The Welcome Stranger Hotel
Hobart, 58 Harrington Street 🧭 Map
Good place considering the pricing and location but room service was not too good. When we checked into the room, there was leftover juice in the fridge and there was no milk as well. Otherwise, it was good place with gaming and bar attached.
A hotel that does what it says - decent, clean rooms at a budget price. The pub downstairs has a particular character that may not suit everyone but as a place to stay it's central, clean, functional and budget priced.
Budget Friendly. Fantastic accommodation. Clean and tidy room. All the usual amenities in the room. And the bathroom is so much bigger than any other I have ever experienced. It's actually the size of a normal bathroom. Staff were friendly. The attached Hotel is welcoming with food, drink, and gaming facilities. The Salamanca markets are a short stroll as is the botanical gardens, the Marina, museum...
Nice, clean and comfortable in a great location. Compact rooms are extremely compact.
The food is amazing while the portions are very generous. The staff are polite yet friendly. The entire establishment is spotlessly clean, including the designated smoking areas. Only a short walk from everything and there are bus stops on the same street.
Great little pub, friendly staff, plenty of 8ball and arcade games

My family and I absolutely loved our stay at Macquarie Manor. Such a beautiful hotel in a gorgeous historical building. The owner and staff were all amazingly hospitable, friendly, kind and helpful. The hotel is easy walking distance to many great spots in Hobart. My husband, 2 children and I stayed in room with 2 singles and 1 queen or king bed (I don’t quite remember). It was a great room for the...
Can recommend staying at Macquarie Manor. We arrived early and dropped our bags off which were taken up to our rooms for us when we returned. Very spacious room, friendly hotel cat and lovely staff. Croissants and coffees in the morning were also a big hit. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Hobart
We went to Hobart on the 1st week of September. Perfect spot for us. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. We came in a bit early for our check in. We just want to leave our luggages so we can have a look at the city first. Chris said the room was early and hence we can put our bags and check in our rooms. Even gave us a free parking. Very accommodating, great service. The place has a very friendly...
An all round great stay. Clean, comfortable and great sized room in a character property. Chris was very friendly and helpful throughout with great communication. The free continental breakfast was an added bonus, especially as it included freshly barrista'd coffee. Well located to explore Hobart in foot and great eating options just minutes away. Nice to be welcome by Raggie the cat on my return each...
Couldn't recommend Macquarie Manor highly enough! My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon in April this year. Chris and Matt are so welcoming, friendly and they went out of their way to accommodate us. The hotel itself is really beautiful, and the rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The dining room was probably my favourite room to hang out, and I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and...
Really beautiful colonial heritage building with amazing foyer and breakfast/ reception area. However the room although massive was rather dated and had no windows and there was a constant exhaust fan running. Check-in is very limited and only available between 2 and 5pm. Breakfast was really good though however.

Nice clean rooms, very simple. Convenient location. Next to a pub/restaurant. It looks like a toilet block from the outside, but nice inside. Only downside was the small milks in the fridge were 6 months past their best before date and curdled.
Staff very helpful as we moved table due to aircon above. Meals huge! Plenty of space. Children friendly! Soup came cold but reheated ASAP.

3rd time I have stayed over the last 12months great location rates include secure parking which is so convenient, easy walk to the Hobart waterfront would highly recommend
Difficult to sleep. Outside the window is carpark and road, boom gate is directly below apartment; can hear cars, boom gate and voices at all hours at night. Indoor air is carpet stale, heating slow and stagnant; facility does not match the service or quality of nearby locations at a similar price. Property insists on only showing the fanciest room advertised and doesn't match the reality. Note also...
The check in was incredibly easy and the front desk staff were AMAZINGLY helpful and accommodating.
Great Location Our stay was comfortable. Great locations, central the business district, piers and markets. the only think I can fault, was the bed was uncomfortable and the doona provided was thin
Great place to stay - very comfortable and convenient. I've stayed here several times- always good. Also, it's close to various dining options, the waterfront and ferries, and - of course - Salamanca Market on Saturdays. Best locale (and Im speaking as someone who used to live in Hobart for many years).Thoroughly recommended.
The location of the hotel is very good. Salamanca district is right outside the door, especially the Saturday market, which is very convenient. There is also free parking. This time I stayed on the apartment side. The main building has a classic feel. See the picture. During the stay, there was only one time when the hot water broke down at night. I called the hotel front desk and they said they could...

