Modern hotel. But without **** treatment. The staff had the cordiality and friendliness of the barracks from ex communist states. We really didn't feel welcome... No smile or friendly word at breakfast. We were here in autumn so the outdoor pool was closed. We had to pay 30 euros for the indoor pool and wellness (90 min), which we didn't. The first time we experienced this. NOT RECOMMENDED if you want...
We took 17 of our customers on a Southern Italy trip. We stayed in four hotels through out our trip, this was our least favorite. Here are dome of the reasons why: -Place looked a little disheveled. We believe the building and grounds were under construction and the hotel did the best they could to hide it. -The bar tender our first night had a limited menu on the drinks he could create. He told...
Usual hotel for simple stay. Nice pool, but not very friendly personell. No signs about pools and no one to explain the rules. Good brakfast.
Facilities were great, but a bit of a palaver to access the garden. Once there, fabulous. Swimming you have to pay towels and a swimming cap! On arrival the bar area was commandered by a baptism party and ended with a loud disco!! Breakfast choice was abundant, but the coffees ended up being lukewarm by the time you got to your table. The rooms were really well equipped
5 star for the service of bar and swimming pool. The personal specifically in the bar Resturant was super kind and gentle. Great for short vacation close to sassi of Matera .
Good modern hotel with very good food and terrific breakfast.Rooms modern and clean, bed slightly on small size.Only issue is having the bar in the restaurant with very few informal sitting areas to have a drink and chat. Not possible to walk into centre.

Good place to stay for work and pleasure. Good restaurant, gentle and professional personnel, nice location. Inside it looks like any other modern hotel, but outside it is unique. Walking for 1km you can reach the top of the famous and ancient Sassi di Matera, amasing...
Great, very friendly and cooperative staff!
Seems nice, quite modern and good looking
Can’t say enough about the town of Matera, it’s beautiful, clean and the history is amazing! Our Hotel the Nazionale was fantastic! Just a short 15 minute walk to the centre square and the Sassi village. The Nazionale is new, modern and the staff are great. Ferdinando and Simone were our waiters for breakfast and dinner. The 2 young men were great to talk with, excellent ambassadors for the hotel!...

A special experience! This is an INCREDIBLE hotel...from the initial communication, arranging our ground transportation, being met by Jennifer and given a history of Matera to the stunningly beautiful cave we slept in, this was a perfect place. The breakfast was beautiful and delicious. The setting of Matera is stunning. My only regret is that we only had one night there. I am already trying to plan...
I wish that I could give 10 stars to Sextantio! The property is stunning, the town is wonderful, the views are breathtaking, and the staff is incredible. If you are visiting Italy, Matera is a must. It is a completely unique ancient city with a history that shows the adaptability of human kind. Take part by staying at Sextantio.
Everything was outstanding - property, condition, staff, food, response to questions and follow-up communication. We strongly recommend this - certainly worth every cent. The parking in town with the shuttle is expensive but there is no other easy way to do it.
I like it very much. The service is good and enthusiastic. However, this kind of characteristic hotel feels that it is enough to stay for one night to experience it.
We had the most amazing time celebrating love ! Truly magical experience, the service is impeccable and the location couldn’t be more breathetaking. Thank you so much
What an amazing place! Fantastic that the history of the area including the building has been so beautifully preserved. Congratulations to those responsible. A must stay on your travels to Matera!

Beautiful hotel, great modern interior style, the room was impeccable and very clean. The bed so so comfortable .with a wonderful breakfast The staff were so professional and courteous, and friendly so welcoming.. and really very knowledgeable about the town and the best restaurants etc. Great location right in the heart of town and minutes walking distance to everywhere . And helped us get reservations...
Excellent hotel. Stylish interiors in a renovated old building. Every detail high quality. Central location. Plentiful breakfast. Staff always friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended.
Lovely hotel, great service and delicious breakfast. Beautiful room. The location is formidable too. A great stay well worth it!
Perfect location, beautiful hotel with stylisch interiors, very helpful crew. Stay there and enjoy matera as its best!

