Usual hotel for simple stay. Nice pool, but not very friendly personell. No signs about pools and no one to explain the rules. Good brakfast.

Facilities were great, but a bit of a palaver to access the garden. Once there, fabulous. Swimming you have to pay towels and a swimming cap! Matera is beautiful & I loved my time there but the room allocated was not. It was very spacious but had no downstairs windows, only the tiny mezzanine floor above did. Stayed in this fascinating hotel in Matera for 3 nights. Our room was in one of the old cisterns carved out of the limestone. While not luxurious, the unique aspect of being in a cave more than made up for any lack of facilities. Matera itself was astonishing - truly exceptional place to visit. Great local restaurants, too, all full of character.

It was quite an experience staying in a cave hotel! It's not easy to retrofit facilities in a cave so don't expect luxurious bathrooms or decor. Nice hotel, staff very very friendly and helpful! Applause for the guy bringing up all our luggage! The view is gorgeous and the hotel is perfectly located. The breakfast is not much but tasted ok. Don’t think you should ask more money for dishes which can be ordered. Just include everything. Room was fascinating. Location was great. We have mobility issues so they arranged a tour of Matera for us in an Apecar (Tuktuk) The service was either great (picking us up at the garage) to poor (not answering the phone at check-out time, telling me after I carried my own luggage 500 feet down 20 rough stone steps that there was another desk to call, not telling us we'd have to climb 50 of stone steps...

Stayed just two days here, the views are amazing!! Matera is beautiful. The A/C was poor at best, the shower very small. Could not get a table at the restaurant, unfortunately. Breakfast was great.

This is a beautiful hotel! Service was excellent. We dined both evenings in the hotel restaurant, which has a terrace with absolutely stunning views. The dinner both nights was divine…Michelin star quality. The service at the restaurant was amazing as well…we watched the talented maitre d’ handle some difficult customer situations with grace and aplomb, very impressive. I wish that I could give 10 stars to Sextantio! The property is stunning, the town is wonderful, the views are breathtaking, and the staff is incredible. If you are visiting Italy, Matera is a must. It is a completely unique ancient city with a history that shows the adaptability of human kind. Take part by staying at Sextantio.

Everything was outstanding - property, condition, staff, food, response to questions and follow-up communication. We strongly recommend this - certainly worth every cent. The parking in town with the shuttle is expensive but there is no other easy way to do it.

I like it very much. The service is good and enthusiastic. However, this kind of characteristic hotel feels that it is enough to stay for one night to experience it.

Modern hotel in an historical city, placed a few steps from the main square and very close to Sassi.

The location is great and the facilities are clean and great. The only downside was that the heater was broken, making it difficult to sleep.

+ Very good location, spacious room, modern and comfortable but nevertheless remains very typical of the Sassi (do not expect the room to be very bright). Very pleasant bathroom and rather decent bedding. - The curtains do not allow you to achieve complete blackness. We stayed in room 201 which overlooks the street, which can be a little noisy with the traffic.

Came at the hotel end of September 2019 for three nights. We could not have been more pleased with the place, the staff was very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was great and location perfect. We recommend it wholeheartedly.

Cute place to stay. Got a big room with a view of the valley. Beautiful sunrise. Only worry about ventilation though.

What an incredible place! Hard to find and don’t drive your car here. We called them and the driver picked us up before we came to the area. It was awesome and we’ll worth the stop. 2 days is all you need and plan to take a tour to get a better understanding of the dark history of the place.

A beautiful hotel just behind the dom of the city. It was a convent of nuns, years ago: on coming here you have to bear it in mind, because you will find no 5star-hotel comfort. If you are ok with that, you will have a really awesome experience here!

Very good, convenient transportation, large room and good facilities

The place was perfect: central, close to nice restaurants and bars, well decorated, nice staff, great SPA (worth the 25 EUR fee to access it!) and what a great breakfast buffet! Do choose the suites, they really are worth the extra price. They were all booked for our second night and so we had to move to a standard room and it wasn’t as great.

Awesome place, right in the heart of the old town, very nice room and great to wake up having a beautiful view of the town in the morning. Very quite place, clean, helpful staff and fantastic the SPA, it’s definitely worth it a visit. I will be back there and I strongly suggest it.

Beautiful tranquil, clean and tastefully decorated hotel set in the middle of the countryside yet close to the amazing town of Matera. We had a delicious dinner and made much use of the delightful pool and the lovely walks through the fields gave the dog plenty of exercise.

The room is large and unique👍 but there is no window, it feels stuffy and a bit musty. The sauna ended at 8 o'clock.

Located in the old town of Matera, I got lost when navigating, but after finding it, I found that the location is very good and close to various attractions. I strongly recommend trying the hotel's dinner, which is worth recommending. You must wear a swimsuit for the SPA, but I didn't bring it with me so I didn't experience it, which was a pity.

Parking is not very convenient, you have to park outside the city. We arrived very late. The hotel upgraded us to a suite. The front desk was very British. The room was large and the decoration was relatively new. The spa pool and sauna were free for 1 hour. Breakfast can be ordered and drinks are provided. Overall, it was in line with expectations.

The best hotel I have visit for this trip. All staffs are friendly and helpful. Easiest way to reach hotel is to go to Matera Centrale via ferrovie train from Bari Centrale. Than a bus near the train station will fetch you the doorstep. Very efficient location.

The view is great and the room configuration is great

The room is very new, with a modern layout that fits the characteristics of Matera very well. We can fully appreciate the hotel's careful layout. The hotel patiently answered our questions. We were very satisfied with the bedding and bathroom. The room was warm. I will come again if I have the chance.

Seems like a relatively new hotel in Matera and was well situated and clean. Big room and modern facilities. Breakfast was included and was ok. The only drawback was the smell of sulphur from the bathroom after showering.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of a Sasso in Matera. The view is splendid, and the chamber has a lot of style. It's a single long room with the different amenities aligned. The staff was nice and helpful, and available via WhatsApp. You can book a parking outside the city with a shuttle, at 25$ per day, with the hotel. Not cheap but indispensable since the city center is not accessible by car.

Clean, new, convenient and super nice staff

It was exceptionally clean and well presented. The hospitality and service was top class. Lovely breakfast, comfy beds and quality air-con made for a good nights rest. A bit out of town, however only a 10min walk or 2min drive from the bus stop & or train station. Also only about €10 cab ride to the city if that's more convenient. Would highly recommend.

Clean and stylish. Good free parking! Breakfast was nice. Hotel was kind of isolated from the downtown / sassi area with no food options in a walkable distance which is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Staff was great.

Rooms are clean and modern. I can't remember having met a friendlier staff in all my years of travel. We got great dinner recommendations. It's outside the central part of town by 3 km, a 30-40 min walk or a 10€ taxi ride. The also have a nice breakfast that's included.
