Baan Hin Sai Resort & Spa - SHA Extra Plus

Amazing staff ( girl at the front desk tonight upgraded our room for free). Great start. Right by the beach, access to sister resort as well. The bungalows are spacious and AC is comfortable. It’s a quiet stay away from all the businesses but you can get to the main areas within 10 minutes drive. Would recommend:) great price, great service

ALL of the staff are incredible and very accommodating. Sunny was the highlight of our visit!! The grounds are nice and well kept. The only negative was the cleanliness of the room. The grout in the tub/shower were moldy and there was a ring in the toilet. The bathroom sink drained very slow, and there were also stains on the duvet that looked like blood.

The stuff was so kind, they helped us a lot with everything! Location was great amazing view to the sea and next to beautiful Coral Bay. Rooms were great, everything made from wood but in our room we had some humidity, we left one window open to have fresh air. Overall we like the hotel..

Our stay at Baan Hin Sai Resort was a pleasant surprise, especially considering the mixed reviews. The service was outstanding—despite some reviews mentioning rude staff, we experienced nothing but warmth and helpfulness. Even the lady who had been singled out in previous reviews for her attitude was incredibly welcoming and friendly during our visit.

The location is a bit far from the main attractions, but the staff at the front desk provided helpful tips on getting around. We were able to flag down one of the local red buses to the city center for just 100 baht per person, which is much cheaper than using a Bolt (350-400 baht). It’s also close to Coral Cove, a fantastic spot for snorkeling where you can rent gear for 100 baht and see plenty of fish and some corals, especially if you can dive deep.

The resort feels like it was originally built with luxury in mind, but it has since settled into more of a regular resort experience. The rooms show signs of wear—scratched floors, missing or broken tiles—but it all adds a certain charm. Despite this, the villa was spacious, clean, and offered great value for money. Daily fresh towels and room cleaning were provided, which was a nice touch.

We did encounter some mosquitoes due to gaps in the windows, but that’s to be expected in a tropical setting. Ordering food via Grab was easy; just have it delivered to the front desk, and they’ll bring it to your room. The resort even offers a convenient golf cart service to help guests up the steep hill between the villas and reception.

All in all, from a backpacker's perspective, Baan Hin Sai Resort offers excellent value. It’s not the luxury resort it may have once aimed to be, but it’s a charming and affordable option with friendly service and beautiful surroundings.

Nice hotel. They take you by golf car to the room. So when you have to go back at the entrance you have to call them to be picked up.

The view is really nice, the room is ok, the bathroom is nice, there was a rock coming through it which was nice to see. However price was very high because we chose a room with swimming pool, but except for the pool, the room wasn’t particularly nice (in my opinion, it was overpriced). Especially when you know that VERY nice hostels in Koh Samui are only 9€ per night. I would expect a prettier room than what we had for what we paid.

Other than that the room pool is nice with a good view on the sea, however we felt like there was no privacy because people in other rooms and the cleaning service can see you. So the private pool didn’t feel that private

We had an incredible stay at the hotel to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. I suggest you to book the room directly via hotel’s website. There’re many options which we decided to book a room together with a 1 hr. Thai massage with ocean views for 2 person. What a great deal!

The staffs were friendly and accommodating, they even updated our room to a seaview suit.

The room was clean and big, though some of the furnishings were a bit outdated. But the view completely made up for it.

The hotel is built on a cliff so you get the amazing panoramic view. Good enough that the hotel provides a buggy service to help you get around.

We stayed in a sea view suite with a private pool. The room was large and the balcony with the swimming pool was amazing. Definitely worth staying for the private pool!
Our suite had a sink, microwave and hot plate however there were no plates, cutlery, cooking utensils, washing up liquid etc so it made the kitchen area redundant. There is a great restaurant called Dr Frogs a short walk away so we made good use of this instead!

The view from the room (seafront) and restaurant are great. It’s good for relaxing, However without any transport means you are stuck in the hotel - its located on a hill and main street is not in walking distance. Service can sometimes be more professional (english of receptionist not great, nor very friendly).
Sunny in the restaurant is a delight - smiley and very welcoming! The golf cart service is much appreciated. It’s 3 stars so don’t expect nice details and new features (some bathroom tiles are broken, bedside lamps broken/wobbly, wifi not stable).

I arrived as part of the Samui plus scheme to enter Thailand and had to stay in Samui for seven days first. I contacted a various amount of hotels and was pleasantly surprised with Baan Hin resort as they replied very promptly and gave all the required information that I needed. I arrived in October and I was pleasantly surprised the staff were very tentative and not overbearing wise and I was looked after extremely well. As for the resort it's a mixture of modern and traditional Thai and the rooms are kept immaculate and very roomy and the beds very comfy. Thery have a few pools to choose from which is nice as it was very hot and very to easy to relax, the grounds surrounding are enriched with tropical plants and it is very beautiful. The restaurant is amazing very spacious and modern and the food and hospitality was outstanding. The location was excellent local areas easy to access I would definitely stay here again and I'm very glad that I picked this resort as part of my Samui plus scheme. Wayne
