I read that some of the previous recommendations have not been that good, but for us this was a great hotel. The staff is very helpful and polite, and showed us different places to visit including a good restaurant (which we actually tried). There is a big parking garage with several spots. We knew we had to pay for the parking so we were already aware of that. 23 EUR pr day. Some will say this is expensive, but we would rather have the car parked safely than on the street and far away. The location is very good. Super close to everything. A nice park close by, and all the stores and restaurants within 7 minutes walking. Even a supermarket just on the other side of hotel for easy snacks and supplements. The staff helped us with our luggage to the room. We got an upgrade and got the room with a balcony. A really great room. We had good indoor environment, as we understood the A/C is centrally controlled, so it does work Yes, the hotel is old, but my opinion is that the staff tries to take the best care of it as possible. I also read some said they had bad shower pressure, well in our room the pressure was excellent and very strong! I would say it’s an old but antique hotel, quite unique.

Palatial lobby and unique courtyard, but complicated issues. Old world worn charm on left half of hotel; right half is almost done being refurbished as of 7/24. Complications: A/C in some older rooms not working; refurbished room door locked us inside; next room's bed was bare; next a suite but with separate beds—Ultimately, after a day, around midnight, a comfortable king suite with functioning A/C appeared (and they gave us complimentary chocolates during the quest). All this was going to give a high star rating–until as I gathered my checked bags (@2:30p 7/25), I mentioned for the benefit of others that the lobby restrooms were without soap–young Gen Z guy accepted the FYI; the other familiar guy rolled his eyes as I turned around. Left me feeling blamed and sour: the problems were real and not mine, and I was more than pleasant with everyone.

Astonishing building. Really not 5 star service or much care - staff mostly seemed self important. But some touches of kindness from Silvio(?) on reception a good person. If you stay here your air con will probably be rubbish or broken: we found ours was broken just before bedtime so had to move rooms. We asked for milk to make tea, it never came. When we reported this we got a shrug. Maybe stay somewhere people care?

First the outstanding part of this hotel - the staff. If you need any help, if you have any problem, they will solve it and go out of their way to do so. All of them. They are amazing.
Next the hotel. There is no question but Reconquista holds a special place in the hearts of every Oviedean citizen.
Witness the passionate reviews elsewhere here, including the 1 star ones, which speak to a kind of a betrayal by the Corporate Eurostars Hotels Group of a sacred place that was entrusted to them, a place that witnessed countless of the city’s weddings, confirmations, engagements, that held Royal Occasions, that boasted visiting celebrities like Nelson Mandela, Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese and the Royalty of Spain and other countries.
Eurostars are “letting it run down” according to people I spoke to (not at the hotel but elsewhere)
It’s hard to disagree. Reconquista is an Historic Institution that has been neglected and allowed to slowly deteriorate so that it resembles a kind of overpriced Nursing Home on the ground floor that sometimes feels like it has been abandoned.
The front is covered entirely in a Construction Screed that makes the lobby feel oppressive - at least it means there’s some work going on in restoration. The Bar is closed. Only Breakfast has retained its old school charm, and again that’s because of the efforts of staff. The Pandemic is well over by now but the place has a dead energy, old world yes, but not loved by those faceless Executives who don’t care, leaving the poor staff to try their best to manage this huge edifice.
The best thing to say about it really is that it should be rescued immediately by the Paradores and brought back to life in its full, historic,old school glory with the competency and artistry that only the Paradores can bring to it.

"I recently stayed at [Eurostars Hotel La Reconquista] and was extremely disappointed with my experience due to the air conditioning not working properly throughout my stay. Despite multiple attempts to adjust the thermostat, the room remained uncomfortably warm, making it difficult to sleep and relax. The lack of functioning air conditioning significantly impacted my overall comfort and enjoyment of the stay. Despite informing the staff about the issue, no satisfactory resolution was provided. For a hotel of this caliber, the inability to maintain basic amenities such as proper air conditioning is unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here until this issue is resolved." "I regret to say that my recent stay at [Eurostars hotel la Reconquista] was a complete disappointment. Despite the hefty price tag, the hotel failed to deliver on its promises of luxury and comfort. The outdated decor, complete with worn-out carpets and aging furnishings, gave the entire establishment a tired and neglected feel.It was evident that the hotel had not undergone any significant updates or renovations in quite some time, with fixtures showing signs of wear and tear. The lack of modern amenities only added to the feeling of being stuck in a bygone era.Considering the exorbitant price charged for a night's stay, one would expect a much higher standard of accommodation. We stayed in this hotel 32 years ago on our wedding night, and this was the first time back there. Right from the start, the reception we received was superb. The two staff members on the reception desk were the most polite, friendly, and helpful team I have ever seen. The room was beautiful, and when we decided to have a nightcap in the bar, the knowledge and friendliness of the lady serving made the drinks all the better. What can I say about the breakfast but amazing. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.

We (me and my husband) were really disappointed as to the service and safety. This is not what we expect from a 5* hotel and honestly have never had such a bad experience. We moved from one room to another after the fist night and left a medical device in the room which we reported immediately. We were assured (3 times) that the device would be sent back to us once found or the cost would be covered. After 2 weeks of not responding to the emails the hotel changed its mind. Very disappointing I must say. Additionally we don’t think this hotel should have a 5* rating considering many aspects. It needs introducing many changes (look, service, rooms etc)

Really great, very special hotel. We enjoyed it very much and would have liked to stay longer. Like living in a palace. Very big, nicely kept room, big and comfortable beds. Big hall with lots of sofas and seats is lovely. You can sit, enjoy a drink, eat, relax. Beautiful building. Lovely staff. Situated very near to the Corte Ingles, thwme park, coffee places. Old town can be reached on foot.

Not a 5 Star hotel! Basic services are non existent, like taking care of luggage, (porter rather interested in making an important impression), lacking bar services, mal functional park tickets, (promoted) internet check out errors, missing signage in hotel (like parking garage) etc.... rather a 3 Star hotel.... spend your money somewhere else!
