1 / 50Stardust Motel Bedford
Halifax, 1067 Bedford Highway 🧭 Map
Sorry to hear about the abuse you are getting for rejecting a homeless person. I have and will always do the same thing.
Please refer to the Innkeepers Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. I.7 when it comes to the media. What you did is 100% legal and warranted.
The man did not have a valid ID or a credit card. It is hotel policy to have that for security purposes.
If I was the Stardust Motel I would be suing...
It's a motel. What else is there to say? Stay here if you just need a place for the night - not for multiple nights/ luxury. Pricey for what you get but location is decent.
Little weirded out that the door windows don't have curtains - so if people looked closely You're wide open to the world. They have some sort of privacy "tinting" but we could see anyone walking by clear as day from the bed. Walls...
It was the first time my son had ever been on a get away, he really enjoyed it..thought he was in his own apartment haha it was a great experience!
Great coffee too!!
Clean room, air conditioned, quiet, free parking, professional and courteous service. I don't know what else would one want. Also, big fridge, kitchenette and did I say all of this for less than 130 cad ( booked last minute),
What a delightful surprise. I payed for a ‘cheap motel’, as I just needed a place to sleep for 7 hrs, and I expected a worn and dated room, and instead what I got is an impeccably clean room that looks freshly renovated with a comfortable King bed and an immaculately spotless bathroom with a deep tub that looks brand new.
EDIT-
Although my initial impressions of the establishment were very positive...
It's a nice cozy place just at the Bedford Highway. The owner is really nice & the rooms are well maintained. Sobeys, and other eateries are around 10 minutes walking distance.

The Novel Stay
Halifax, 5611 Morris Street 🧭 Map
Location was great, bathrooms clean and modern, the people staying there were friendly and easy to share the kitchen with. I like this type of set up you do get to meet people from all over, conversations are interesting. Owner was easy to reach and allowed us to check out later when I asked if we could store bags after 11am.
Great location and really nice place to stay. Owners were very helpful - didn’t have a hairdryer in my room and they sorted it within 15 minutes. Would absolutely recommend and absolutely stay again.
We stayed at the Novel Stay for 2-nights with 2-rooms. Its an AirB&B type small hotel with affordable price. All the major locations are in walking distance. The facilities such as the kitchen and the shared bathrooms are in good condition. Some units have a personal bathroom but with clear glass and no shower curtain...
The most positive aspect of this place is its location. You can easily walk to downtown Halifax within fifteen minutes. We stayed at the Novel Stay for three nights and had to adjust living with a toilet in the shower. This was not practical at all considering there is no shower curtain whatsoever. Very strange indeed! I gave three stars for service since there were things missing in our room when...
Enjoyed my week-long stay; great small hotel for an affordable price. Good location close to south end and downtown. Units are clean and you have access to a common kitchen and bathroom. Some units have a personal bathroom. When I arrived I was originally locked out of my room, but a quick call to Neil corrected the situation. They also followed up to make sure all was well during my stay. Would recommend...
I absolutely loved this place. Right downtown Halifax for a very reasonable price. The rooms are lovely, and the art is one of a kind and quite amazing. The guy that runs the place is polite and helpful. Would absolutely recommend

Lake City Motel
Halifax, 40 Lakecrest Dr 🧭 Map
Registered by nice fellow, George who was quite helpful. Rooms were clean with new laminate flooring, table & chairs, fridge & microwave. The dresser, headboards & desk were all in matching blond oak. We did miss a blow dryer & coffee pot, but this place is close to everything. Quick walk down to Tim Hortons in the morning solved the coffee fix. I would definately stay here again.
Perfect stay for a night as a solo traveler. Nice and helpful staff, the room was clean, the full structure is monitored by cameras, even the parking. No smoking in front of the rooms. Laundry room is accessible for guests from 8 to 6 (washing machine and drier operating with 2$ coins).
Not the greatest place in the world, but it's not trying to be. My buddies and I graduated high school last year and stayed at Lake City Motel for a week. No parents. Just four guys, a car, and a week to ourselves in beautiful Nova Scotia! Totally worth it.
I've read some bad reviews on this Motel & after staying there for 2 nights, I totally disagree...this place was amazing...1st off...this place is an amazing value in today's economy...the room we stayed in was clean...the location is central to everything & anywhere you need to go...or shop...when we got there we had an issue with heat..only because we couldn't figure out the controls on the heat...
Loud, can hear everything in the adjacent room, no nothing to make a morning coffee, good if you tired and just want to crash
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Location is close to groceries and restaurants. The only drawback I would mention is the proximity to traffic which was a bit noisy at times.
