Sant'Angelo Luxury Resort

This is a beautiful hotel! Service was excellent. We dined both evenings in the hotel restaurant, which has a terrace with absolutely stunning views. The dinner both nights was divine…Michelin star quality. The service at the restaurant was amazing as well…we watched the talented maitre d’ handle some difficult customer situations with grace and aplomb, very impressive. A must-visit if you are in Matera!

Probably the best located hotel in the Sassi neighborhood, with an incredible view. Our room was in the Palazzo and we absolutely loved it

On our recent stay, I have Pros and Cons about my stay. The Location was very nice, with beautiful views of the Rock church, in the square, But there is a whole other area above that has the Main Church, Doumo, so the stairs are unavoidable. Our room was very large, with a balcony that looked over the Rock Church . But the air conditioning was not working properly so the room never really got cooled off to my liking. The staff when asked for recommendation for a Restaurant that served a certain reginal dish , just gave us a list of restaurants in the area. SO that wa a disappointment for sure. The breakfast in the morning was good, but just continental, Eggs and pancakes were at an extra charge. The hotel is kept well, but they really need to fix the air conditioning in the room we stayed in.

This hotel is surely the very best in Matera. Wonderful rooms, especially superior cave suite where we have stayed (for three days). The services were most kind and professional. There is excellent restaurant. Location of the hotel colud hardly be better. Beautiful views from the large terrace. I highly recommend this luxury hotel.

Sant’Angelo was a wonderful experience! The room was spectacular, with a breathtaking view onto the prehistoric site across the canyon. The staff is super kind and welcoming, and the restaurant, which offers gourmet interpretations of traditional « Basilicata » dishes, is delicious.

We enjoyed The Tower for our honeymoon! The views were unbelievable as was the horizontal shower/spa. Staying here was absolutely one of the highlights of the trip - worth the splurge for sure. Also nice that they sent us messages on WhatsApp and were available through WhatsApp at any time!

From the moment we arrived at this stunning 5-star hotel in Matera, we felt that we are somewhere special. My Fiancé and I just got engaged, and we knew that this hotel will offer not only luxurious comfort but also a truly authentic Italian experience, during such a special time for us. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help. They took extra care of us seeing me being 7 months pregnant. We got the room with privet balcony, overlooking the stunning view over hills and old town center. Spacious, elegant and beautiful in its simplicity, reflected the hotel’s commitment to excellence. One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was meeting the owner, Biagio. A true gentleman who embodies the spirit of hospitality. Passion for His hotel and for making us feel special, was evident in every detail—from the way he greeted us, to the way He personally make sure we were perfectly look after. Biagio’s presence gave the hotel a soul; he didn’t just run a luxury establishment—he created a home away from home. It’s rare to meet someone so genuinely devoted to make sure that His Guests and their comfort come first. He left lasting impression on us… This hotel truly exceeded our expectations in every way. Sant’Angelo is an incredible hotel located in the heart of Sassi. We enjoyed a lot our stay from our panoramic room! As they said “cross and delight of the Sassi are the stairs” but it worth it! We tasted also their Pizzeria Più Sud, the pizza is one of the best ever eaten! Thank you to staff for the service, see you soon!

The location of the hotel is just next to the James Bond movie scene and facing the valley. The room is spacious and with excellent amenities. Staff are responsive and extremely helpful
