Excellent location by the main station and next to the Harz steam railway station. There is an excellent Italian restaurant next door if you don't want to use the hotel restaurant.

We only stayed one night but really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay again. Room was lovely spacious and clean, perfect fit for family with small children. Front desk staff were lovely and helpful. Continental breakfast was great with loads of choice.

The people who work there are so sweet, breakfeast was good and it was very convenient that it was so close to the train station. Absolutely recommend this place 🌼🌸🌼

The breakfast and location were excellent, we had had a long journey from Holland to get here, it was about 35 miles from the autobahn and a welcome change of environment. Saubere und moderne Zimmer mit täglicher Reinigung. Wir hatten ein Bad, das sehr modern war. Wenn man abends nicht mehr aus dem Haus wollte (was bei uns so vorkam), konnte man im gut bürgerlichen Restaurant fein essen. Die Küche schließt um 20 Uhr, das Restaurant um 21 Uhr. Es wird großen Wert auf Nachhaltigkein und Regionalität gelegt. Sehr beliebt auch bei Ortsansässigen.

Nach vielen Umleitungen fanden wir endlich nach langen Umwegen unser Hotel am Ende von Stolberg gelegen. Alles war gut vorbereitet und so erhielten wir unser Zimmer im 1. Stockwerk. Poor service and a really long waiting time to get the food. More than 1 hours, and the dishes were simple (pizza). Only accepted payment is by cash.

The place itself is a dream. In October / November there is nothing as relaxing and quieter than Stolberg. We were now already 5 times over there and in the Chancellor. Says it all really. The staff is nice, friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are functional and clean. Price - performance is perfectly fine. We still had to find fault, never anything to. Come always gladly again here.

We were housed at the end of June 2014, for 6 nights at the Hotel Chancellor ( guest house ). The room was spacious, the bed was good. The chairs were the seat uncomfortable. If you lay in bed and still watching the TV, so you got some time Neck pain. Because the TV stand is too deep, it would be better if you would have mounted the TV on the wall. Stolberg is a nice little town to visit and location of hotel is almost at mid-point of town. The room was good and clean. The staff at reception were really nice, welcoming, and helpful.

If you're looking for a old fashioned hotel, this is the place. So everything is old, except the wellness section which is the only reason we choose this hotel.

Nice place, friendly and helpful staff and great food. No air conditioning, if your room is on the street side of the hotel forget getting much sleep unless you close all windows and fight the warm stagnet air.

One of the beat hotels I stayed at on my 3 week journey through Germany. The restraunt has great food and a wonderful breakfast. The town is as good as Rothenburg ,but not as busy. The crown jewel of this hotel I would say is THE POOL. look for the buttons on the wall below the water surface. There are 6 of them. 6 different things happen. Be amazed. We didnt want to leave the pool.

The room was brand new, perfect, clean, quiet, modern and had a great TV screen. (we stayed in the coach house) Enough parking spaces. The breakfast was the best we ever had; all you can think off and more all fresh and tasty; even several vegan options! Specific needs will be fulfilled no questions asked. We also had dinner twice this was Michelin star worthy!!

Anyone looking for a place of rest and relaxation has come to the right place at FreiWerk. The house is beautifully located on the edge of Stolberg, right in the middle of nature. The very attentive service and the extremely good kitchen made us feel completely at home. Absolutely deserved 5 *!

We have been to Freiwerk many times now. It is always characterized by its consistently excellent service and the quality of the food is consistently excellent. What is particularly great is that the card is constantly being renewed, which means that it doesn’t take a long time to come up. The barbecue brunch on Sundays in summer was also great and super relaxed in this great location.

The rooms have different sizes, however, are spacious. Very clean. The Breakfast Buffett was above average for a guest house. The staff accommodating and very friendly. We had a coupon and got a 3Gänge menu. The food was delicious. We can recommend the Gasthof.

Superb hotel, every little detail exceeded my expectations ! The rooms are spacious, cosy and quiet, in a contemporary style. The spa and welness area is just perfect, 2 swimming pools, many saunas, and other facilities to enjoy a perfect stay. In the area, many departures for beautiful hikes in Harz natural park. Amazing breakfast with local and fresh products !

Great spa, friendly staff, delicious food..... If you are in the right room it will be a 5 star experience. Not all rooms are equally nice though. Some have an odd view (roof or wall of adjacent building), some are next to a heavy door to the corridor which keeps banging, some are next to the housekeeping room and early in the morning the trolleys run back and forth, some are above the kitchen and...

I have been here for 2 weeks for work. The spa is a great pleasure after a hard day's work. I had the honor of eating the delectable dishes of Eric Jadischke. He deserves a star on the guide Michelin. The hospitality of the hotel staff and the great dining attendantsmake it feel like home away from home. Keep it up

We will come here time and time again. We have already booked our next trip and will spend Christmas here. As a couple, with or without dog, this place is wonderful. Surrounded by forest and an oasis to just relax and enjoy great food, nice restaurants (there are a few on the premises) great wine selection, excellent Bar, and perfect service.

We really had a wonderful 4 days holiday. Quiet and idyllic location at the foot of the wooded Harz mountains. Incredibly friendly staff. Tasty dinner and breakfast menu was good and was completely renewed. Good parking space. The rooms with balcony have a wonderful view.

We had a very nice short break in the hotel, the hotel and the garden are in a very well-kept condition I can only recommend it. The rooms are clean and spacious and the breakfast is superb. In winter you can find great slopes with ski lifts nearby. Summer leaves nothing to be desired for hikers and explorers. Have fun visiting, it's worth it!

Very friendly dutch couple hosting this hotel. Beautiful located and as a political/social scientist I was especially fascinated by the fact that this is just a few hundred meters from the old BRD/DDR-border. Here you can combine nature with fascinating historical sights. Very recommendable

October 2022 we spent a week looking for peace and beautiful autumn colors in the forests and mountains of De Harz. What a great environment. We were amazed in the cities of Goslar, Quedlinburg, among others, we walked over the longest suspension bridge in Europe and went with a steam train to the Brocken (highest mountain Harz). We had a balcony with 2 chairs and a small bench and a nice view. + Friendly staff + Balcony + Possibility to rent e-mountainbikes. + Nice TV, although placement could be better. + Clean and modern bathroom with good water pressure. - We did not like the pillows. - Staff didn't all speak English, but was not a problem for us.

Beautiful well-kept apartment. Apartment corresponded exactly to the description in advance. Keys were handed over without any problems at a key box. Good quality facility. Fully equipped kitchen. Shops in the area. Small minus point... The wifi didn't work properly. There were always disconnections.

We spent a great week here, the location of the semi-detached house is quiet and idyllic and Hasselfelde is located overall in such a way that you can explore the whole Harz from the middle. Key handover was easy, don't forget cash for visitor's tax and any extras booked! There is 1 star for the lack of WiFi, the router was dead and was not repaired during our stay. Warm hotel with a decent breakfast. The rooms are clean and of a good standard with TV and WiFi. The balcony on which we could enjoy the autumn sun was very nice.

Always my pleasure! The guest and their well-being come first here. You can see how much effort and energy is invested here. The balconies and the garden are always lovingly planted, everything is clean and tidy and you are always greeted with a smile.

When we arrived (slightly late), we were warmly welcomed by the friendly owner. As the hotel was not fully booked, we were offered a much more spacious apartment instead of the standard double room that we had booked. Although the house is a bit older and the furnishings are a matter of taste - I would still come back anytime!