Location: near to Hobart Airport, located at a residential area. Facility: fully equipped with kitchenwares, microwave, kettle, ,stove, refrigerator, air conditioner, free milk and some coffee tea provided. Overall is good, however the beds condition was all collapsed and soft..
Spacious room, a balcony with a nice view. Heating was enough👍🏻
This is a very good place for family trip with good view and amenities.
We loved our four nights at Bay View Villas Hobart. Our one bedroom apartment was clean and had great views of the harbour. We enjoyed afternoon drinks on the balcony watching the cruise ships and yachts. Our bed was very comfortable and the best bed during our Tasmania holiday. The staff were very friendly and you felt welcome. A short drive to Hobart or you can catch a taxi. Definitely recommend...
Bay View Villas in Hobart offers a delightful retreat for families and groups seeking both convenience and comfort. During our four-night stay with 12 friends and family members, the property proved to be an excellent choice. The location is particularly advantageous, being close to Hobart’s city center while still providing a tranquil environment. This balance between accessibility and serenity enhances...
Had a wonderful 2 night stay in the one room apartment! Very beautiful view from the balcony facing the city and the bridge. The room is also properly equipped with kitchen equipment for cooking. If you’re lucky enjoy, you may also get to see wallaby on the street or compound in the dusk or dawn hours. The laundry facilities on the ground floor is useful for tourists especially during the winter...

I was very happy with my one night stay at Quest Savoy (main historic building). It is ideal for a first timer to Hobart due to its proximity to the main shopping mall (which also has a Woolworths off it). There were ample cooking facilities but there are so many eateries around most people won't want to use them. There is no restaurant on site, but if you are wanting to treat yourself to a hotel breakfast...
I recently stayed at the Quest Savoy for a total of four nights in Room 1—three nights prior to my tour with Under Down Under Tours and one night following the tour. The apartment was spacious, exceptionally clean, and well-equipped with full kitchen facilities. The bed was very comfortable, and the hot showers had great pressure. The property is excellent value for money and ideally located—just...
We stayed in an apartment for 6 nights whilst my husband worked nearby and I worked from the room. It was very clean and spacious for our requirements. The kitchen was excellent and had everything I needed to cook simple evening meals. Staff are warm, friendly and helpful. The Savoy Day downstairs was a bonus and well worth the visit. Location-wise it was excellent and it was easy to walk down to the...
We stayed for 4 nights - What a great location so close to everything - Constitution Dock restaurants only 5 minutes' walk Supermarket one block away and the bus to travel around Hobart at the door. Was so easy to return to the airport from here as well. The service from the team was excellent gave us great suggestions for restaurants each we tried all of them and they were spot on for tasting Tasmania...
Stayed one night in the Annex building in a one bedroom suite. Please note that there are no elevators, so guests would need to carry luggage up the stairs. Location is central.
I stayed in a one-bedroom room on the B floor of the annex for three days. The three female staff at the reception were all very kind. The sofa bed was big and the room was cleaned well. However, the bathroom door was not well fitted. If there is no cleaning on Sundays, I think it would be good if all towels other than bath towels were left out for two days by Saturday. The location is great. Thank...

Huge suite. Expected more toiletries than just shampoo, conditioner and soap. Only one bin in bathroom so I moved it out to lounge - for such a large room two bins would work better. These are just minor of course - bed was comfortable, shower great and kitchenette handy. So disappointed with the pool - sad, old, sparse furniture and pool had bird poo and bees in it so putting on the filter more often...
The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout my stay. The room was impeccably clean, well-designed
What an amazing place to stay. The Rydges' team were wonderful - very helpful and obliging. Food at the restaurant was fantastic. Our Manor King Room was very spacious and spotless. Heaps of on-site parking. Great location only a 20 min walk to the Hobart CBD.
Were on second floor of main hotel and there were no lifts so had to carry everything up the stairs. Room was very spacious but the shower drain was slow and the main shower would overflow due to this. Also, when the room was refreshed the tea bags were not replaced. Great position and quiet but just a few oddities.
Loved the history of the building! Situated in a convenient but quiet location, price is very decent for the quality, and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The bed was so comfy it made it very difficult to get out haha - would definitely love to stay here again when in Tassie.
Wonderful staff! Comfortable and spacious room, lovely balance of heritage and modern features.

It was good stay need more attention on the shower. .
Walked in for check in, and not only was the process effortless, the lady at the counter was excellent. She made recommendations after I told her my plans, and it made the trip so much better. Parking was wonderful, I parked right infront of my room, the room was perfect..only issue was the hot water seemed to have a personality which resulted in me having a cold shower. Dinner was delicious, waiters...
Tasmanian Weekend The Shoreline Hotel is primarily a restaurant / bar facility with 12 hotels rooms on the back of the building. To get there you have to drive pass the dumpsters and a package liquor store which is attached to the building. The front desk is not really manned but they will find someone that will help you. The hotel room was quiet but a bit run down and we did not walk on the carpets...
Good mid range accomodation. Showing its age in quite a few areas with an obvious skirting board in need of urgent attention. Staff were excellent and bar and dining areas well cared for and our “snacking”dining was very good
Basic comfortable and reasonable amenities in room
Convenient and comfortable Lovely spacious room and very comfortable bed. Convenient for public transport and buying groceries.
