Spa area has several pools, dressing rooms have traditional saunas and there’s one mixed steam sauna in the spa area. One outdoor pool with jacuzzi feature.
Breakfast has a wide variety, but very crowded in summertime.
Rooms are retro but no complaints.
Good value for money overall.
The room is clean and comfortable.
Staff is not so friendly, charged price wrongly, and still with some attitude.
We stayed at the chalet which is a newer addition and was quite nice, but the beds and especially pillows were really poor in there as well. Even though it was supposed to have own air conditioning, the apartment stayed too hot during our stay although the weather was a regular Finnish summer and not too hot outside.
Nice activities offered, but e.g. the indoors kids play area was very smudged and unhygienic. The spa is nice with smaller kids, but quite small for bigger kids who want more action.
But, the rooms are a big letdown. They seem untouched since the hotel was built, with old furniture and beds that have lost their shape after 20 years. Despite being called "superior," the rooms are far from it and feel very outdated.
Service is another major issue. The staff is often rude and disrespectful, which seems to be a common occurrence, not just a one-time thing. This really affects the overall experience negatively.
The food at the hotel is nothing special and overpriced. I would recommend eating elsewhere for a better and more affordable meal.
In short, while the location, SPA, and recreation areas are great, the poor room quality, bad service, and subpar dining options make it hard to fully enjoy your stay at Imatran Kylpylä.
The reason I'm not granting more stars is an accumulation of details which lowered the spa hotel's quality:
- The room wasn't fully clean upon arrival, and stayed that way even after mentioning it.
- Guests receive one towel and there is no replacement policy, you need to ask in the reception and even explain why you'd want another one.
- The spa and the restaurant are on a much higher par than the rooms and other facilities, which lowers the overall quality feel when visiting.
- Swim shorts are not allowed due to hygenic reasons, but babies with diapers are allowed to enter and share water with adults.
- The spa pools are not many, but the visitors are.
It was a nice visit but I would look for another hotel next time.
