A fantastic, old-fashioned hotel in the heart of Miri's Pelita district. From the subtly decadent lobby, to the tile-clad washrooms, and the antiquely rooms with its understated furnishings, the entire hotel top-down retains and too very well preserves its very tasteful aesthetic of decades past, one that I find very befitting of such an accomodation, in a well-to-do town like Miri, and one that I hope will live on vicariously within for many more decades to come. In other words, I hope Grand Palace continues to avoid the pitfalls of bland modernisation in refurbishment. The staff and service here are also notably stellar, and likely well-trained. I make it a point to reserve one of their reasonably-priced superior rooms whenever I find myself staying nights in this neighbourhood of Sarawak.

I have been to many cities around the world and every chance I get, I make sure I visit their steak restaurants. The Japanese, the Australians, the Brazilian, Bistecca alla Fiorentina etc. etc. But at the end of the day the most consistent and the best filet mignon is right in my home city Miri, done by a humble chef at Western Palace restaurant, here. The hotel has aged a lot including In-room safe could only be set by maintenance so they know your number, despite making a few requests, they could not/ would not change the safe. Only reason i will stay here is due to its location.

I stayed at Grand Palace Hotel for few nights. The check-in process was smooth.
The room was clean, but the room design a bit old school. But the housekeeping team did an excellent job maintaining cleanliness throughout my stay.
Location-wise, the hotel was perfect, with easy access to any shopping center.
Overall, I had a fantastic stay and would definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Miri.

The hotel is a bit old but still very well kept and clean. Price is very affordable. Breakfast is basic nothing to shout about.
