Quality Hotel Airport - South

My stay at the Quality Hotel Airport South was an absolute nightmare. The room was disgustingly dingy, reeking of old socks and mildew that permeated everything. The bed was so uncomfortable I might as well have slept on the bare floor. The bathroom was a cesspool of neglect, with grime coating every surface and a shower that dribbled lukewarm water at best.

The staff were shockingly inept and uncaring from the moment I arrived until I left in frustration. The receptionist greeted me with annoyance, raising her voice over issues caused by their own incompetence. Simple inquiries about extending my stay or local attractions were met with dismissive gestures. Despite numerous vacancies shown online, they initially insisted all rooms were booked. Only after a heated exchange with the manager did they suddenly find availability, attempting to charge me $135 more than my confirmed rate upon checkout, claiming their system couldn't adjust it. Their incompetence and disregard for customer service were appalling.

Breakfast was a pitiful affair, featuring stale bread and cold coffee. When a fellow guest politely requested more milk, the breakfast attendant snapped at them rudely, clearly indicating guest satisfaction meant nothing to them.

Cleanliness was non-existent beyond the lobby. Trash littered the hallways throughout my entire stay, and I even spotted a cockroach scurrying across the lobby floor, greeted by indifference from the front desk clerk when I reported it.

The noise levels were intolerable, with paper-thin walls that transmitted every sound from neighboring rooms. Doors slammed incessantly throughout the night, ensuring I got no rest whatsoever.

Feeling unsafe and unwelcome sums up my overall experience. The hotel's location felt shady and forgotten, adding to the dismal atmosphere. I wouldn't wish this stay on my worst enemy—steer clear and save yourself from the misery I endured.

Thankfully, I found refuge at the Executive Plaza on 405 North Rd, Coquitlam, BC, a mere 20 minutes away from the disaster that is the "Quality" Hotel Airport South. For a significantly lower rate, I enjoyed a luxurious room with a spacious tub, a balcony, and exceptional service from the Executive Plaza staff. Staying there made me feel like royalty after the ordeal at the Quality Hotel.

Pretty brutal spot for 300+ dollars; I’ve stayed in worse but never for that price, it’s noisy all night. The rooms are dated, smell off, and aren’t very clean. On top of that the airport shuttle driver fell asleep while driving me to the airport at 6:30am, pretty ridiculous. If you’re staying here I hope it’s only for one night for a flight.

I’ll start with the positive- this hotel is cheap and close to the airport. My family stayed here after a late flight before we hit the road the next day. Quality Inn offers an airport shuttle and free breakfast.

Now for the overwhelming cons. The hotel was under construction when we stayed. Parking was taken up by work trucks. Several accessible features like door buttons were absent. One of the beds in our room smelled like urine and there was hair left in the bathtub. The breakfast consisted of fake orange juice and day old muffins. When we mentioned these issues, staff said there was nothing they could do. This is absolutely the lowest budget option!!

We stayed here between our flight and taking the ferry to Victoria the next day, with the full knowledge that this was not going to be a luxury stay. I still wish it had cost us a lot less for what we got though.

The shuttle from the airport was on time, a newer Transit style van and comfortable.

The room smelled a bit off and the bed seemed small for a queen even though the front desk insisted it was a queen. Lots of noise which I was thankfully able to cover with a white noise machine, otherwise sleep would have been very difficult. Blackout curtains didn't quite cut out all the light.

The toilet had a supply line leak, something that in theory, should have been noticed before we checked in. It was mentioned to the front desk at checkout as we were only there for a short time and moving rooms wasn't worth it.

Free breakfast was a big disappointment. The waffle maker made me feel initial optimism until I came close to it and realized that it has likely never been properly cleaned. It had black crusted on grime covering the outside. Being hungry and pregnant, I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and sprayed it with cooking spray before using it. My waffle was impossible to remove after though, and I had to leave it and eat toast instead. The eggs were rubbery and sausage was overcooked. They do provide yogurt at least.

If you're not picky and only there overnight, it's maybe not the worst place to stay. We definitely won't be back.

Staff was unpleasant. Rates are way above what the hotel should be. I needed some water. 1 machine on location but was only coin operated. Airport shuttle was way to early or late. If I could have canceled this booking I would have. Lots of much better hotels in the area and cheaper. Do not recommend
