Fredericton Inn in Fredericton

I have never seen such a dirty pool. So much mold at the bottom of ceramic walls that I took a sample on a towel and brought it to the front desk. Ring of dirt all around the pool … not stained but dirt that i easely removed with my nail. Spa with peeling paint and water very very hot. Towels everywhere on the floor. I was going for a swim but the water did not seem clear so I left. I notice that comments here are answered with auto reply. I hope the Fredericton sanitation department will look into this

The room is okay. But getting to it really really sucked. Behind the building with very shady characters, through a door that does not stay open. And a room very very very far from only elevator. Not cool for 2 60+ year old women. Took 3 trips to get our stuff in room. Sorry but after making us wait for our room because our reservations were not in system. They should have offered an easier accessible room or at least a free breakfast or rebate of some sort. Paid full price to exhaust ourselves getting settled. And ending up on a floor where renovations are being done corridor is disgustingly dusty and full of garbage. Really far from only elevator. Kids running up and down corridor at 10pm screaming. I would recommend people to check the room before paying for it. Its a nice room but not worth the money we spent. For an very small extra we could have had much more luxurious. At the restaurant menu very limited. 45 min wait and there was only 4 tables being used so it wasn't because of it being busy. If we had not been so tired we would have gone to a fast food. It would have been cleaner than the dining room that looked like it was being used as storage and carpet was disgusting. Everything was just dirty and smelly. Sleep in car but don't pay to stay here. See pictures and the corridor you will need to walk with your luggage. Not a joke. It's the entire length to reach our room from elevator.

My wife and I stayed at the Fredericton Inn for a week in early November 2024. It was a work trip for my wife and I came along to look after our 5 month old.

From the photos on the website, I expected a much different experience than we had. It was very evident the moment we arrived at the hotel. I will begin with saying I understand the Inn is under renovations at the moment but it was clearly left WAY too long as most of the hotel is in a state of aged disrepair.

Before I start ragging on the place, I want to acknowledge the fantastic staff. They clearly care and were wonderful trying their best to accommodate all their guests at the hotel.

Our experience started with a broken trolley. All 3 of them are so old and broken but we made it work. The layout of the hotel is very unfortunate as the elevator is literally on the opposite side of the building. Once we got to our room, we were met with a clearly half “updated” room. Newer floors and a newer bed/TV/countertop/cabinet setup like you’d find in most modern hotels but it was lipstick on a pig. The bathroom was flat out unacceptable in my opinion. The toilet was running basically the entire time. The shower was very grungy with very little water pressure. The athletes that we were with had similar experiences but with mold/mildew on their curtains and in their bathrooms. Most of them didn’t even have a microwave or a mini fridge which is unacceptable in my opinion for any Hotel/Inn.

The location is also quite awkward as it’s between the by-pass and the regent mall making it arduous getting anywhere towards town. You either have to go out the back entrance and around the whole mall, or turn right out the main entrance and find a place to do a u-turn.

Also, the WIFI was non-existent. There are numerous options but none of them were remotely useable. This was an experience from the whole team we were travelling with. In late 2024, that’s just plain unacceptable and needs to be fixed. Also, it’s been a looooong time since I stayed at a hotel with only cable. Again, it’s 2024 and there are plenty of options for streaming services for hotels.

My last review will be for the Brass Rail restaurant. We had dinner our first evening in there since we had a long day of travel and not only was it VERY expensive, it was not good at all. It was a ghost town in there for most of the week and it’s completely understandable why. There are many better restaurants in Fredericton that we went to.

I’ll finish with saying that we will not stay at the Fredericton Inn again. The place frankly needs to rip the bandaid off and shut down while they do a complete renovation. There are lots of better options for the price in the area.

Visited the Brass Rail restaurant inside the Fredericton Inn for lunch on Oct. 29. I’ve been in many times over many years and have usually been very satisfied. But I actually walked out after ordering a BLT sandwich and soup. The toast was burnt completely black and the bacon was hard as a rock. The lettuce was also limp. Definitely not the usual standards and the restaurant was basically empty. The waitress kindly offered to replace the order but the next BLT was equally as bad, this time being served on warm bread with hardly any bacon. The waitress once again apologized, but it certainly wasn’t her fault, although I’m a bit confused as to why she would have even served such a subpar meal. She said the regular cook would be back tomorrow and that it was someone new in the kitchen. Respectfully, if someone doesn’t know how to cook bacon and toast, they probably shouldn’t be in a kitchen. Not sure I’ll be back after such a bad experience.
