Hotel «Holiday Inn Helsinki-Vantaa Airport»

An older property with smallish rooms in need of an update. I stayed two nights will passing through Helsinki and had a very early flight. Room was clean which was most important!! Internet worked fine and they a sauna which opens at 7pm each night. Bottom line: The price was right for the value received and the location was perfect for my needs. Note: There is a great shopping mall with many restaurant options just a 10 minute walk away.

Free shuttle bus service from the airport bus stop #42 which is just 5 mins walk from the exit door of the immigration. Since its outside, you will get wet when its rainy. The bus frequency is about 15 mins. First stop from the airport is the Holiday Inn. It is really convenient.

The service is OK. Just nothing more than expected.

The room is big enough even though the hardware is bit aged.

The breakfast is good in terms of its volume and the quality.

The sauna is from 7pm and can access with your room key.

Caution: The room key is old style so you should not put it with phones or cards with other Chips. It can easily loose room key IC registration and you can never open the room again unless the reception reregister the key at the front desk.

We have stayed here several times traveling in and out of Finland both for work trips and as a family. It is a bit of a dated hotel, but still run fairly well. The free shuttle and breakfast make it a good value still.

However, a few things that were between surprising and shocking, that make us concerned enough to think twice about choosing IHG Holiday Inn again:

Overall we had a pleasant experience, but a few things:
- Drain smell in room toilet.
This is something we have noticed before and mentioned before.

- Vomit mess near elevators - it was dry, so obviously it had been there through the night.  It seems a wise management practice to walk the main lobby spaces and check them each morning!

- The coffee machine in the lobby had been replaced with a microwave.  That felt both strange and a downgrade in service that was disappointing.

- The gluten free bread at breakfast was moldy - the staff quickly replaced it when it was pointed out.

Overall the staff were pleasant and obviously professional, although the restaurant staff seemed to be on the edge of being overwhelmed.

Convenient hotel, close to the airport, for this brave enough, very near the Aviapolis train station, take it to Helsinki. Perfect for a day out exploring the city.

Disappointing though, coffee and creamer not replenished regularly. I guess they cannot manage long staying guest but better with one night transits and crew.
Although comfy, i am a little disappointed.