The location is great and the facilities are clean and great. The only downside was that the heater was broken, making it difficult to sleep.
Splendid hotel, in the center of Matera, Francesca at the reception was helpful and competent. The room was wonderful with a gorgeous bathroom! I highly recommend it.
+ Very good location, spacious room, modern and comfortable but nevertheless remains very typical of the Sassi (do not expect the room to be very bright). Very pleasant bathroom and rather decent bedding. - The curtains do not allow you to achieve complete blackness. We stayed in room 201 which overlooks the street, which can be a little noisy with the traffic.
We stopped for one night...we were very satisfied, modern, clean, very characteristic hotel, very friendly staff...simple but complete breakfast. Excellent location located in the center between the two stones with the splendid Via del Corso full of shops and cafés... worth returning.
Located in the center of Matera but at the same time quiet. Very kind, affable, friendly staff. International breakfast. Mrs. Loredana is friendly and competent, like the rest of the staff.
Central and comfortable, in the center between the two Sassi and in the heart of the pedestrian area, therefore ideal for fully enjoying the city. Clean, well furnished rooms, the staff is attentive and very kind. Absolutely recommended place for those who want to visit the city

Matera is beautiful & I loved my time there but the room allocated was not. It was very spacious but had no downstairs windows, only the tiny mezzanine floor above did. The aircon was set at 26 degrees which was complained about twice & nothing done. I have also never stayed anywhere and had to complain about no cold water in the shower or bathroom taps. The shower cabinet was held together with a...
Stayed in this fascinating hotel in Matera for 3 nights. Our room was in one of the old cisterns carved out of the limestone. While not luxurious, the unique aspect of being in a cave more than made up for any lack of facilities. Matera itself was astonishing - truly exceptional place to visit. Great local restaurants, too, all full of character.
It was quite an experience staying in a cave hotel! It's not easy to retrofit facilities in a cave so don't expect luxurious bathrooms or decor. The rooms are scattered somewhat and there are lots of steps, like much of Matera so don't stay here if you have mobility issues. Having said that the rooms were adequate for our needs and the breakfast was nice if a bit busy at peak times. Overall we really...
The views from anywhere in Matera are beautiful, but the rooms and terrace at Hotel Sassi are breathtaking. The hotel is very well located near the main squares. Many good restaurants are nearby. the sun terrace was most enjoyable. Overall excellent.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Belvedere Hotel in Matera, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! Although it’s listed as a three-star hotel, it truly bats well above its weight, offering one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had. We booked for a room “in grotta”. The room was nice and comfortable (regardless the stairs). The location is truly unique. There is a wide space just in front of it to park and offload bags and check in. Than there is a parking at less than 2 minutes walking on the same street (10€ per day). The view is truly breathtaking and the terrace where they serve breakfast and aperitivo truly gives a unique...
Absolutely loved Il Belvedere it was one of our favourite little hotels on our 4 month trip. Rooms are so clean spacious and nice and the staff absolutely amazing and so service orientated. Breakfast was beautiful also. Position perfect within walking distance to everywhere and the view over the Sassi breathtaking. Would absolutely 100% recommend staying here and parking across the street! 😊
Staff was great, specially Davide! He helped with great tips for what to see and where to go. Very friendly, professional, and smiling person! Excellent location, beautiful views, delicious breakfast and well maintained rooms. New towels and sheets every single day. Highly recommend it!
We got this address from friends of friends. The best recommendation we could have asked for. Best authentic place with the best breakfast and view to enjoy. We had a fantastic time, walked a lot with lots of steps. If you have a chance take Belvedere Matera...

Came at the hotel end of September 2019 for three nights. We could not have been more pleased with the place, the staff was very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was great and location perfect. We recommend it wholeheartedly.
Cute place to stay. Got a big room with a view of the valley. Beautiful sunrise. Only worry about ventilation though.
What an incredible place! Hard to find and don’t drive your car here. We called them and the driver picked us up before we came to the area. It was awesome and we’ll worth the stop. 2 days is all you need and plan to take a tour to get a better understanding of the dark history of the place.
Just perfect. The location, the place and mostly the people. Staying there made our stay in Matera even better. Hopefully, we will be back. Thank you again for everything.

