Reviews
The entrance area was pretty neat looking, with tiny shops and a game room behind that. Our room was in 3rd floor and stepping in was an instant time travel to the 80s and 90s. The room looked dated, with noticeable wear on the walls and especially in the bathroom floor. The air in the room was stale, but at least we could open a small window and the room also had blackout curtains. The beds were the absolutely worst part of the room. Extra hard and uncomfortable, plus the sheet was so tiny that it came off after rolling on the horrible bed trying to get some sleep. The bed cover under the sheet was something I really didn't want to see, with all the stains you could imagine.
The spa itself was fine, although the first thing I noticed after stepping into the dressing room was badly working locker system, that took like 5 tries to lock because the reader didn't want to read my wrist tag. The second annoyance was that all the soap dispensers I tried in the showers were empty.
There were plenty of various pools and we had fun swimming in them, the water temperature was fine and the thing entertained adults for couple of hours. There was also a pretty long water slide, but its signalling system was constantly misbehaving and people just stood there minutes waiting even when the previous person had long since cleared the slide. The pool section also showed its age in a lot places, with stuff looking worn down, rusty or broken. The absolutely worst part was the floor outside the pools, which was insanely slippery - something I had never encountered in spas before.
One amusing point was that they made us pay 7€ for a bathrobe and slippers, with some story about saving the environment. Sure, tell people not to waste, but having an extra fee for something that's standard to spas was just absurd, I was surprised we got a free towel.
The hotel had couple of restaurants, we tried the a la carte one for dinner and buffet for breakfast. The dinner was disappointing, with mediocre food that took forever to arrive and was grossly over priced for the whole experience.
The breakfast buffet again was pretty decent. Not full of local delicacies, but a well stocked hotel breakfast, which was actually better than the "fine" dining the night before.
All in all, the whole place is in need of a serious overhaul and one night was more than enough for us.
A shame, as the area itself was really pretty with nature paths and rental bikes to ride them.
Breakfast was okay in terms of spread , but most of the food items were low quality and ultra-processed. Very few fresh items available.
The spa was mostly nice (compared to other spas in Finland), but some areas do need urgent maintenance (e.g the steam saunas, which didn’t work properly). Please note that 90% of the quests are families with small children at least during summer holidays.
The area is really nice and the resort is located very close to the coast and beaches of Saimaa.
Horrible. No curtains. Hallway light was on all night and it shines brightly to the bedroom
This wonderful pool offers everything you need for a fun and carefree holiday. Whether you’re looking to unwind in the sun, enjoy a refreshing swim, or spend quality time with your kids, this place has it all. The atmosphere is welcoming, the water is crystal clear, and there’s plenty of space for both play and relaxation. A perfect spot to create unforgettable holiday memories☺️👌
In the main area of the spa (Taikametsä) there are these random events where it suddenly starts to rain or an epic music starts playing. It felt like a movie the first time it happened. The water sprinklers (rain) are sadly broken and only one of them works, but it's still a lot of simulated rain. The water was a bit cold, but maybe it was because of the cold weather or the lack of people at the spa that time.
The food was good, but disappointingly dry. Eating bacon was like eating a tree branch. The bar area was sadly closed because there were so few customers, but I don't blame the hotel.
I hope they will fix the water sprinklers, the dry food and let the game room be open for a longer time. What a night it would have been to be able to play pool after 11am.
I will revisit! If you read this, don't go to Flamingo spa in Helsinki🤮
Spa area has several pools, dressing rooms have traditional saunas and there’s one mixed steam sauna in the spa area. One outdoor pool with jacuzzi feature.
Breakfast has a wide variety, but very crowded in summertime.
Rooms are retro but no complaints.
Good value for money overall.
The room is clean and comfortable.
Staff is not so friendly, charged price wrongly, and still with some attitude.
We stayed at the chalet which is a newer addition and was quite nice, but the beds and especially pillows were really poor in there as well. Even though it was supposed to have own air conditioning, the apartment stayed too hot during our stay although the weather was a regular Finnish summer and not too hot outside.
Nice activities offered, but e.g. the indoors kids play area was very smudged and unhygienic. The spa is nice with smaller kids, but quite small for bigger kids who want more action.
