Family apartment in the center of Pisa - Design LM House in Pisa

We stayed at Hotel Maria in October 2025, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing and not as advertised.

When we arrived, we discovered that instead of being given a proper hotel room as shown on their website, we were placed in an offsite Airbnb-style apartment. This was never mentioned beforehand, and it felt deceptive. The apartment lacked hotel amenities and didn’t feel safe — the lights went out while we were showering, and we had to walk down many dark steps, which was genuinely frightening.

We also experienced rude behavior from one of the male staff members when we asked to be moved back to the hotel. The next morning, when we were finally transferred, he reluctantly carried one of our bags halfway up the stairs and left it there, clearly showing his displeasure. This kind of attitude is unacceptable, especially in hospitality.

It was also apparent that our original room had been given to a local guest, and only after insisting did the manager agree to move us to the hotel the next day. Paying full hotel rates for what was essentially a self-managed rental unit felt unfair and misleading.

I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Maria based on this experience. If you’re considering booking here, make sure to confirm in writing that you’ll actually be staying in the hotel itself, not in an offsite apartment. Transparency and professionalism were seriously lacking during our stay.

Did not have air conditioning / missing remote, stuffy air inn rooms so need to have windows open and then got lot of mosquitos.

the wall was too thin and couldnt go sleep because of the noise (e.g. kids running, the sound of TV in other room) and woke up at 4am because someone in the other room set the alarm, i even thought it was mine because the wall was that thin. i had a horrible experience.
