Reviews
Booked 2 so called apartments at this place on 1 May 2025 , around 170 leva/night breakfast included.
One of the apartments was some sort of a decommissioned restaurant.
Checkout in the same day at 10pm due to spider infestation and mold
The property did not offer any alternative
They told me to pay e fee of 100 leva for both apartments because I used it for half day.
Not true as we booked and then we were visiting Veliko Târnovo, upon return the insects crolled out from everywhere.
Anyway... bad place ,moreover for families with small children.
Recommended for people who wants to party on Halloween with real live spiders.
We were well looked after !
Shall return again ! Highly recommended !
Thank you Daniela, Preslav,Aylin,Maria and of course the lovely Svetlana and Todor !
5 stars !⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The rooms were alright, but they could have been cleaned better. I found a whole ball of hair kn the floor, which was unpleasant. Then we had issues turning on the TV and had to call somebody to come and do it for us, as it was a very unintuitive system in place. The pool was quite dirty, and after I tried to open an umbrella for some shade, i found a bathing suit hung on it, so i gave up. The staff were lounging around the pool, and when customers asked them for the bill, they would continue having a chat unbothered.
There is a children's playground, but it seems super unsafe to me. The wooden slide is quite old, and if it doesn't fall, the children can hurt themselves on the old crooked wooden boards.
The breakfast was mediocre at best, so we did not even dare to try lunch or dinner.
We found that the best way to go to Veliko Turnovo was with a taxi and leave the car at the hotel. I don't think, however, that we are going to visit again and don't recommend it really.
We had 2 big spiders (daddy-long-legs) in the bathroom and 3 in the bedroom, along with 3 grasshoppers. The bed sheets smelled clean and the rest of the room seemed as if it has been cleaned in 5 minutes or so.
The pool was nice and the view was amazing, it's a shame that the overall service is poor a.f. A friend told me that nearby locations are much nicer.
The best thing about the hotel for me is that they allow pets so we traveled with our cat.
The breakfast was okay. As a vegetarian I'm used to the lack of variety, but there were some options for me, too. :)
The one thing I didn't like was that the hotel itself is very unlighted... The parking as well. We arrived around 9.30 pm, almost missed the hotel as it's not seen from the road and in the garden was very dark as well. They did apologize from reception about it but still there could at least be some solar lamps on the path to the rooms. Only the next day we saw how pretty the garden was.
We were tired and didn't visit the restaurant for dinner but we passed by it and it was full.
The room was cold as the heater is situated next to the door and is controlled centrally. The sauna and steam room are tiny and get turned at mysterious times rather than be left on. As the hotel was fully booked it was unpleasant to have to queue in a cold room to get in the sauna.
For the Christmas Eve dinner they'd booked a DJ but the music was so loud we could' hear eachother, which didn't make for a nice experience. We complained 3 times (others did too) to no effect. Breakfast choice is small and you get free coffee but no tea ?!?
I could go on - it's probably a nice place during summer due to the open pool but it's pretty dire in winter.
It all began on check-in, as it turned out that they have given our room to someone else, although it has been reserved weeks ago. It took some time and argument to clean matters up, and the word 'sorry' from the receptionist was never heard.
My greatest complaint concerns the service provided by the hotel. As far as I can see, this results mainly from poor management. There is no respect for privacy. I had the unpleasant experience of having somebody charge in my room, unlocking it with an universal key, while I was still gathering my stuff. This was before noon, which is the checkout time. Not even a knock or ringing the bell, and, again, not a hint of apology afterwards. I was offered a blunt explanation that this was a routine check whether I have not stolen something for which I have not paid from the mini-bar. I may add that the mini-bar held only a couple of the lowest-quality mineral water and one can of beer, so I don't think I could steal anything, even if I wanted to.
The rooms are generally kept clean, so no major complaints here, although towels are changed only about once in three days. The cooking in the restaurant is quite good, however. Unfortunately, the policy of saving energy by turning off everything while you are not in the room (described by another unsatisfied client) still holds, which means that you can't leave your air conditioning on when you are away. As a result, the rooms are stuffy and may become very hot in the summer. The pool and the fountain are rarely cleaned, and this is known problem, judging by the odour of chlorine. The lawn is unkempt and the alleys are overgrown and teeming with biting insects.
All in all, I was greatly disappointed by my stay in Rachev residence, and I don't think that I will be visiting ever again.Again, I must stress out that the general personnel of the hotel and the adjoined restaurant looked to me like they were doing their jobs the best they can, but were deliberately taught to act impolite and even rude by their management. This is, I think, a sure-fire way of ruining a good investment.
