BW Premier Collection Le Saint Antoine Hotel et Spa

Frustration; the sounds of the street carry into the rooms on the upper floor, there is no soundproofing. The gym is a joke; no weights, the only equipment is broken, the treadmill is installed at an upward angle, it is hot (sauna behind the wall) and dark; you couldn't turn on the fan or the treadmill without the cell phone light. The gym was the main reason why we booked the rooms for a week at this hotel and it was a big disappointment! On New Year's Eve, we inquired what time breakfast would be served on New Year's Day. We were told that normally until 10 o'clock. We set the alarm and went to breakfast at 9:30. Only there at the door did we hear that brunch is available until 1 pm and costs 40e. We would have come later and enjoyed the brunch much more if we had known in advance. In addition, we received bad service from the SPA reception and they tried to offer us rooms with a very strong smell of smoke from the courtyard side on the 2nd and 3rd floor, which we refused. I can't recomment this hotel, The price-quality ratio and star rating are not right in this hotel, really!

We arrived last night with uneventful check in to room 402. We unpacked and prepared for our anniversary dinner, and attempted to shower. The shower never warmed. There were five hangers in the room and no shower cap. After VERY quick showers we went to the desk to enquirer about the cold showers and were told “Oh Yes. Sorry. My colleague is working on that”. When asked about the shower cap we were told “We haven’t had such amenities since the change in management”. When asked for more hangers we were asked “ why do you need so many?”

When we returned from dinner we were told that the hot water was working. “Yes. my colleague fixed it. He was standing in (here comes a gesture like a “the fish was this big”) this much water.” I guess we were either supposed to be impressed with the heroism that it didn’t end like in the movie “Titanic”, or the skill with which the repair was made.

We turned in for the night and arose a little after 7 am to a completely dark hotel. No lights in the room or hallway. No alarms sounded. The phone system was non functional. We rapidly gathered our documents and medicines and exited the room.

By this time emergency lights had turned on. Thankfully there was no smell of smoke in either the hallway or stairwell. We used our headlamps to descend 5 floors to the lobby and found two jovial staff hanging out in the lobby.

“The Power is Out”
“I know. I’ve called my colleague. Don’t worry. Everything is fine.”
“The phones don’t work”. A shrug was returned.
“Have you checked the basement for smoke? “. Another shrug.

We exited the building quickly.

Upon our return at 5 pm I asked to speak with the manager. I was told that Mdm B would be in Thursday (It’s Tuesday…). I was told that there was no manager available to speak to.

How does a Four Star Hotel get by without management in place? Evidently this well. At this point I do hope someone from Best Western monitors these reviews and will take action to put some adult supervision in place and provide some assurance of basic safety… along the lines of do the fire alarms work? How does one call outward in an emergency? And where are the shower caps?

I wanted to book a room in this hotel as they announce themselves as luxury. I had a question about parking rates. Called, after minutes of waiting, I got disconnected without answer. I tried the chat multiple times and days, no answer ever. I tried the form on their website. Same. Such rates and such level you expect better communication channels
