The strenght is to be found in serenity. There is enough peace in Wieda and to slow down is a stay in the hotel "Zur Schanze" perfect. With its nostalgic charm it upgrades the holiday. Spent one night here on my hike. It's a very basic hotel but clean and has everything you need. The hosts are extremely nice and helpful, the food and beer in the evening was very tasty. Everything you need for breakfast is offered and you will definitely be full. I would definitely stop here again.

Very friendly dutch couple hosting this hotel. Beautiful located and as a political/social scientist I was especially fascinated by the fact that this is just a few hundred meters from the old BRD/DDR-border. Here you can combine nature with fascinating historical sights. Very recommendable

The rooms are getting old, but are still nice and offer everything you need. A perfect hotel for motorcyclists on a holiday visit to the Harz Mountains. I would go there again on my next visit.

For the adventurous hiker the spot in Bad Sachsa. After a walk 90m up i arrived late at this hotel. Were i was welcomed by a very friendly staff. There is free wifi and the rooms are basic but very clean. Bedwise was a little bummer but i am 2m01 so a 1 person bed is not recomendable. The breakfast included was very good. This family-run guesthouse is getting a bit old, but the owners and staff are extremely friendly, the house is clean and cozy, and is very quiet on the outskirts.
