My daughter and I have been planning our trip to Italy for well over a year. Upon arrival in Volterra, we come to find out accommodation is closed, no warning, no telephone calls

This was a fantastic stay. People were super nice and helpful. Room was clean and the roof was incredible to drink wine on. Can't ask for more. Central yet good rest.

Perfect location in Volterra! Breakfast was good, staff super-friendly and the garden is a very cozy place to hang out after a day walking around in the city.

Hotel is a bit dated but it has a great pool. Only warning is that there is a nasty hill climb required to get into town and there is no cab. It looked like there was a bus that goes up the hill top the center Volterre

Nice hotel on a very good location in Volterra / Tuscany. Great view on the hills from the pool. Breakfast and diner are fine. Hotel is a bit outdated and needs some new paint but nevertheless we had a pleasant stay.

If you want to stay in Volterra to explore the city this is a perfect place. Swimming pool is very nice and when temperature is so high it is a must! Rooms are clean and comfortable

The decor both inside and out is in need of re-decoration and extensive maintenance needs to be carried out to the fabric of the building ,grounds and pool areas

Beautiful place in the middle of the forest, special to disconnect from the worries and noises of the city! The houses are super cute, furnished with taste and with everything you need, the pool is large and super clean, the owners are super kind and the best they speak Spanish, we will surely return

This place is a little oasis within 10 mins drive of Sam Gimignano town center. Beautiful grounds, lovely pool, parking, etc. the staff are great and they offer a selection of menu items for drinks and food.

The only problem is with the taxis from San Gimignano it's pretty hard to get one, so keep in mind to have a car or hire a transfer car if you are planning on going for a wine tasting at some nearby wineries

We spent three nights at the Residence il Monastero but we would have stayed even longer! The lavender apartment where we stayed was spotless and equipped with everything (if you need to ask the very kind owners and they will help you), the wonderful view, the beautiful swimming pool, the nice area for the children and the barbecue area, beautiful l he idea of ​​a toilet near the pool and the idea...

Peace and quiet that is hard to imagine. It's warm, you could even say hot, so going to bed and sleeping without air conditioning is tiring and has its charms. Definitely a recommendation to come and enjoy

The only reason I withheld that 5th star is that the hotel isn't inside the old castle walls of San Gimignano. The walk up the hill isn't bad at all, but there is that walk up the hill (which isn't clear in the listing)

This was one of the most unique hotels I've stayed in. The rooms are all some of the most beautiful I've seen. Breakfast is included with the stay, which is a buffet including fruit, pastries, and more

There are two pools to swim in, a gym, and a trampoline to jump in for children. All of the staff are very friendly, and the connecting restaurant had some of the best meals I'd had in Tuscany

There’s also a Michelin Star restaurant on-site, which serves delicious Tuscan food for a decent price. The owner and his family are great people and We will definitely be back soon!

Laura is such a warm hearted and caring host that you have to feel just like home. Everything was well taken care of and the place is a great base to explore Tuscony

We were shown a room in what is considered "part" of the Main house although not attached, small with a lovely window view, but a bathroom that was designed for handicapped accessible, akin to that in a camper or train, where there was a handheld shower for bathing, without curtain, directly opposite the toilet, where it would be impossible not to soak the entire small bathroom with use, and no bidet...

We found this unacceptable and beyond unusual to be given this without warning or request and therefore needed to change rooms in order to have a proper enclosed shower, which cost an additional 20E per night as designed to sleep 4 with one large and 2 twin beds, which actually was in the Main house

Initially, I would have given this property a 2 star, but for end result I would say 3 to be fair overall, including food, which for the one dinner we had, was the poorest of this 3 week journey to Italy and perhaps one of the worst dining out experiences I have had in a long time

Specifically, upon arrival, I had booked a double room for more money in the Main House (as specified in the confirmation email where the restaurant and reception are located)

But then, why did you go to Italy?!?! This is a lovely and unaffected place. I would go back in a heartbeat!
