Very good accommodation for a short stay in Halifax. If you plan on being most of your time out in the city, this is a great fit. The location of the campus is great if you want to visit the attractions in downtown Halifax, such as the citadel or one of the many museums.
Best things about this place are: location near two city parks, yummy and hot breakfast, price is cheap 120 for three rooms, clean spacious rooms and many bath towels. challenging things are: no TV in rooms, no air conditioning and reception is very challenging. They gave me an apartment in the Rice building and I had to walk all the way three times or more to reception...one of them to get WiFi access...
I'm perplexed by the low reviews of this place. Perhaps it is because we had 4 people, so the two bed room suite was perfect. The room was clean and plenty of towels provided. The best part was the kitchen area as many of the inns we stayed were more expensive with smaller spaces. The breakfast was also fantastic. There was a huge selection of food including eggs, ham and French toast. There was also...
2 guys travelling from ontario got this place last minute. Ended up getting a 5 bedroom suite for the 2 of us it was awesome haha . You're staying in a dorm room so be prepared to stay in a dorm room. Very nostalgic from my college days. Great time great city.

We recently stayed here for two nights and we really enjoyed our stay. You can't have a better location, stunning view and you can walk to almost anything from the hotel. The room is spacious, with a couch, desk and very comfortable bed and very clean. The hotel was recently renovated and is located in a historic building so a bit different than a standard Courtyard but you have the usual amazing...
We recently stayed here for two nights with our 3 children. The location can’t be beat. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. We stayed on the concierge floor and had access to the lounge for breakfast and dinner. Great food and service!
NOTE: FOR this review, I am reviewing the building from 21 years ago, back then this was not a Marriott, rather it was a Sheraton Hotel. For my 9th Birthday, I had asked to go to a hotel just to get out of the house. We did that. The hotel my father chose was this one, the best thing about this hotel is that for a very small amount of the rooms, you have two doors, one door is the traditional door...
Stayed 3 nights. Rooms: No issues. What was expected, which is a very good thing. Parking: Straightforward, never too full Location: Hard to beat Extras: No upgrades unfortunately, but front desk was really flexible with my booking (i extended my stay). Minus: the water advisory
As a Marriott loyal traveller I do stay at Marriott hotels around the world., At this location I was blown away by cleanliness , level of service and attention to details. Rooms: I stayed in one of the harbour view room that was recently renovated with new carpet, furniture and new bathroom. View from the room was breathtaking and very comfortable bed. Housekeeping staff did amazing job! Food & Beverage...
Great location….poolside room was great except it had two double beds. We celebrated our anniversary there and upon arrival in our room there was a special gift and a card signed by individual staff members,.

I’m staying for several nights, and then traveling, and will return before I depart Halifax. So far the staff has been incredible, and most gracious. The Harborview is lovely, and best of all of the windows open!!!! The bathrooms are small and I prefer rooms without carpet, and sometimes there’s a slight lingering odor. Super clean room and excellent linens and towels. Scott the bartender is great...
Had a great week here for a work conference. The prices are comparable to other water front hotels in tourist spots. I had great service from food and beverage staff, and the housekeeping staff was amazing too. Great view of the Harbour, close enough to walk to great restaurants and bars. Only negative thing I can think of was the climate control in the room. I could not get it to stay at a comfortable...
Great hotel, with a perfect walkable location. I was extremely happy to see their dine-in options at Seaport Social have lots for vegans to choose from, including vegan french toast and a tofu hash brown plate. Room service also includes a great bean burger. Would highly recommend this hotel for vegans & for anyone looking for great service and location.
Fantastic experience! This is not a new hotel but very clean and neat. I chose this hotel as the last stop of my trip and it was very smart! All staffs were friendly, got a welcoming card and gifts from the general manager.
Best thing about this hotel was the service. I was able to check in at 7am as my room was already available. So grateful for that, as I had not slept on the red eye flight to Halifax. Also a lovely comfy room, beautiful lobby, great restaurant, amazing location with a great view at the harbour. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.
The hotel is right outside the train station, which is very convenient. The suite was also upgraded. The room was large and very clean. The front desk staff is very nice! There are many places to shop and eat around

A nice, clean, hotel very close to the waterfront. Check in and out were easy. Front desk was polite and friendly. Room was clean and well appointed, including a bar fridge and coffee machine.
Front desk staff are friendly and efficient, seem well-trained and equipped. Room seemed clean. Balcony could have used a wipe down. Your lamps with the metal mesh-like coverings are so, so ugly. An alarm went off at 6am that I did not set. Funny, I just read another review saying the same thing. Wifi was horrific. Extremely slow, I actually had to switch to my data because it's inability to load...
We had our wedding in the Bluenose ballroom which was stunning. We fell in love with the room as soon as we saw it. The event staff at the hotel were fantastic and everything looked/ran perfectly. Paul (Day of event manager) and Erine (Bartender & room setup) went above and beyond for us. The food was delicious and the poutine bar was loved by all guests. We did have quite a few issues with the hotel...
Great service. Clean room. Convenient location. You do have to pay for parking.
The restaurant was really well designed, not a typical hotel restaurant. We went for burger week, I'd go back again to check out their actual menu. My husband is physically disabled and we found the parking situation confusing

Location was fantastic. Waterfront was within walking distance and close to restaurants, bars and shopping. Room was very spacious and bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
Beautiful, charming old hotel with modern facilities. The hotel staff was super, always pleasant and helpful.  The hotel restaurant, “Gio”, was convenient and served excellent meals.  Morning breakfast (not included, but at a reasonable price) was very good too.
Comfortable Stay, but Food Could Be Improved The location was great, and although it was an upgraded room, the condition was very good. However, the breakfast was not very tasty, and the food at the hotel restaurant was too salty. Aside from the food, I was satisfied with everything else.
Very close to the attractions, beautiful scenery and very cost-effective
Very satisfied with the service. I have stayed in some hotels in Canada, including several five-star Fairmonts, and in comparison, the service in this hotel is indeed very comfortable. The location of this hotel is also very good. It takes seven or eight minutes downhill to the beach, five minutes uphill to Castle Hill, and less than ten minutes to the Public Garden. Breakfast is weak and lacks variety...

