'll get a spot in the secure garage. No meals available other than breakfast - $20 if you book, $25 if you just walk in each morning.

Booked stay for my mum who is in her 80's. The staff took great care of her by listening and helping accordingly throughout the week. Mum often commented on the friendly staff, clean rooms and nice lobby. The location is perfect with the harbour and city at your doorstep. Very fortunate to have booked this hotel, real value for money. Many thanks to all staff again for taking great care of mum.

I was extremely happy with my stay here. Clean room, good view, great location, reasonable price, good breakfast at a reasonable price. I was really happy to have the microwave, kitchen sink and cutlery, plus cups and glasses, including wine glasses. I bought the makings of one meal at the little supermarket at Salamanca and was able to enjoy it in my room at my little table looking out at the view...

The rooms are clean the beds a comfortable,the staff are always willing to assist with any requests or issues. The only issue we encountered was the bathrooms are TINY and very awkward to use. They would be near impossible to use if you are a larger person.

We pre booked a large group on a road bike tour. We were at the end of our trip so exhausted and in need of good accommodation. Midcity certainly provided it. The staff were very helpful especially when it came to safely storing our bikes. They were also very helpful with getting us extra rooms at short notice. The hotel is very well located in the city.

The place is excellent and serves as a great base to see all of Hobart, Richmond, Port Arthur and Huon Valley. The hosts - David & Penelope - are exceptional. The cherry on the cake is definitely Penelope's gourmet breakfasts. Overall, a splendid experience.

Hubby and I went here for our wedding anniversary a few years ago we lived it so much we went again on another anniversary and plan to go again. Lovely decorated rooms to suit the period of the house and gardens. I also got to meet a cute geniue pig out in the garden. Breakfast was also amazing.

Nina is an exceptional host - friendly, welcoming and so helpful. She bakes delicious treats for guests including seeded bread, carrot cake, lemonade scones and home made yoghurt! Nina was an amazing host. With delicious home made bread offered for breakfast every morning, and on occasions homemade cupcakes. The house is beautifully furnished with lovely views and garden. The room was clean (Ellen Pearce Room) with tea and coffee in the room. The bathroom was a little small (but clean), but more than adequate for our stay. We will stay here again the next time we're in Hobart

The place is clean and on walking distance to cbd. Only issue is the mattresses. I slept in many hotels but this was the first where my back started to hurt. They are really soft. Not sure if it is because they are really old or bad quality.

Very nice hotel only a short walk from Hobart centre. We had a nice suite with 2 rooms. Nothing fancy but comfortable beds and jacuzzi bath. Members of staff were lovely from the receptionist to the cleaners. We spent 3 days there. The parking is 10 dollars extra a day. The breakfast was very nice but we would have loved to have 1 or 2 specials a day, like different mushrooms or even some vegetarian...

This was a last minute pick. Front desk staff friendly. The room was comfortable. On the Sunday we treated ourselves to the hot Sunday breakfast. The buffet staff were a little terse. This hotel is a 10 minute walk from Elizabeth St for shopping and Salamanca St. for the Sunday market and great restaurants and cafes.

Wonderful accommodation. A beautifully maintained heritage home in a fantastic location. Comfortable, clean and tidy rooms and bathrooms. Simple but satisfying breakfast. Cosy common room with beautiful board games and comfortable lounges. Perfect location for the CBD and the Salamanca market.

Stayed before and really enjoyed it, excellent breakfast. Unfortunately, this time the house is for sale and no-one on site to prepare breakfast so we had to make our own continental. Room & facilities great.

Very communicative and friendly with good service and a great atmosphere. Room 505 looked out onto the front garden but was also overlooking the main road so it was a little noisy in the night. Otherwise it was a great stay.

Disappointing to say the least, if you stay here, watch the pricing it could range from $300 a night to $180 a night for the same room depending whom you book through so investigate beforehand. The rooms felt cheap and nasty, a shower over a bathtub that felt unloved( old looking tap wear), the tap dripped all the time( my pet hate), there was a piece of rolled up toilet paper on the roof, the tiniest...

Hit and miss. The rooms are good for size. But its becoming slightly behind what others are offering in the area. That said the rooms are clean. Perfect location and onsite parking. Easy 2 min walk to Salamanca. Some rooms would have a nice view over the harbour. You need to check in at another hotel across the road.

Location can't get better than this. Maintenance is good and staff did a great job. The rooms overlooking the street get very noisy at nights due to weekend partying on the street
