Where to stay in Lam

I stayed at the Hotel Sonnenhof for three nights with a friend in March 2023. It was our second stay and I wrote a review last year, so just a few observations on things that have or haven’t changed. We had room 101 in the main building this time, which was a little more spacious than the one we had last year. It was more nicely decorated as well. A tea station for the room could have been ordered...

Excellent hotel , new and amazing SPA with Panorama Sauna, great view on the mountains, best breakfast buffet and delicious dinner, don’t miss the massage and the Gym with Milon circle work out. Golf and Indoor/Outdoor Tennis at the Hotel.

First class all the way!! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The property was clean as expected. The food and the food service was exceptional. It is definitely the best class hotel in the area.

It's very nice place. With very friendly personal. The kitchen is traditional and fresh. Nevertheless needs some small details like, bodylotion in the rooms, proper size of capuchino cups and cold water dipping pond in the sauna area.

A super cozy hotel with very friendly staff! The welcome was warm and welcoming – you immediately felt welcome. You can tell that the hotel regularly invests in and maintains everything well. Great hotel with its own wellness area. Half board is extensive, dinner with plenty of choice and always delicious and attractively prepared.

The location is good. The swimming pool and the sauna are quite ok. Despite the lack of staff, the employees tried very hard. The rooms in the main building are no longer brand new and the old carpet in the main building smells very musty. That would have to be fixed.

We were guests with a group over New Year's Eve. Everyone loved the rooms, indoor pool and sauna. The friendly manner of the hotel family and waiters is just as outstanding as the kitchen. Repetition possible.

We were in Lam for a short trip. We felt we were in very good hands! The operator family is very hospitable and the waiter is very accommodating! The double room is large and had a beautiful view of a pond! The room was cleaned very well! We felt very good and personally looked after and would come back for a few days at any time!

Pretty nice hotel, close to ski slopes by the Czech border. The furniture and tv in my room was a bit dated, but I was comfortable. Has good breakfast and a pool with sauna.

Room a bit old, but not too tragic. The hotel makes up for it with the super friendly staff and the excellent food. We felt very comfortable.

The restaurant offers a first-class selection of dishes, the quality of the dishes leaves nothing to be desired, perfect The service staff friendly. For 11 years now, we have been coming to eat there every September, during our vacation in Lam, and have NEVER been! disappointed. Really to be recommended with a clear conscience.

The boss in the house is very nice as well as the entire service staff. The food is also very good in my opinion. The rooms and the whole house are in a clean condition. The view from the rooms on the south side is beautiful. We would love to come back.

Traditional guesthouse on Lam market square. We had a fantastic stay, our room was spacious and we especially loved the large balcony. The osserbad pass was great, especially with a young family. The hotel was in a fantastic location , 3 restaurants less than 1 minute walk away. We enjoyed the lovely breakfasts and we received excellent service from Ramona, we hope to be back next year. The rooms are big and tidy. There is WiFi, a TV and every room has a balcony. Only the furniture is a bit older, but in order. I can't comment on the food as I was part of a group at another hotel and ate there.

We are only sleeping guests in this hotel, so we cannot judge the food, but we can judge the hospitality of the staff and they are extremely polite and courteous, you feel very welcome. To the rooms, It is a very rustic style of furnishing, takes a bit of getting used to, but very clean and that is the most important thing.

I was enthusiastic about the flair of the café, the Agnes Bernauer Torte, the charm of the toilet and the polite, courteous and extremely friendly manner of the host and his lovely employees. Great homemade cakes, coffee specialties and a nice chat with the host.

I was extremely satisfied with this accomodation. Very nice staff, very comfortable room, great bed and cover! I loved sleeping there. The breakfast was very good also, I didn't miss anything. I enjoyed the free entrance to the Osserbad aquapark. The only thing I didn't especially like was the meal I got for supper. Eating next door at Hotel zur Post is a good idea! We booked an apartment with half board. The apartment itself and the entire hotel complex is very clean. At dinner you can choose between two main courses, which tasted very good. You also got another portion if needed. Furthermore there was always a salad buffet, a soup and a dessert. I cannot confirm negative reviews that have already been given.

The apartments are located in separate buildings within a few 100m's of the main hotel building with restaurant, sauna, spa and kids play area. The restaurant was convenient, spacious and the food generally tasty and varied. lunches were very basic; usually a soup. Breakfast is fine but no fresh juice etc. sometimes eggs. Kids play area is in the basement a long way from the restaurant. Otherwise ok...

You can only find the new sauna area if you ask around. It is poorly described as you have to go through the old sauna area. The outdoor pool is wonderful, the indoor pool is very noisy with many children and you can hardly swim. Dinner is great! With 4 stars one expects liquid soap and conditioner. Too bad this was missing.

We traveled with our granddaughter to the hotel the rooms are clean and taken care of and the hotel staff were all very nice and helpful.

Unfortunately we could not use the sauna because it was always occupied and there were no appointments. The breakfast buffet was very good and varied. At dinner the desserts were too powerful for me.

Very nice hosts, very accommodating and friendly. The children had a lot of fun with the many farm animals and driving the tractor. The daily feeding was always a highlight. The farm is a very good starting point for activities and excursions. Everything is easily accessible in town. Thank you again for the beautiful days on your farm.

