Hotel Acropolis

While it has clearly has a dated “Fawlty Towers” of Kavala feel the, frankly, slightly grumpy old lady who
runs it, Madame Athena, will open up with some charm to you once you do! The street side rooms are pretty noisy and basic, but room No. 15. which has a harbour views and balcony is spectacular. Rather like the proprietress herself there a “faded grandeur” to the establishment which suits well the ambience. If you are tired of modern hotels then this is a quite acceptable and interesting alternative - with crisp cotton sheets and antique furnishings and styling. Just remember to be nice to the old Kyria and all will be well! Old fashioned establishment, old fashioned manners and, of course, credit cards are not accepted! :)

It's an old hotel at the city center. The host is so nice. It has a wonderful view. It's an old hotel but the sheets and towels are perfectly clean.

Surprised to read all the reviews in here, so I'll try to give a complete one for any person who'd be interested in coming to this hotel.

Location-wise, you can't do better, really. The hotel is 4 minutes away from the port by walk, in the core city center, and coast-facing. (The port with ferries is 4 mins away, but Epicure, and the sea, are 30 seconds away, just leave the hotel, walk around the block, and you're facing the boats and sea)

Service-wise, indeed, the host is an old lady with, I believe, several health issues. She's kind and nice, yet the first impression may seem a little tough. Gotta break the shell, and you're good. She speaks correct English, and isn't disrespectful or anything, maybe just less welcoming than the topical Greek. Nothing too shocking for a Bulgarian like me.

Regarding the rooms, they are old-fashioned. The lock feels like a solid kick would break open the door, and several switches are plain useless (6 switches for 4 lamps?). That said, the beds are comfortable, the wifi works perfectly, even for a business need. The bathroom is okay, clean, but once again, old-fashioned. There's burning hot water in the shower, and soap + shampoo are provided.

I think there's no cleaning lady so, do it yourself I guess lol. Fits a short stay.

All in all, I think the prices should be lowered because other alternatives exist around, with similar prices yet much better overall package

Excellent location and very good value for single room. I checked in last minute. This is one of the first hotel in Kavala that has been running since 1935. It has old historical charm and owner lady is one who will check you in and clean your room.
Very basic wooden antique furniture, bit dated. Bed was large and comfortable with very soft and fresh smelling sheets. My room had shared shower/WC. Strong wifi connection with gorgeous views of castle and marina. Has elevator.
FYI -entrance location is opposed of view from marina(as shown on photo here)

Although the reviews on Google are not very good I am very positive about the hotel. Certainly since the prices are quite low. Indeed the furniture is quite old (50's style) but of good quality. Personally I think the room is nice decorated The staff is friendly and the rooms clean. Though we had some difficulties with the button for the toilet flush(hard to press) and the doorstep from the room to the bathroom is quite high.
Overall the hotel is what you pay for and maybe even better

The hotel is in the very centre of Kavala. It is opsite the cinema, where are the most of nightlife clubs, also is 10 minute walk from the amusment park.
Very close to the taverns district as well as to the aquaduct and the old city district. The name of the owner is mrs Athen - the Godes of the Acropolis temple. She is very kind person and very hostile, I always feel welcome there. If you want cheap cozy place, Acropolis is for you.