THIS IS A HOMELESS SHELTER. that said it is a very good one. Don’t know why they advertise this as a hotel anymore as it’s been a shelter since 2023. A a homeless person, I feel very lucky to be living here. It’s well kept, problems are taken care of quickly and the original kitchen staff provide us with meals from donations. People, this place saved my life.
Loved the location. We were in the city for a medical appointment and the location was just perfect for our needs.
It was wonderful experience to stay in this hotel. Very supportive staff , breakfast was awesome.
Good service. Check in was easy and room was clean. Only downside was that it's across a toll bridge from the city and we didn't know this before going (not the hotels fault but was difficult to scramble for change this day and age). Would be lovely if they provided tokens or passes for customers.
The actual hotel is starting to get a bit run down. The furniture in the rooms has definitely seen better days. Dings, scratches, and whatnot all around... but the people? Fantastic. Their housekeeping crew is absolutely A1, big smiles, extremely friendly and personable. I didn't deal with their front counter crew much, but every time I did I was greeted with a warm greeting.
Had an absolutely awesome experience at this Double Tree, was very reasonably priced and is in a very convenient location. I love that at check in you are greeted in a friendly manner and we're given warm chocolate chip and walnut cookies 🍪😋 The room was beautiful and came with a balcony. A great stay! It was convenient and the room was very spacious.
Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Accommodating staff at the front desk during my two-day meeting. Much appreciation for the team for going above and beyond expectations. Highly recommend.
Excellent Service, very good value. We were in Halifax for a funeral of a close relative and stayed for 5 days. Our son and his fiancé stayed for 3 days. A little larger zone for hanging up dress-clothes would have been helpful. But that would be the only real area of improvement I could suggest. It’s clear that the rooms have recently been renovated. Some reviews mentioned ‘dated’ decor. Not...
Located near the Bayer's Lake industrial park/shopping area, this hotel was an excellent choice for a recent business trip. Wasn't expecting much for how cheap the room was and was pleasantly surprised. Big TV, 2 queen beds, seperate desk and couch and a very nice bathroom/shower set up. Friendly staff at reception and very clean/modernized rooms for the price.
I was extremely impressed with the customer service at this establishment. They were so nice and accommodating to us when we told them our issues. My husband and I moved to this hotel 2 days after our stay at Courtyard by Marriott. This hotel is way better and amazing in everything. We loved our stay in this hotel. Great choice for reasonable price. Front desk very helpful with details for walking in the area. Bedding was immaculate, smells fresh like the towels. The room we had was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. I wish the AC had been a little more powerful but we stayed fairly comfortable nonetheless. Very spacious room and a nice bathroom. The included breakfast is decent, pretty standard to what you get at a lot of other hotels. Hotel staff was really kind and accommodating. And lastly, the location is good. Close to restaurants and about a 10 minute walk to the boardwalk

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Chocolate Lake Hotel. Our stay was highlighted by kind staff, specifically Simran who went above and beyond to make our stay all the more special. Great location. Nice ambience. It’s very close to my work site, around 2 minute walk with just one block away. Very nice reception and staff who would answer to your requests at their best. One thing I’d say is the cleaning service, where some of members are not the best at being proactive when I put my sign on.
Room was very nice. Pool was awesome as well as hot tub. Hotel is on a busy Halifax street but ample parking under ground. Down side to parking, cost $25. Staff were very pleasant. Checked in without any issues. Overall, very pleased with this hotel. Will definitely stay again

Location was great/ staff were so helpful and friendly / exceptionally clean / having laundry facilities was very helpful / was great having bistro in lobby
Friendly staff and lovely room, at the end of the hall, overlooking the water. So nice to have coffee in bed, seeing the sky and harbour!
Halifax Downtown Hotel Good downtown location. Across the street from the waterfront and its boardwalk. Good under ground parking. Room was on third floor right next to sidewalk that was a bite of disappointment.
Balcony was nice to be able to sit outside but couldn’t see street as view is blocked. Rooftop terrace was nice but it was cold. Be nice to have fire table. Pool was nice and hottub was warm but bubbles wouldn’t turn on. Bistro breakfast was excellent. Get the tator tots.
The hotel is in a great location, close to the waterfront and many restaurants. The hotel has a pool and hot tub however the hot tub jets and the timer were not working properly. Judging by the sign they had by the timer it appears this has been the case for some time.

Great staff. We had an issue with our room as it smelled strongly of smoke (it's a non-smoking hotel). Talked the desk staff who switched us right away. Rooms are modern and comfortable. The location means you pretty much need a car for everything. A walk to downtown Dartmouth is a bit of an adventure and will take at least 45 minutes a day. Restaurant food was good, and had vegan options.
We usually stay downtown Halifax however, the prices got ridiculous which meant we had to find a new location. Although the Delta in Dartmouth is no Halifax downtown it is a very great option.
