The hotel is idyllically situated in the middle of the forest, and the conservatory, where breakfast is served, offers a lovely view. The sauna is also very nice. Unfortunately, everything seems a bit neglected, and the owners appear to be newcomers to the industry. They are very friendly and accommodating but need to pay more attention to the details.

We stayed one night at the Hotel Harzresidenz in December 2025. The room was clean, but unfortunately, there was some mold in the shower.
The sauna was closed, which surprised us, as there were very few guests at the hotel overall, and it wouldn't have been profitable for the hotel to have it open.
Breakfast was very good. The staff member was very attentive and friendly.
The surroundings are beautiful, as is the conservatory where breakfast is served, with its view of the garden.

The hotel looks pretty good at first glance.
But when we got to the room, there wasn't even soap in the bathroom. We had requested a baby cot, but there wasn't one.
The next day, we realized there was no housekeeping service. The rooms simply aren't cleaned daily. And it's not cheap either.
After 3 p.m., there's no one at the reception. You can't complain; there's simply no one there.
It says online that there's a restaurant, but the hotel doesn't have one in the evening.
There's breakfast, but it's rather meager.
The only really good thing was the staff – super nice people.
But many guests complain, and that's understandable.

Upon arrival, a pile of envelopes on a barrel, from which you have to find yours. In it, a paper with codes to get the key from a key box. No staff at the reception, not at all in the entire hotel. A few dusty brochures about the area. The room is not clean, dust on the towel rack, dust rags in the skylights. No fridge in the room and no bar facilities, only a do-it-yourself cupboard with a few bottles of lukewarm/warm booze at a price of a 5-star hotel. Bags of crisps with dust as thick as an inch..... The beds are worthless. You lie in such a deep hole that turning over is hardly possible.
The hotel is nothing, fortunately the area makes up for a lot!

We were very satisfied with the hotel as such, also with the staff, great food, quiet location and a new sauna. We booked two double rooms for ourselves and friends through reisenaktuell, but unfortunately we only got very small two-bed/twin rooms in the attic. According to information, the hotel was initially fully booked and the organizer only booked the small, inexpensive rooms. When asked at reisenaktuell there is only the category for their customers. But everything is okay, but you can still recommend the hotel with a clear conscience, then it's better to book at the hotel where you can choose the room categories...

We had booked the apartment/holiday apartment with two bedrooms. We didn't realize that this wasn't directly in the hotel, but 1km further away in Haus Tannengrün. When we arrived, the bed in the second bedroom was unmade. But it was done quickly after calling. The second bedroom is not directly in the apartment, but on the ground floor and you have to go through the hallway. May be difficult for families with children. This was also not apparent before booking. Checkin etc. friendly. We had no expectations of breakfast, but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything you need is there. Overall, the price/performance ratio is not that good.

It used to be a feel-good house, but since the change of ownership the trend has changed very much towards the negative. Staff who don't speak German and certainly don't understand it.
The rooms weren't cleaned at all during that time, not even the trash was thrown away! (We put it outside the door in the morning and it was still there in the afternoon!) Breakfast was no change on the fourth day, the sausage ran away from the plate.

Hotel is a bit old, hotel access...thumbs down, the surroundings ("park") are also very unkempt (well, it was only winter), but a few early bloomers in the pot bring color to the hotel garden. The food was good and plentiful, but the prices in the billing did not match the menu. The reception staff were friendly and had a lot to do and long distances. Three nights were enough for us!