Clean, quite hotel, Great breakfast too. Location is great only a few meters from the main square. Good parking facilties too. Friendly staff
Wonderful staff, fabulous location. Good breakfast. Rooms need updating and desperately needs maintenance.
Good storage for our bicycles, helpful staff, extravagant breakfast with great coffee, location very close to the old town but out of the mayhem and convenient for access to shops and services.
Perfect location for a visit in Matera. Underground parking with elevator so easy to load and unload luggage. Lovely breakfast, very friendly staff and very clean and comfortable rooms. The hotel is modern and a 1 minute walk from the main square - we appreciated the proximity and easy access especially given the 40C heat. Highly recommend.
Excellent hotel structure in the center, close to Piazza Vittorio Veneto, from whose terraces you can admire the picturesque panorama of the Sassi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Professional, kind and trained staff.

A beautiful hotel just behind the dom of the city. It was a convent of nuns, years ago: on coming here you have to bear it in mind, because you will find no 5star-hotel comfort. If you are ok with that, you will have a really awesome experience here!
Super nice place, beautiful architecture and professional services, our rooms were for 16 people but it was big enough, zero complains
I'm sure you've never seen a hostel this beautiful! The 15-person room has a hige terrace with a great view!

This is a beautiful hotel! Service was excellent. We dined both evenings in the hotel restaurant, which has a terrace with absolutely stunning views. The dinner both nights was divine…Michelin star quality. The service at the restaurant was amazing as well…we watched the talented maitre d’ handle some difficult customer situations with grace and aplomb, very impressive. A must-visit if you are in Matera
Very friendly staff, great breakfast
Probably the best located hotel in the Sassi neighborhood, with an incredible view. Our room was in the Palazzo and we absolutely loved it
On our recent stay, I have Pros and Cons about my stay. The Location was very nice, with beautiful views of the Rock church, in the square, But there is a whole other area above that has the Main Church, Doumo, so the stairs are unavoidable. Our room was very large, with a balcony that looked over the Rock Church . But the air conditioning was not working properly so the room never really got cooled...
This hotel is surely the very best in Matera. Wonderful rooms, especially superior cave suite where we have stayed (for three days). The services were most kind and professional. There is excellent restaurant. Location of the hotel colud hardly be better. Beautiful views from the large terrace. I highly recommend this luxury hotel.
Sant’Angelo was a wonderful experience! The room was spectacular, with a breathtaking view onto the prehistoric site across the canyon. The staff is super kind and welcoming, and the restaurant, which offers gourmet interpretations of traditional « Basilicata » dishes, is delicious.

The house is amazing! The location is perfect, away from the main tourist path. The owners told the story of the house, it was very interesting. The only thing that disappointed was the breakfast, or rather the lack of it. 2 store-bought croissants and milk with muesli. Amazing room and located right within sassi!! The hot springs is must also!
Very good, convenient transportation, large room and good facilities
The place was perfect: central, close to nice restaurants and bars, well decorated, nice staff, great SPA (worth the 25 EUR fee to access it!) and what a great breakfast buffet! Do choose the suites, they really are worth the extra price. They were all booked for our second night and so we had to move to a standard room and it wasn’t as great.
Awesome place, right in the heart of the old town, very nice room and great to wake up having a beautiful view of the town in the morning. Very quite place, clean, helpful staff and fantastic the SPA, it’s definitely worth it a visit. I will be back there and I strongly suggest it.

Located in the heart of Matera, which means you can’t get there by car, but the views and the room made up for the challenge of getting to it. Everyone was very professional. The room was large, clean and suited our needs. It felt like we were staying in someone’s mansion.
The building and the location are stunning, so as the rooms some of which have a panoramic view over the Sassi. Very nice and friendly staff and a very good level of service overall. The hotel has its own parking which is a huge plus as you can forget your car for the duration of your stay here.
Very good choice in Matera - great location, beautiful surroundings, outstanding view from the terrace, possibility to park a car at the courtyard and very professional & kind staff.
The hotel is not only a magnificent building of the 16th century, but also located at a strategic point in the city. It's in the highest part. More beautiful than I thought. Great location, next to the Duomo. The view from the terrace is amazing; you can also have an aperitif. Unforgettable experience. Very quiet and immaculate room. Friendly staff. Like a palace with its gigantic halls. It feels like you live in a castle.