Cozy room with a nice balcony, good home-style cuisine (a little more vegetarian selection would be desirable), great sauna area for relaxation (can also be used during coronavirus), friendly staff. Top price-performance ratio!

What should you say or write! I can't think of anything negative to report. I would need a lot of time to mention the many positive aspects and the list would be forever long. Maybe just so much, next year you are back in the Bavarian Forest and our accommodation is already fixed. It can only be the Arracher Hof! We spent 4 lovely days with 3 adults and 2 children (17 months and 7 years). We had a suite with 2 bedrooms, a large bathroom with shower and bathtub and a nice living room. We were in the hotel for 5 days, it is in a great location and the staff is friendly and caters to the wishes of the guests. Breakfast and dinner are okay. The sauna can also be used with a great winter garden as a break on the whole, the price-performance ratio fits

Got a room at short notice and were able to check in well before the agreed time. The location directly in front of the Osser makes the hotel the perfect starting point for mountain hikes. Priced well below the competition from Lahm.

Rich breakfast, room and hotel very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Bed unfortunately with a footboard, not suitable for tall people. Had to lie diagonally to bed because of my 1.91m height. But still very comfortable. Unfortunately, the ventilation in the bathroom is very loud, even when the light is not on. It was still a very nice stay with a great panorama.

Spent our last vacation there. Were taken care of in such a friendly and attentive manner that we already decided on the spot to come back for Easter. Mega breakfast buffet, great view and nice relaxation offer. Cleanliness is expected everywhere, but I particularly noticed it here. Really worth a stay. We're looking forward to it.

The Grünwies is a very nice hotel with a pool and sauna, quiet rooms with a sunny balcony and a beautiful view, everything is very clean and there is a really great breakfast! Stayed here for new years eve in the beautiful Bavarian forest. The hotel is not an old castle even if some rooms or an outside view from one angle looks like one. The hotel consists of a main building and some satellites. Some of those are connected by underground tunnel walkways. Some of the satellites like our 4 flat house are rather old and you must walk outside quite a bit to reach the Restaurant...

Nice hotel located in a tiny village in Bavaria near the border or czechia. The rooms are nice but I could not use the shower properly because of the roof. There is WiFi but you have to pay for it and you can only use it in the lobby and restaurants which is a downer. Besides that the food is okay. The breakfast is very geman and dinner is a buffer with also mostly typical geman food that goes well...

Wonderful 3 days we spent here. Great Location. Very friendly staff and a family atmosphere have ensured that we felt completely comfortable and cared for. Our room with a fantastic view. The Hotel forest schlößl is unique in what relates to the family atmosphere. The rooms are top notch. The culinary delicacies in the Hotel as well as in the newly established forest lounge enchant every palate. The Spa area is beautiful and the new pool invites guests to Relax. All in all, Top!

Our stay was wonderful, the boss was very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. The hotel is wonderfully decorated, old fashioned and modern at the same time, we had everything we needed. We had the wood room for 6 days at the end of August including half board. The boss and her son were very good hosts, we felt very comfortable with them! Excellent hotel within the Bavarian forest. The owners are very friendly and I highly recommend the 1/2 Pension as the meals are wonderful. Take a stroll through the herbal garden to relax and enjoy nature.

The food is excellent and the location is great! The people that run the place are very friendlly. Nice beer and a very nice terrace! On weekends they were cooking their specialities in a wood fire! Very clean and quiet! The area is wonderful! Prices are very good for the services they offer! If you go to Neukirchen, have a stop there!

We went around 8:00pm and it was a short menu so hard to tell how good this place can be. I just got German potato salad which was average grocery store quality. I did taste the sausage and it was good. This place accommodates groups well and is a nice atmosphere right near the museum in NeuKirchen.

The hotel itself is calm and comfortable. Rooms are nicely renovated and the location is nice. The only negative thing was the service, as we felt quite unwelcome from the second we arrived until we left. These things are highly subjective, but the person serving us (who we believe was the owner) was rude and unfriendly. Why? We do not know.

Very good facilities, friendly staff (although they speak a very poor English, they were trying to help). I'd say this is perhaps the best hotel in the city. The restaurant is open until later than other guesthouses in the area. A menu in English would be helpful.

Room was clean, breakfast quite good and variate. Omelette and warm food missing. Decent coffee tough. Only the boss is speaking English. The value for the money was good and I will return if I will need to visit that location again.

Beautiful hotel with a swimming pool, all inclusive from breakfast and lunch to afternoon coffee and cake and a hearty dinner with nice people in the evening in the bar, everything is there, not far from the Czech border, interesting for shopping!

The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly. There are lovely hikes in the surrounding area, and there's plenty to do for children. The rooms are clean and functional. We had a terrace. The pool was 28°C and the whirlpool was 32°C. Breakfast and dinner were buffet-style. Drinks are free. Everything was excellent.

A great short trip. The room and food were top-notch. We lacked nothing. The meal times meant there weren't any crowds at the buffet. We used the indoor pool every day. Excursion tips are available at reception. We especially enjoyed the various activities for the kids, including cotton candy, magicians, and more.

We have been vacationing in the Bavarian Forest for over 40 years. And every time there is a meal at the Rappenhof on the agenda. It's one of those old characterful hotels with a huge dining area on the ground floor and the guest rooms above. The Rappenhof is in a quiet location despite good connections.
