Reviews
You will need a car to go anywhere from the hotel.
They don't have shuffle to the airport but will call you a taxi even in the middle of the night.
The workers were very polite and helpfull each time.
This is a small hotel and expectations should be inline with that. I understand some people may be disappointed if they expected a 5 star resort type of services and facilities. Overall we found the hotel to be a good value.
Rooms: Yes, they are outdated and fairly simple but they are kept clean. Our room had an incredible sea view and a balcony in the building between the main building and beach.
Food: I’ve found buffet food served on all inclusive to be delicious. Usually 2-3 selection of mains to choose from.
Drinks: All inclusive drinks are a bit limited (beer, gin, tequila, rum and ouzo). All inclusive cocktails are only served between 20-23 pm and its their choice of cocktail on that day.
Beach: Not really a beach so to say, more like platforms over the rocks with stairs into see. As other comments mentioned people with low mobility or small children may have trouble. Clear water, a bit on the colder side but this is subjective as I like really warm sea normally. Lots of fish if you like snorkeling. No loud music, very calm and relaxed environment. We have taken the free shuttle to the nearby pebble beach but preferred hotel’s calm platforms.
Overall the hotel has a very relaxed vibe, party goers may be bored but we really enjoyed this atmosphere.
The clientele hotel attracts also contribute to the relaxed environment. No loud/drunk tourists. Most people are cheerful and respectful to each other. There are young couples, groups of friends, families and pensioners. All seem to be getting along well.
Staff has also been great. Leandras on the beach bar has been great as well as the ladies at the pool bar. Kitchen staff are also amazing and cheerful. Same goes for the cleaning staff who have done a great job.
They were also kind enough to let us store our luggage and use facilities on the day of our checkout as we had a late evening flight.
We had a child with us, so nap time from noon to 2. Our room got cleaned 2 times in one week because we got skipped nearly everyday despite telling everyone at reception or the cleaning lady.
House wine in all inkl is a wine that is self produced by the family. Sounds great, tastes horrible. I doubt they could sell it in a supermarket, but good enough for all-inkl guests. Cocktails, most of the time, are just badly pre-made sugary beverages. And see the pictures, they are horribly expensive if you buy drinks there.
Without a car you are pretty much jailed there, there are three times a day a shuttle to the nearby beach (pack shoes, its a stone beach) but that's it. So definitely get a rental if you plan on staying there.
Rooms are tiny, full of bugs and run down furniture, youth hostel style.
You get what you pay for, but for 15% more you would get so much more. This definitely was the worst Corfu experience ever. Stay away. The cost/value ratio is not good here.
Breakfast was fairly mediocre but supper was really good.
Aircon was €6 per night in the room and even though the website says there is a ceiling fan there is not. (hence why i removed a star)
the platform into the sea was great though the sea could be a bit choppy as it wasn't protected by a bay but it was private and there was a shower down by the sun loungers as well as the bar
The beach shuttle was great leaving at 9:30, 14:30 and 17:30 from the hotel though you had to pay for sun loungers there and it was a lot more busy. there were also showers there. sunloungers on Barbati beach ranged from €10 to €35 depending on how nice they were etc.
The pool and sea are not protected but there was a small playground in terms of it being kid friendly.
There are many steps to the sea swimming area so be aware if sea swimming is your preference.
We had a car which is a must otherwise the immediate area is extremely limiting and roads are dangerous for walking.
The food is just OK with a reasonable variety. Often just warm where it should be hot. We were half board basis but changed immediately to all-in. Drinks, coffees, beers, wines, spirits can be very expensive. This prompted our upgrade to all-in. With this option all drinks are free. It really works out to be significantly cheaper.
The reception staff, female bar staff, restaurant staff, cleaners, ground workers are all very nice, friendly and helpful. The two male bar staff are ignorant & unfriendly. Its almost like they don't want to be there. They will turn away from you rather than serve. Particularly the smaller of the two who serves at the beach bar most of the time. He just wants to look at his phone and continues to ignore even when eye contact is made. You have to be firm with him.
We had French and German friends that we met up with. They had no problems with the bar staff and could not believe how we were treated. They even stood with us at the bar on several occasions to verify our treatment. Perhaps a dislike of the English??
Best:- the beach terraces area where decked areas are built into the cliff, giving beautiful views and private access to a perfect sea.
Worst:- Male bar staff. Repetitive elevator music. Just warm food.
We were half board and the food was really good with a decent variety of meats and fish. The staff were so lovely and helpful, the rooms were very clean and sweet.
There is a little walk down to a platform by the sea which is amazing. Could easily paddleboard to the next beach along!
Definitely worth a stay couldn’t recommend more!
