Savoy Hotel & Spa

Strange experience at the Savoy Paestum. Stunning hotel and setting but…
1. Rooms quite basic with small windows and no balcony’s. No coffee, tea or hot water in the rooms. Only bottled water that wasn’t replaced daily. Air con didn’t work.
2. Service non existent. All staff were lovely and friendly but not at all proactive. Spent 2 days by the pool and not once got asked if we needed anything. Would go to the bar and there would be 4 staff there relaxing. Would serve you perfectly but then not come back and check if you needed anything else. Would ask for large coffees and got tiny coffee in small tea cups on to discover on our final day that they actually did large coffees in huge mugs.
3. Open times of everything was very strange. Breakfast 7-10 then everything closed until 12-15:00 then everything closed again until 19-22:00. Everything closed including room service from 22:00
4. Spa - stunning but extremely bad charging guests and extra €50 per person to use it for 2:30hrs. And then closes at 18:00 for no reason especially when there is little else around the hotel to do and therefore should have stayed open late.

We were seemingly one of three other guests at any one time during our stay as it was quiet season and so it wasn’t as if they were maxed out and therefor things slipped.

A shame as could be amazing given the quality of the communal spaces, grounds and setting.

Our experience was short (barely 2 hours) but so bad, that we found another place to stay so as not to spend the night here. The room itself was ok but definitely not 4-star quality - it is in desperate need of a refresh. The room lacked basic necessities such as toiletries (we got 1 shampoo and 1 bodywash for 2 people), complimentary tea/coffee, and complimentary water. The items in the minibar looked like they had been there for months. The last straw for us was the on-site bistro restaurant. The very limited menu looked like it had been put together by an unprofessional chef - it was a cross between very basic Italian and burgers and even that doesn't fully describe how odd it was. We both chose a chicken dish and guess what we got? Inedible chicken that was so overcooked that it was impossible to chew but at the same time, it was cold in the middle - this means it had been pre-cooked god knows when and then poorly reheated. We were so appalled. The restaurant staff apologised and did not charge us. If a 4-star hotel can't cook dinner properly, we weren't going to stay for breakfast. Absolutely appalling. The service was also terrible.
