Altos de Caño Hondo Hotel

Unique “eco resort” with Dominican food and attentive staff. Water pools, hike, and tour were fun. Great place to get away. Also, a better room than the resorts I’ve been, albeit without TV or AC, which I was happy with.

Very good experience at Altos de Cano Hondo. The hotel is beautifully constructed, this is a country type hotel, encrusted in the rocks mixing a lot of wood. Service was flawless. The employees really try to make you fell confortable. Special thanks to Emily, so sweet and efficient. The room was nice, simple but clean and has all you need. The only downside for me it has no air conditioning. During night with the ventilators it worked well. It shares the same pools from Paraiso Cano Hondo. The pools are really relaxing and well maintained. Also Wilfred, the tour guide was the best. Fluent in English also, he guided us through a trekking on the park and took us to the boat expedition. Strongly recommended.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, and we had a great room with a balcony and a fabulous view. The downside was the weather! We had so much rain, and everywhere was damp and muddy.
A la carte restaurant meals were fairly good, but the dinner buffets (which we were forced to have on occasions) were not very inspiring.
We also discovered to our cost that the hotel does not have any meaningful first aid supplies.

This property is so unique and being surrounded by Los Haitises national park is gorgeous. The room was very spacious and clean with an adorable balcony and hammock to enjoy the view. We did a tour of the park by boat and hike with Wilfred and highly recommend this to make the most of your stay. All our meals were delicious! We had breakfast and dinner included and bought lunch while there as well (the location is remote, so once there you can’t just run into town for things). It was a little cool to enjoy the pools since we were there at the end of December but we loved walking around the property and checking them out. All staff were incredibly kind and helpful. My husband speaks Spanish which was definitely helpful but we could have gotten by without it if needed. We would go back again in a heartbeat! The only negatives I would note are communication with the hotel prior to arrival was difficult and without their own website it was hard to get information on what to expect prior to arrival. The road leading in, as mentioned in the reviews we saw, is a little rough but you are rewarded with the seclusion of the location.

Its a nice gateway to reboost energy.

Awesome architecture and immersive experience ! It's a blast discovering this amazing place in the forest, worth the trip ! An SUV car is recommended for the bumpy dirt road

Amazing! Great view of Bahia San Lorenzo, rooms are spacious and the breakfast is delicious. Experience to Los Haitises available. Nice staff! Free parking and WiFi. Water and coffee available all the time. The natural pool comes from a river with cold and runny water.
