We had a big group of 10 and really enjoyed our stay. Very nice reception staff, well equipped kitchen, new and clean rooms, sufficient space and nice ski out facility. Also very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend for big groups.

Stay 17-26 Feb, 2012. Familiy of 6 (kids aged 10 - 15) 3900 eur for appartment, sleeping 8-10; in principle Frequent alpine sport travelers Good points: - Great (just off-center) quiet and beautiful location, on the ski slope "Santons" coming into Val D'isere centre - Great views - Nice terrace - Overall space decent for 6 people. Cramped for 10. Bad points: - Completely overpriced. We have been in much nicer locations at much lower prices, for instance in the CGH group, - Small living room, - Even smaller "kitchen", completely un-ergonomic, - 3 rooms without exterior facing windows, but yielding into a sort of open corridor, - One of the rooms completely without windows, but with the entrance door yielding immediately in this room. You enter and boom, you're in a room with bunk beds, - 2nd floor location, without lift, only stairs. Not an issue, but this suck somewhat on the last day, when you're tired and you have run up and down with the luggage, - Ski box in the cellar smelled, strongly, of cheese, the whole week long. And still probably does now, - First night we were cold, in the living room, - Ran out of hot water one night. In short: avoid.

It is actually Les Chalets du Jardin Alpin II (it's across the street from the original, which is a residential block).
Nice enough but minor details saw it drop stars. Rooms are dated, lack of usb charging points was felt.
A back door without working mag-locks, small board / ski stash cupboards (couldn't fit even half the gear in).
Pillow selection wasn't great.
Several in our group struggled with the beds, said they were firm. I'm quite heavy and slept well.

After a long drive to get there the person meeting us was late getting to us, though coming from in resort.

4 star apartment according to the listing. Reality: 5- star price 3- star apartment - especially kitchen is very marginal equipped. 2- star service When asked for clean towels after 4 days into a weeks stay, their answer was: this isn't a hotel. You can imagine that if you ski all day and take a shower afterwards, clean towels after 4 days isn't too much of luxury. 1- star client handling. Taking off your bed linen your self is more something for a student apartment, not for a € 5k weekly rate. The apartment is ok, some of the staff is friendly, some of the staff has this old school French attitude.... Summarizing: it was a one time booking. We'll be back for Val d'Isere but we will look for a different accommodation.

in summary + Well appointed, ski out apartments + the apartments are ski-out (5 mins from the main lifts). They are not ski-in, but only a 5 minute walk down from the slopes + helpful reception (you can order baguettes for the morning) - it takes around 20 minutes to get to the centre of the resort by bus (take the blue bus, then change to the red bus), and longer to walk. The bus stop is a 2 minute walk away - there are no shops or bars nearby, the nearest convenience store is a Spar, which is at 20 minutes away on the bus (not ideal for self-catering) - the apartments are tiny, which is quite normal in French apartments. Our apartment would in theory accommodate 8 people, in practice it is suitable for no more than 6. - there was a terrible problem with the drains in our apartment (in the shower room), the smell was really appalling and they were not able to get a plumber while we were there over new year.

These chalets are in a perfect location. Ski in/out easy access to the centre via road, slope or bus. The views are glorious and the apartments are well equipped and clean
The only downside is lack of soundproofing which means scraping chairs and lots of noise transfer. If this would bother you ask for top floor.

Went skiing there with the family and it was great, nice ski in ski out on a blue. Just a pain when walking as bus stopped was down a hill.

The Apartments are a little way out of town, about a 10 minute walk in and a 12-15 minute walk back, but there is a good free bus service that runs every 15 minutes from which you can walk the last 2-300m into town or catch another bus into the centre. To ski into town is a doddle if the snow is good as the piste to town runs right below Chalet no.1, but the run back needs plenty of good snow to be open, it wasn't for the 2 weeks we were there in late December.
The apartments are not as large as the photos suggest, but they are well equipped with kitchen appliances (even if there is precious little room to prepare any food), with plenty of crockery, pans and cutlery. The beds are supremely comfortable, there is endless hot water and decent showers, and the apartment temperature can be fairly easily controlled. So a bit cramped and of course horrible Val d'Isere prices but comfortable by French standards. The boot room is clean and adequate if again cramped with just one bench. The sauna spa requires swimming trunks beware, you cannot expect to use it with just a towel as in most parts of the alps. More to the point there is a horrible smell like drains from around the spa area during the day time, we never understood where it was coming from and were glad our apartment was higher up.
The apartments are noisy, especially from outside with delivery vans and skidoos starting at 7.30am and revellers returning from town into the small hours, but that's probably rot be expected for a party town like Val.
The front desk staff are unbelievably polite, helpful and efficient. Marine and her colleague could not be more responsive or professional, nothing is too much trouble and every request is met with a smile. They are the standout stars at Les Chalet du Jardin Alpin, without a doubt.
