It’s a shame. The hotel building and “bones” of the hotel are good, but it’s let down by staff and maintenance.

We booked a room with a double bed, but we’re not told we had been assigned a twin. We found out by going to the room, we went to reception to ask about it where we were quickly told told it’s only a preference at booking and they were fully booked - while true this was not a nice way to be treated. They never offered a. apology or tried to make it right. We also had to wait for 5 minutes to talk to someone as only one of the two members of staff were paying attention to guests.

The room itself was clean (as is the hotel in general), but there were signs everywhere of a lack of care/pride in the hotel.

The sinks would not stay full, with the plug in. The shower while clean, had not been descaled in years, meaning the shower head had 80-90% of the jets clogged, it took me about 20 minutes to fix it.
The glasses (only 2) in the room were cheap plastic ones.
The mini fridge didn’t work (lights on, but no ones cold). The basics of the room were clean, but any other surface was not (e.g top of tv, top of fridge etc).

It feels like a 4* that’s being run as a 2*.

Such a shame, this could have been a lovely stay.
