I travel a lot, and depending on availability, I stay at different levels of hotels. I can honestly say that this is my favorite hotel experience. The room, bathroom, and location were completely fine and the price was great, but it really was the kindness, openness, and humor of the owner and staff. And it was genuine. I was in Bordighera for a music competition (I am a conductor), which can be a strange experience. But all of the people at the hotel, even the woman who cleaned the room, were welcoming and open. They had a lovely upright piano (which was in tune!) right next to the reception - and they were fine with letting me play quietly when I needed to. I can't imagine going to another hotel if I come to Bordighera. Thank you, Gold Hotel.

We’ve entered the hotel ad-hoc without prior booking. Wow, what a mistake.
Check-in was OK we were shown to a stinky room and told it’s the last one. Well beggars can’t be choosers, our mistake was waiting until the last moment to find a hotel. What wasn’t our mistake was that, aside of the smell, the bathroom turned out to be health hazard with stinky pipes, mould on the walls and sealing, and hair from the previous occupant boldly sitting on top in the shower. Disgusting. There was nobody there to complain at night so we waited until morning. Owner started screaming after we complained, literally screamed. Heh.. I’ve seen some character issues before but to telling us that checking the state of the bathroom prior to taking the room was our responsibility is plain crazy. Even last minute it’s better to sleep in the car than this hotel. Avoid at all cost. PS. We were charged 19€ per night for parking…

An excellent hotel well located with great service and impeccable cleanliness. Great breakfast free parking replaced water bottles everyday. But the best thing about the Gold Hotel is its owner and operator Nicola. He is one of the most kind, honest and hard working hotel owner I have ever known. he is there at all times with great information of the best places to visit to eat and to avoid. He is also the morning cook for your special order of eggs. He makes sure that you are happy and that you get everything you need. He even sings if egged on. Truly an amazing week for myself my wife and our 2 friends.I will be definitely returning. Thirty minutes away hour away from Monaco and Sanremo 50 minutes away from Nice and 95 minutes away from Cannes we were able to visit them all and still spend 3 full days on the great beaches of the Italian Riviera just minutes away.

Conveniently located hotel with Relaxing garden. Very clean recently updated rooms with very comfortable beds. Hot breakfast with eggs and meat, etc. Pleasant and helpful staff. We will return.

Terrible experience
Let's start with the mockery of Mr. Nicola who on arrival told us that we had to settle the bill immediately and that this was written in the confirmation email, but rereading the email several times there was none of this , which has never happened in other hotels.
Rooms with poor cleanliness, dirty curtains, sheets full of dust, paper towels instead of toilet paper, in general a dated and not at all clean rooms not to mention the poor and very low quality breakfast and poor cleaning even in the room, which by the way it is not a dining room because the dining room and reception are together.
Lunch and dinner with always the same things on the menu and very poor quality food.
Finally, it is the first time that after 9.30 pm in a hotel you no longer find anyone, not even the night watchman.

Upon arrival, the welcome is very warm, the hotel is very well located, very clean, spacious room. Full and quality breakfast. We will gladly come back. A little advice: young people in training should be as smiling as the receptionist 😉
