We stayed at the Hotel Vela for 1 night only ( july 2025) it was around 15 minute walk from the train station Santa Margherita Ligure. The hotel is beautiful and offers stunning views, yes it’s a bit of a climb to get there but worth it! Breakfast was really nice set in a lovely room with a good choice of pastries, breads, yoghurts, cereal and fruit. Air conditioning was welcome in the July heat and the shower was great. Good night sleep as it’s such a peaceful setting.

The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and had all the necessary amenities. Every morning we enjoyed a generous breakfast with a view of the bay. The hotel is ideally located - close to the beach, restaurants, and walking trails. It's the perfect place for a relaxing holiday in Liguria!

What a gem of a hotel…. Castle above Santa Margherita, a little long walk from the marina but worth it! If you have a car it’s a tight drive up but you can do it! Rooms 26-27-28 have real good views, 38 has the best view. You can also walk to the top of the torrent for a phenomenal view of the bay. Nice breakfast, excellent service from everyone we encountered…. If you want to stay somewhere different this is the place for you!

"An exceptional experience in the heart of Liguria Hotel La Vela is a true gem in Santa Margherita Ligure! It is located in a beautiful, historic building that perfectly complements the picturesque landscape of the region. The rooms are spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, and the views from the windows are breathtaking The staff was extremely helpful and polite, always ready to provide valuable tips about the area. The proximity to Portofino is an added bonus. Ihighly recommend this place to anyone looking for relaxation in authentic Italian style!

A very unique and charming hotel with a great staff and wonderful views! Only downside is no elevator and if you are on top floor with heavy luggage it’s a little annoying. Other than that love it!

It's a three star hotel. A 100 years old building. Since the train is close by was well as the street it can be loud, but it was never to extreme (after waking around the whole day it doesn't really matter 😅).
